If it is pulled off at an angle, the pilot valve may be damaged or the protective O-ring may be scratched. Installation ut the cover back on straight without touching the pilot valve, and push it all the way until the cover s hook locks, without twisting the protective O-ring. (When pushed in, the hook opensand locks automatically.) Caution Replacement of ilot Valves Removal. Remove the sockets which are installed on the pilot valve pins by pulling them straight upward.. Remove the pilot valve mounting screws with a small screwdriver.
