19 Section 4.4 4Troubeshooting Rotate Circuit Troubeshooting (revoving camps ony) \ To isoate the probem area in the rotation system, compete the foowing check ist. Probem: Camp wi not rotate or wi not rotate oads up to its rated capacity. Probabe causes: insufficient truck hydrauic pressure. Incorrect oad handing. Excessive back pressure in the truck hydrauic system. Tests: C Check the pressure deivered by the truck hydrauic system. A pressure drop of no more than 100 psi at the auxiiary vave port is OK. If the pressure is not as specified, refer to the truck service manua for adjustment or service. PRESSURE MUST NOT EXCEED 2000 PSI. 0 Make sure the operator is gripping the oad as shown in the iustration. Gripping a oad, especiay a ong one, near its end, then attempting to rotate it requires a tremendous amount of torque-often times beyond the capacity of the camp. C Insta a pressure gauge into each port of the hydrauic motor (do not use the neede vave). 0 Securey grip a oad that weighs cose to the capacity of the camp. 0 Rotate the oad and note the pressure readings on the gauges during rotation. If the ower pressure reading EXCEEDS 200 psi, you have excessive back pressure in your suppy circuit. Check for restrictions such as numerous fittings and ebows, hose sizes ess than No. 8, cogged oi fiter, etc. If the ower pressure does NOT EXCEED 200 psi, and the truck pressure is within specifications, the hydrauic motor needs repair. 22 Section 5 Service 5.2 Arms Arm Remova and Instaation Arm remova is easiest to perform with the attachment mounted on the truck. Fuy extend the arms. On rotating camps, make sure the attachment is rotated so the arms are positioned side-by-side. Remove the nuts retaining the cyinder rods to the arm ugs. On od-stye retaining nuts, first remove the spring washer. IMPORTANT: A new stye retaining nut has a cone-shaped ocking washer swaged to the threads of the nut. Locking is achieved when the washer is dimped into the groove in the end of the cyinder rod. To unock the nut, insert a punch or chise into the hoe in the center of the coneshaped washer and pry up the dimpe. If you re carefu, the nut may be reused severa times. NOTE: Pressurizing the cyinders outward wi increase friction between the cyinder rod and the ug and may make oosening the nuts easier. Secure the arms with a suitabe overhead hoist and chain. A WARNING: Make sure your overhead hoist has a rated ifting capacity of at east 1000 pounds. Retract the cyinder rods unti they come out of engagement with the arm ugs. CAUTION: Rods wi drop as soon as they disengage the frame. Protect the rod surface. Pu the arms out of the camp frame. IMPORTANT: Each time the arms are removed, inspect the arm guide tubes for scoring. Minor scoring can be removed with a hone. If the guide tubes are bady damaged, the frame must be repaced. Before instaing arm carriers, make sure the guide tubes are cean and free of meta projections. For reassemby, reverse the above procedures, except for the foowing specia instructions for cyinder anchor nuts. NOTE: When tightening cyinder anchor nuts, pressurizing the cyinders outward wi increase friction between the cyinder rod and the ug and may make tightening easier. a. OLD STYLE ANCHOR NUTS.
