INSTALLATION INSTRUCTION ALL FLANGED RUBBER EXPANSION JOINTS Rubber expansion joints are avaiabe in two ready to fit versions with standard connections according to DIN, ASA, BS, etc. Rotatabe stee fanges These shoud fit precisey and burrfree in the fitting area of the rubber beow, whereby the seaing surface can protrude about 1 10 mm depending on the nomina diameter. The mating fange seaing surfaces can be smooth (Form A) or with sea (Form B) according to EN : 1. Pressureresistant soid rubber fanges These fanges are deivered incud ing singepiece stee backing fanges. The mating fanges shoud have a smooth seaing surface according to EN : 1 (Form A). Both types of expansion joints are sefseaing; additiona seas are unnecessary. EB 1 1. Panning instructions Expansion joints must be arranged in pipes in such a way that reguar maintenance and any necessary repacement can take pace easiy. It must be ensured that the expansion joints do not rub against adjacent components aso when expanded to the maximum permissibe imits. The expansion joints must aso not be exposed to high externay radiated or accumuated heat. Universa expansion joints (without tie rods) for absorbing axia, atera and anguar movements. For an expansion joint to absorb the axia or atera movements (expansion or compression) of a pipe, it must be arranged between two fixed points. In addition, pain bearings must be incuded for pipe routing/support. The reaction forces, adjusting forces and friction forces must be taken into account in the dimensioning of the fixed points and pain bearings. Reaction force (N) = Effective area (mm²) x working pressure (N/mm²). F = A x P (Adjusting forces according to type data sheet) Fitting exampe 1 (EB 1) Compensation of axia expansion with expansion joints without tie rods. The reaction forces of the expansion joint are absorbed by the fixed bearing. BG0/2013 Subject to aterations and eventua misprints 1 / 21

Fitting exampe 2 (EB2) Compensation of atera and axia expansion with an expansion joint without tie rods. The reaction forces of the expansion joint are absorbed by the fixed bearings and pain bearings. The pain bearings must be appropriatey supported! Adjusting forces must be absorbed by the fixed points. EB 2 Fitting exampe 3 (EB 3) Compensation of atera and axia expansion with expansion joints without tie rods arranged in a pipe outet.the reaction forces of the expansion joint are absorbed by the fixed bearings and pain bearings. The pain bearings must be appropriatey supported! EB 3 Latera expansion joints (with tie rods) for absorbing atera movements. If an expansion joint for absorbing axia movements cannot be fitted between two fixed points, the axia movement must be converted into a atera movement. This makes it possibe to use an expansion joint with tie rods, which neutraises the occurring reaction forces (inside area of the expansion joint x working pressure). With this arrangement, ony appropriate pain bearings may be used for correct initiation of expansion.a arge seection of rubber expansion joint tie rods can be found in our cataogue. BG0/2013 Subject to aterations and eventua misprints 2 / 21

Fitting exampe (EB 4) Compensation of axia expansion by defection into a atera movement with expansion joints with tie rods. Compensation of axia expansion by defection into a atera movement with expansion joints with tie rods. The adjusting forces of the expansion joint are absorbed by the fixed bearings. The pain bearings serve ony for correct initiation of movement in the expansion joint! In contrast to fitting exampe 2, axia movement of the vertica pipe arm is disregarded. EB 4 Anguar expansion joints (with joint tie rods) for absorbing anguar movements. In order to absorb significant axia movements with ow adjusting forces, a combination of anguar expansion joints with tie rods can be used. Fitting exampe 5 (EB 5) Compensation of axia expansion by defection to anguar movement using expansion joints with tie rods. Advantage: Significant axia expansion can be absorbed by ony two expansion joints. The reaction forces of the expansion joint are absorbed by the joint tie rods. The pain bearings serve ony for correct initiation of movement in the expansion joint! EB 5 BG0/2013 Subject to aterations and eventua misprints 3 / 21

Fitting exampe 6 (EB 6) Arrangement of pipe joint expansion joints in three joint systems for compen sating expansion in two directions. Advantage: High expansion compensation, ow adjusting forces, soft corner. The reaction forces of the expansion joint are absorbed by the joint tie rods. The pain bearings serve ony for correct initiation of movement in the expansion joint! EB 6 Expansion joints for pump connection (with/without tie rods) for absorbing vibrations. Where rubber expansion joints are used on pumps, these shoud prevent the transmission of forces, stresses and vibrations in order to decoupe the pipe system from the pump. Fitting exampe 7 (EB 7) Expansion joints with tie rods shoud aways be used for arrangement in pressure pipes to prevent the pump support from being overoaded due to the reaction forces. A vacuum support ring shoud be used on the suction side if possibe. EB 7 BG0/2013 Subject to aterations and eventua misprints 4 / 21

Fitting exampe (EB ) IMPORTANT!! For the transport of abrasive media (iquids containing soids such as water/ sand), the expansion joints must not be arranged directy on the pump support (suction/pressure side, as there is a risk of the expansion joints being damaged due to reativey high veocities from swir and vertebration on the pump support. This appies simiary to ebows and outets. The fitting distance from the pump support to the expansion joint/ebow must be 1 to 1.5 x DN. Pump operation against a fuy or party cosed gate or fap vave must be avoided. Cavitation must aso be avoided as this can quicky damage the expansion joint. EB Expansion joints with pressure reief for absorbing axia and atera movement. Pressurereieved expansion joints can be used to prevent the transmission of reaction forces resuting from excess or ow pressure to adjacent fixed bearings, apparatus or machines. Fitting exampe 9 (EB 9) Expansion joints for absorbing axia expansion without the transmission of reaction forces resuting from excess or ow pressure to adjacent fixed bearings, apparatus or machines (observe adjusting forces). EB 9 BG0/2013 Subject to aterations and eventua misprints 5 / 21

Fitting exampe 10 (EB 10) Expansion joints for absorbing axia and atera expansion on an ebow without the transmission of reaction forces resuting from excess or ow pressure to adjacent fixed bearings (adjusting forces). EB 10 Expansion joints (with tie rods) for fitting/remova To compensate for fitting inaccuracies or for easy fitting or remova, an expansion joint with tie rods can aso be mounted directy on a vave. Fitting exampe 11 (EB 11) Expansion joint with tie rods for fitting/ remova. Tie rods prevent the transmission of reaction forces to a connected vave and by oosening the fange connection with the aid of the tie rod fange, the rubber beow can be compressed to its maximum axia imits to enabe remova of the vave. EB 11 BG0/2013 Subject to aterations and eventua misprints 6 / 21

Fitting exampe 12 (EB 12) For rubberised pipes or vaves, a bank gasket must be used to prevent a rubberonrubber sea. EB buit panning Arrangement of pipe supports The fixed points of the guide bearings must be arranged in such a way that: the expansion joint is not oaded by the weight of the pipe bending due to the arrangement of fixed or oose bearings is prevented suspension in sefaigning bearings is avoided; pain or roer bearings must be used as guide bearings Arrangement of foating bearings The distance between the expansion joint and first bearing can be max. 4 x the pipe diameter. The distance between the first and second bearing can be max. 14 x the pipe diameter The distance between the remaining pipe bearings can be max. 21 x the pipe diameter. This distance must be reduced if necessary due to the inherent stabiity of the pipe EB 13 BG0/2013 Subject to aterations and eventua misprints 7 / 21

Initia tension of expansion joints If an expansion joint is fitted with an initia tension greater than 10 mm axiay or 5 mm ateray, the expansion joint must be fitted first and then the appropriate initia tension generated with the permanenty fitted expansion joint at an open point in the pipe. (Fitting exampe EB ) Reason: A not yet fitted expansion joint with a higher initia tension wi cause the seaing bead to spring out of the groove of the stee fange and this coud damage the seaing bead or cause a eak. For panning purposes, it must be ensured that the pipe can be opened! EB 14 EB 15 BG0/2013 Subject to aterations and eventua misprints / 21

3. Safety measures Excess pressure, temperature rise, vacuum Protect pipes against inadmissibe excess pressure, excessive temperature rise and uncontroed vacuum. The imiting vaues are shown in the data sheets of our cataogue. Water hammer and vacuum drop Draining and venting options are provided to prevent water hammer and vacuum drop. Resistance The inner materia of the beow coming into contact with the medium must be suitabe for the medium transported in the pipe. If the ist does not contain a specific medium, we must be provided with appropriate data from the safety data sheet for chemica substances and preparations according to DIN 52900, causes 1 to 2.13 in order to enabe us to determine whether the inner iner of the expansion joint is suitabe. Fow rate For high fow rates, it must be carified whether the expansion joints must be used with or without guide tube in order to prevent wear due to excessive vertebration. Vacuum support spira/ring If the expected vacuum is higher than 0. bar absoute, a vacuum support spira or vacuum support ring must be provided. These prevent the beow from coapsing. For use directy downstream of a pump, fap vave or ebow, a check must be made to ensure correct positioning after fitting see Fitting instructions + Fitting exampe (EB 16)! Externa infuences Extreme externa infuences make it necessary to protect the expansion joints via specia measures: Ground protection cover: Protects against damage to beows, fouing and earth pressure on buried pipes. UV protection cover: Protects against UV radiation and infuences of weather in regions exposed to extreme sunight. Fameretardant protective cover: Protects against fire up to 0 C for 30 minutes. Dangerous media The expansion joints must be provided with suitabe spash protection for pipes used for transporting dangerous or environmentay harmfu media. Mating fanges/fange connection Mating fanges and fange connections must be as described in the foowing Fitting exampe 16 (EB 16) to ensure a reiabe sea and to prevent damage to the rubber expansion joints. Mating fanges with and without projection according to EN 10921:1 Form A or B must be used for expansion joints with rotatabe fanges. Ony smooth mating fanges shoud be used for expansion joints with soid fanges. Other types are avaiabe on request. Fitting exampe 16 (A E) If a smooth fange cannot be used for expansion joints with soid rubber fanges, the recess of the mating fange must be compensated with a sea with an appropriatey thick ring or taken into account in rubber fange fabrication. EB 16 A BG0/2013 Subject to aterations and eventua misprints 9 / 21

When using backing fanges with thick bead, the gap above the bots between both fanges must be fied with an appropriate ring. This stops the backing fange from titing and thus avoids incorrect contact with the seaing surface! EB 16 B When using fare fanges and sipon fanges, it must be ensured that the interna diameter of the seaing surface of the mating fange corresponds to the interna diameter of the beow. If this is not the case and the interna diameter of the mating fange is arger, a bank meta gasket and an additiona sea must be used! EB 16 C Mating fanges with groove or tongue must not be used. BG0/2013 Subject to aterations and eventua misprints 10 / 21

EB 16 D It must be ensured during fitting that the rubber bead is ocated correcty in the groove of the expansion joint fange, otherwise the seaing surface may be damaged and eaks can occur! EB 16 E 4. Packaging Check the packaging for externa damage Check the contents against the dei very note or packing ist If possibe, do not unpack the expansion joints prior to assemby Ony open the packaging with a bunt object Ensure that nais or stapes in wooden crates do not come into contact with the rubber beow 5. Storage See DIN 7716 Guideines for the storage of rubber parts. Rubber expansion joints must be stored without being subject to stress, deformation and kinking Rubber expansion joints with stee fanges must be stored upright on the fanges (risk of crushing) Store in a coo, dry, dustfree and moderatey ventiated room Protect rubber parts against draughts and cover if necessary. Ozonegenerating equipment such as eectric motors, fuorescent ight sources, etc., must not be used at the pace of storage Do not store any sovents, fues, chemicas or simiar together with the expansion joints 6. Transport Leave the parts packed Note TOP at the top and cabe or ifting hook Stee backing rings (with bracing) and the rubber expansion joint fanges must remain fastened unti fina fitting to avoid excessive oads on the rubber part! Do not use any sharpedged toos, wire ropes, chains or ifting hooks (risk of damage to rubber) Aways ift both stee fanges simutaneousy. Shacke at both sides or pace padded tiebars through the expansion joint For ground eve transportation without means of transport, ro the expansion joint on the fanges BG0/2013 Subject to aterations and eventua misprints 11 / 21

7. Fitting Rubber expansion joints are intended for absorbing movements under certain pressure and temperature conditions to be determined in advance. To ensure that the maximum service ife is reached, the foowing must be observed for fitting. Prior to fitting Check the packaging of the rubber expansion joints and after unpac king aso the expansion joint itsef for damage. Damaged expansion joints must not be fitted Check the pipe run to ensure that it is straight in the area in which the expansion joint is to be fitted and that the pipe is imited by appropriate fixed points Ony one expansion joint or severa expansion joints couped to form a unit may be fitted between two fixed points Check the size of the fitting gap. The mating fanges shoud be fitted in aignment with each other. The maximum deviation between the fit ting gap and expansion joint can be +/10 mm axiay and +/5 mm ateray Note: If the aforementioned toeran ces cannot be maintained, the pro cedure is as described in the sec tion Initia tension of expansion joints Fitting exampe (EB ) The pipe fanges must not be twi sted towards each other when fit ting an expansion joint with soid rubber fanges, as the expansion joint wi be subject to torsion this must be avoided as torsion can damage the expansion joint The pipe fanges must be cean, greasefree, smooth, fat and burrfree It must be ensured that the fange connections are as described in the section Mating fanges/fange connections AE under Safety If an expansion joint is to be provided with a guide tube, this must be inserted into the expansion joint prior to fitting in the pipe (do not forget sea between guide tube and mating fange) If the use of a vacuum support spira or vacuum support ring is necessary due to ow pressure, these same must be fitted in advance. For a vacuum support ring, the section Vacuum support ring in the foowing must be observed (EB 17)! IMPORTANT Weding in the vicinity of expansion joints must be avoided. If this cannot be avoided, the expansion joint must be covered with a fameretardant and heat resistant materia to protect it against weding heat and fying sparks. When weding the compete pipe system, stee wire expansion joints can be damaged by stray currents or eectrica earth conduction. The anode and cathode of the eectric weding connection must aways be ocated on the same ine section. (Not separated by the rubber expansion joint!) The rubber beow must not be painted after fitting in the pipe. It is aso important to note that the expansion joint must not be insuated at temperatures above C, as this wi cause the rubber beow to heat up and harden as a resut of the accumuated heat. The beow must not be painted. BG0/2013 Subject to aterations and eventua misprints 12 / 21

Fitting an expansion joint with fange connection Centring mandres, rubber hammer and torque wrench are required for fitting. Do not use any sharpedged toos! Carefuy push the expansion joint into the fitting gap. Take care not to damage the seaing surfaces No additiona seas are required. The rubber bead or rubber fange seas directy against the pipe fange Attention: Exceptions for rubber ised pipe fanges, vaves or bank gaskets see corresponding sec tion above! Fix the expansion joint at both fanges using at east two bots or threaded rods. If necessary, the ifting device can be detached/ removed When fitting expansion joints with tie rods, it must be ensured that the tie rods are oosened so that the expansion joint is abe to adjust itsef to the fitting gap when tightened. Readjustment of the tie rods subsequenty takes pace after fit ting the expansion joint see foowing description Fitting the tie rods The remaining fixing bots can now be inserted and tightened handtight For the boted fange connection, bots with the strength cass. shoud be used Do not use a washer on the expan sion joint fange The foowing must be noted when inserting the bots: See Fange bot torque (tabe 1 and 2, page 20 and 21) For expansion joints with through hoes, a bots must be inserted with the bot head towards the beow to prevent damage to the beow under pressure. BG0/2013 Subject to aterations and eventua misprints 13 / 21

Exception If the expansion joint has a ong coar (supporting shouder), the bot can aso be inserted the other way round however the bot must not be onger than the coar! For expansion joints with tapped hoes in the fange, the bots shoud be fush towards the beow side with the fange, as protrud ing bots are iabe to damage the beow under pressure. The boted fange connections must be tightened as foows: Step 1: Tighten a bots Appy torque eveny according to Step 1 crosswise Check gap width on outer edge of fange Setting time >= 30 minutes Step 2: Tighten a bots crosswise according to Step 2 Check gap width Step 3: Appy fina torque according to Step 3 in two passes crosswise The bots do not require further tightening as this woud utimatey damage the seaing surface Throughout the entire fitting pro cess, it must be ensured that the seaing bead does not tit The protruding seaing surface shoud be compressed eveny on a sides When fitting siicone rubber expansion joints, the specified tightening torques must be reduced by 30%. If a eak shoud occur during the subsequent pressure test, the bots must be tightened with the torque according to Step 3. If the boted fange connection is sti eaky, the tightening torque must be increased sighty. Before retightening the bots, the pressure in the expansion joint must be reduced. Throughout the entire fitting process, it must be ensured that the expansion joint is not overexpanded or crushed. BG0/2013 Subject to aterations and eventua misprints 14 / 21

Vacuum support ring (EB 17) For vacuum support rings arranged directy downstream of a pump, fap vave or ebow the vacuum support rings must be checked for correct positioning after fitting as foows (EB 17 A): Firm seating (max mm cearance between beow and ring on one side) If necessary, adapter pates shoud be used to obtain the permissibe seat cearance The connection ock shoud aways be in the ower fow area (6 ) At high fow rates, a check must be made to determine whether an expansion joint with vucanised support ring shoud be used in order to avoid fatigue faiures due to strong turbuence (EB 17 B) After fitting, check that the hexagon bots and nuts are securey ocked to prevent oosening EB 17 A EB 17 B BG0/2013 Subject to aterations and eventua misprints 15 / 21

. Fina fitting check Check the expansion joints on a sides for any visibe damage and in particuar cean the gap between the stee backing fange and rub ber beow (remove foreign bodies, sand, etc.) After being fitted, the expansion joints shoud be provided with suitabe protection against damage, which must ony be removed directy prior to commissioning The rubber parts must not be painted.sovents and chemicas attack the surface and damage the beow The expansion joints must not be insuated as this can cause the beow to overheat and dry out and utimatey ead to damage of the beow The best resuts are obtained when the expansion joint is abe to function stressfree under operating conditions (initia tension must be taken into account when fitting) For expansion joints with tie rods, check the tie rods. They shoud be abe to be turned handtight. The ock nuts must be tightened If possibe, check the support spiras/rings, if present, for correct seating and ocking 9. Measures prior to pressure test and commissioning Remove the protective covers and cean the expansion joint Check the expansion joint for damage Check that a supports, fixed and pain bearings are fitted and functiona Check the tie rods for even oading and if necessary adjust them to the prevaiing conditions 10. Pressure test The rubber expansion joint is not a proper pressure vesse, but is cassified according to the Pressure Equipment Directive as a pipe accessory (pipe component). When fitting the expansion joint in piping, seaing does not take pace via a separate sea, but directy on the seaing surface of the integrated rubber beow. A one hundred per cent pressure test of the rubber expansion joint at the manufacturer can adversey infuence the integrated rubber seaing surface. Pressure testing of the rubber expansion joints at the manufacturer therefore takes pace ony at the specia request of the customer with the utmost care. The pressure test normay takes pace ony after the rubber expansion joints have been fuy instaed in the pipe system. A of the instructions contained in these fitting instructions shoud be observed prior to the pressure test. If eaks shoud occur in the area of the fange connection during the pressure test, the boted fange connection must be retightened according to the tightening tabe Step Suppementary assemby and fittings instructions for type Rubber expansion joints type 46 must be fitted stressfree. The boted connections shoud aways be made using two wrenches to avoid torsion on the expansion joint (EB 1). Mount the boting parts on the pipe and check the fitting gap! The fitting gap shoud have the same ength as the expansion joint beow (e.g. 130 mm +/ 5 mm type 46 and 120, 130,140 or 155 mm depending on the nomina diameter for type 45) Insert the expansion joint and tighten using two wrenches as foows: DN 20/25 type 46 and DN 20 type 45 The front threaded part must be used as a counter support and the seeve nut tightened (to avoid torsion on the beow) DN 32 Type 46 The rear threaded part must be used as a counter support and the seeve nut tightened (to avoid torsion on the beow) BG0/2013 Subject to aterations and eventua misprints 16 / 21

Above 2 bar, two camps shoud be used A other fitting positions are as described in our main fitting instructions. 14. Suppementary assemby and fittinginstructions for type 64 The expansion joint must not be fitted before a work on the pipes and fanges has been competed and a anchors and supports mounted. This is intended to prevent the expansion joint from being damaged by weding sparks, sharpedged objects, etc. Since the expansion joints type 64 are made from highy fexibe materias, the durabiity depends on carefu and correct fitting. Avoid sharp edges and fods. Ducting fanges, backing fanges or other stee parts incuded in the deivery shoud be checked and correspond to the drawings. The bot hoes must be arranged symmetrica in each fange. For ifting the expansion joint, it is recommended to use a sup port pate or inner frame Preferaby, the expansion joint shoud be preassembed with backing fanges and interna seeve (if incuded in the deivery) on the ground before ifting. If these covers need to be removed in advance for the pur pose of inspection, they must be screwed back into pace in any event Weding, sodering and brazing on the PTFE beow is forbidden as the beow can be damaged and highy toxic gases can deveop The use of seas between PTFE/ PTFE seaing surfaces is unneces sary. It is recommended to use a 5 mm thick PTFE sea for connec tions to gass, ename and other components The fange connection bots must be tightened according to the torque tabe 3, page 21) The imiting bots (tie rods) must be adjusted to the maximum permissibe expansion after assemby of the expansion joint. The imiting bots must not be removed In the course of commissioning, the fange connections shoud be retightened with the specified torque after reaching operating temperature If eaks occur, the fange connec tions must be checked for paraeism of the fanges, fouing or damage to the seaing surfaces Minor indentations or damage can be removed with emery coth. 16. Maintenance AND monitoring Prior to fina commissioning, the fange connection tightening tor que must be checked a singe time First inspection 1 week after commissioning. Further inspections after 1, 4 and 12 months and then yeary. The foowing must be checked: Externa damage of rubber beow, fange and tie rods Deformations of the rubber fange between the bots (dispacement of fange surfaces) Changes to the rubber beow (bubbes, britteness, cracks, hairine cracks Check of the tie rods for impermissibe dispacement and misaignment Assessment of corrosion and wear on the entire component.
