6 To The Owner Read This Manua In Its Entirety BEFORE Operating The Articuator 1 SECTION 1 To The Owner 1.1 Read This Manua In Its Entirety BEFORE Operating The Articuator Do not aow anyone to operate the Articuator without first reading and understanding this operator s manua in its entirety. Never aow chidren to operate the Articuator. Never operate the Articuator when chidren are present. The information presented herein wi prepare you to operate the Articuator in a safe and knowedgeabe manner. Proper operation of the Articuator wi provide a safer working environment, and promote higher quaity, more efficient resuts. Keep this manua at hand at a times for ready reference. The designed and tested safety of the Articuator is dependent upon its operation within the guideines and imitations as outined in this manua. Aways adhere to a the safety rues presented in this manua. 1.2 Product Registration Immediatey record the mode and seria numbers of your Articuator in the spaces provided beow. These numbers can be found on the seria number pate which is permanenty affixed to the mower. The seria number pate is ocated on the right side of the frame, in front of the contro pane. You shoud provide this information to your deaer any time you are ordering parts. This wi assist them in suppying you the correct and most current parts avaiabe for your Articuator. Mode Number: Seria Number: You shoud now fi out the warranty registration form (ocated in the back of this section) and mai or fax it to LasTec. This form must be competed and returned to the factory within thirty (30) days of purchase in order to vaidate the warranty. Pease do not hesitate! 7 1 To The Owner LasTec Product Warranty 1.3 LasTec Product Warranty LasTec, A Division of Wood-Mizer Products, Inc. warrants its new products to be free of defects in materia or workmanship. This warranty is appicabe ony for the norma service ife expectancy of the machine or components, not to exceed tweve consecutive months from the date of deivery of the new LasTec product to the origina purchaser. LasTec, A Division of Wood-Mizer Products, Inc. warrants any new products suppied to a renta yard, or any other situation invoving the renta, ease, or other temporary use of the product by a third party, to be free of defects in materia or workmanship, not to exceed 90 days from the date of deivery of the new LasTec product to the origina purchaser. Under no circumstances wi it cover any merchandise or components thereof, which, in the opinion of the company has been subjected to negigent handing, misuse, ateration, accident, or repairs made with any parts other than those obtainabe through LasTec. Warranty on a norma wear items such as bearings, bets, and bushings is 90 days from date of deivery. Any caim received after 90 days wi not be accepted. A warranty items must be fied with your distributor. The distributor wi then fie the warranty caim with LasTec. Our obigation under this warranty sha be imited to repairing or repacing, free of charge to the origina purchaser, any part that in our judgement sha show evidence of such defect, provided further that such part sha be returned within thirty (30) days from date of faiure to LasTec, routed through the deaer and distributor from whom the purchase was made, with transportation charges prepaid. This warranty sha not be interpreted to render us iabe for injury or damages of any kind or nature, direct, consequentia, or contingent to person or property. This warranty does not extend to oss of any expense or oss incurred for abor, suppies, substitute machinery, renta or for any other reason. There are no warranties, either expressed or impied, of merchantabiity or fitness for particuar purpose intended or fitness for any other reason. This warranty is subject to any existing conditions of suppy which may directy affect our abiity to obtain materias or manufacture repacement parts. The Articuator is carefuy engineered and manufactured to provide safe, dependabe, and satisfactory service. 13 Safety Information Preparationa Safety Rues Preparationa Safety Rues Know your contros and how to stop the Articuator quicky in an emergency! Read this entire manua before attempting to operate the Articuator! NEVER aow anyone to operate the Articuator without proper instruction! Any and a operators must be instructed in and capabe of the safe operation of the Articuator, its attachments, and contros! NEVER aow chidren to operate the Articuator! NEVER aow chidren on or near the Articuator! NEVER operate the Articuator when chidren are present! ALWAYS cear area of a personne before operating the Articuator! Never operate the Articuator when chidren are present. Aways wear reativey tight and beted cothing to avoid entangement in moving parts. Wear sturdy rough-soed work shoes, as we as protective equipment for the eyes, hands, hearing and head. Never operate the Articuator or reated equipment in bare feet, sandas, or sneakers. Cear the cut area of any stones, branches or other debris that may be thrown and cause injury or damage. Verify that a safety decas are propery instaed, visibe, and inteigibe. ALWAYS stay cear of bades during operation! NEVER aow chidren to operate the Articuator! NEVER aow chidren on or near the Articuator! NEVER operate the Articuator when chidren are present! ALWAYS cear area of a personne before operating the Articuator! Never operate the Articuator when chidren are present. Be sure that the parking brake is set before attempting to start the engine. Operate ony in dayight or good artificia ight. Be sure that a auxiiary equipment switches (bades, ights, etc.) are in the OFF position before attempting to start the engine. If your Articuator is equipped with a ROPS (Ro Over Protection System), be sure to wear your seat bet. Never permit any person other than the operator to ride or board the Articuator at any time. Never aow riders! Never aow anyone near the Articuator whie operating. Be sure that the area behind you is cear before operating in reverse! Never aow anyone into the path of discharge. Never discharge in the direction of bystanders, vehices, or buidings. Do not stop or start suddeny when going up or down a hi. Avoid operating on steep sopes. Do not mow in reverse uness absoutey necessary - and then ony after carefu observation of entire area behind the Articuator. Use extreme care and maintain minimum ground speed when transporting on a hiside or over rough ground, and when operating cose to ditches, fences, or water. Reduce speed on sopes and in sharp turns to minimize potentia tipping or oss of contro. Use caution when changing directions on sopes. 15 Safety Information Maintenance Safety Rues 2 sowy over rough ground. Disengage the bades, stop the engine, set the parking brake, and remove the key before dismounting the Articuator or making any adjustments. Stop the Articuator immediatey upon striking any obstruction. Disengage the bades, turn off the engine, set the parking brake, remove the key, and inspect the Articuator for any damage. Aways repair any damage before resuming operation of the Articuator. Never adjust the mower deck height or ift the deck into transport position whie the bades are engaged. Never engage the bades with the mower decks raised into transport position. Never pace your hands or feet under the Articuator whie the engine is running. Stay we cear of any and a moving parts. Keep hands and feet away from the bades at a times during operation. Take a possibe precautions when eaving the Articuator unattended: disengage the bades, turn off the engine, set the parking brake, and remove the key anytime you eave the Articuator unattended. If your Articuator is equipped with headights and hazard ights, aways activate them whenever crossing or accessing any roadways, driveways, or parking ots. Watch for oncoming traffic. Hande fue with caution - it is exposive! Aways use approved fue containers; never hande fue near an open fame; never use fue as a sovent; never fue the Articuator whie the engine is running or hot; never fue the Articuator indoors; aways cean up any spied fue; never smoke around fue. Do not aow extended running of engine indoors - exhaust fumes are deady. 2.6 Maintenance Safety Rues ALWAYS disengage the bades, turn off the engine, set the parking brake, and remove the key before performing any service to, maintenance on, or adjustments to the Articuator! NEVER aow chidren on or around the Artcuator Never perform maintenance on the Articuator when chidren are present. Aways perform the appropriate maintenance schedue(s) in a timey fashion. Never aow anyone near any operator contros whie performing adjustments, service or maintenance. Aways use persona protection equipment such as eye, hand, head, and ear protection when performing any service or maintenance. 16 Safety Information Storage Safety Rues 2 Keep the Articuator engine area free of accumuated debris, fue, or excess grease and oi to reduce fire hazard. Keep the Articuator in good operating condition with a safety devices in pace. Check the bades frequenty. Verify that they are sharp, free of nicks and cracks, and securey fastened. Periodicay tighten a bots, nuts and screws and check that a fasteners are propery instaed to ensure that the Articuator is in safe operating condition. Upon competing any maintenance or service function, verify that a safety guards and devices are propery instaed before operating the Articuator. Verify that a warning abes and decas are propery instaed, visibe, and egibe. Aways remove debris from underneath the Articuator after each use. 2.7 Storage Safety Rues NEVER aow the extended running of any engine indoors! Exhaust gasses contain carbon monoxide, an odoress and deady poison! NEVER aow chidren on or around the Articuator! Never store the Articuator in any area accessibe by chidren. Never aow extended running of the engine indoors. Exhaust fumes are deady. Never store equipment with fue in the tank inside a buiding where fumes coud reach an open fame or spark. Aow the engine to coo before storing in an encosed area. Remove a accumuated debris from the drive unit, and both the top and bottom of the deck before storing. 17 Initia Set-Up Assemby 3 SECTION 3 Initia Set-Up 3.1 Assemby The Mode 425D Articuator requires a minimum amount of assemby before operation. Foow the steps beow to assembe the Articuator: (You may find it easier to assembe the Articuator whie it is sti on the skid). 1. Remove the oose deck (deck 1) and the rocker assemby from the skid. 2. On deck 1, remove the tie wraps which are retaining the bushings in the deck pivot pates, and in the rocker mount tube. 3. On the drive unit, remove the tie wraps which are retaining the deck bet and deck ift cabe. 4. Remove the 3/4 pin wedments & hardware, and 1/2-13 x 3 bots and nuts from the pivot pates on the deck assemby (deck 4). 5. Insta deck 1 onto the deck assemby. Side the pivot pates on deck 1 between the pivot pates on deck 4, and side the trap door (the zinc pated pate ocated under the rubber fap) UNDER the edge of deck 4, with the rubber fap riding ON TOP of deck 4. Bock up deck 1 to keep it parae with deck 4 during assemby. Re-insta 3/4 pins and hardware, and 1/2-13 x 3 bots and nuts into front & rear pivot pates. Tighten a hardware. (You may find it easier to insta the rear pivot pin if you ift the rear whee for greater cearance). 6. Insta the deck bet from deck 4 to deck 1. Route the front of the bet around the spinde puey on deck 1, then wrap the fat side of the bet back around the fat-faced ider puey, then the beve side of the bet back around the grooved ider puey, and the back of the bet returns to deck 4. (Refer to the deck bet iustration in the parts manua for greater detai). 7. Remove the oose 1 pin wedment & hardware from the rocker assemby. 8. Mount the rocker assemby to deck 1, with the swive whee to the front of the deck. Aign the pivot pates on the rocker assemby with the mount coar on the deck. Re-insta the pin wedment and hardware into the rocker mount coar. Tighten a hardware. 9. Mount the rocker pivot imit wedment (on the rear of the rocker assemby) between the two tabs on deck 1, secure with the cevis pin and hitch pin. 10. 18 3 Initia Set-Up Parking Brake 11. The deck ift cabes are factory caibrated. The adjustment nuts on the deck 1 cabe are ocked into position during shipping, eiminating the need for adjustment after re-assemby. Simpy insta the cabe into the mount pate on the side of the rocker assemby. Seat the ocked jam nuts against the back of the pate, and tighten the third nut to the front of the pate. Attach the cabe eyeet to the fork ocated to the front of the rocker assemby, and secure with the cevis pin & cotter pin. 12. Attach the hydrauic ift arm between the two mount pates on deck 1, secure with 3/8-16 bot & hardware. 13. Insta the 3 anti-scap whees into the bracket on the rear of deck 1. Secure with 1/2-13 x 1 bots & ock washers. (The anti-scap whees & mounting hardware are ocated in the utiity box to the right rear of the drive unit). 14. Attach the rear stabiizer between the two pates on the rear of deck 1. Secure ba swive end with 3/4 cevis pin & hitch pin. 3.2 Parking Brake ALWAYS set the parking brake before performing any set-up, inspection, adjustments, or maintenance to the Articuator! ALWAYS reease the parking brake before operating the Articuator! The parking brake is ocated to the eft of the operator seat, just in front of the eft steering contro arm. To set the parking brake, grasp the hande and pu upward, increasing the brake tension, unti the tension prevents any further trave of the hande. The ratchet gear wi ock the hande into position. If, whie the parking brake is set, the key switch is turned to the RUN or START position, the parking brake indicator ight wi come on (the red ight ocated to the upper right corner of the contro pane), and an audibe warning beeper wi sound. This is to warn you that the brake is set, and you shoud reease the brake before attempting to operate the Articuator. Reeasing the parking brake wi deactivate both the indicator ight and the warning beeper. To reease the parking brake, pu upward on the hande to reieve the brake tension, depress the button on the end of the hande, and sowy return the hande a the way down to its origina position D/425D/Odoc Initia Set-Up Go to for atest changes in this manua.

19 Initia Set-Up Fue Fue Diese Fue is fammabe! NEVER store diese fue in unapproved containers, in confined areas, or near spark or open fame! NEVER smoke near diese fue! ALWAYS turn off engine before refueing! NEVER refue indoors or when engine is hot! ALWAYS cean up a spied fue before starting engine! NEVER smoke whie refueing! NEVER aow fue tank to drain competey of fue! Air can get into the fue system and disabe the engine, necessitating beeding of entire fue system prior to operation! The Mode 325D/425D Articuator is equipped with an 8-gaon fue tank, which is ocated behind the eft fender. The Articuator is shipped dry (no fue) from the factory, so you wi need to fue the Articuator before operating. The fue tank cap aso serves as a gauge indicating the fue eve in the tank. Do not attempt to fue the Articuator unti you read and understand the entire INITIAL SET-UP section of this manua. Diese Fue: Use ony No. 2 diese fue oi. Do not use any other aternative fue. Kerosene and ow quaity diese fue oi wi adversey affect the engine. Aways use a strainer when fiing the fue tank. Contaminants in the fue can adversey affect the fue injection pump. Do not aow the fue tank to drain competey of fue. This can aow air into the fue system. If this happens, the fue system wi have to be bed before restarting the engine. 3.4 Engine Cover/Operator Seat Pan Aways cean the entire engine area and deck area of any excess grease, oi, fue, or debris to prevent damage to the equipment, fire hazard, and projectie hazards! In order to fuy access the mower deck, many of the drive components or contros, or the engine area, you wi need to open the operator seat pan or the engine cover: Operator seat pan: Facing the operator seat, firmy grasp one of the handes ocated to Initia Set-Up 325D/425D/Odoc Go to for atest changes in this manua.

20 3 Initia Set-Up Fue Shut-Off Vave the eft and right rear of the operator seat. Pu the reease ever (ocated in the seat pan just beow the ift hande) toward the ift hande. Lift the operator seat pan a the way forward, to its maximum position, unti the gas shock ocks into pace. If assistance is required when either ifting or owering the operator seat pan, have someone hep you with the second hande ocated on the other side of the operator seat. Engine cover: Reease the two rubber atches ocated at the front of the engine cover. Using the hande on top of the cover, ift the cover back a the way unti the imit cabes become taut, hoding the cover in the open position. Cean the entire engine area (under the engine cover) and mower deck area (under the operator seat pan) of a excess grease, oi, fue, grass, or debris before operating the Articuator. This wi hep prevent damage to the equipment, fire hazard, and projectie hazards. Be sure both the operator seat pan and engine cover are cosed, atched, and secure. 3.5 Fue Shut-Off Vave The fue shut-off vave is ocated under the fue tank, between the fue tank and the fue fiter (the fue fiter is ocated under the engine cover, behind the hydrauic oi tank, to the eft of the engine). 21 Initia Set-Up Air Ceaner 3 Engine Operator s Manua ocated at the back of this manua for the proper procedures. When operating in temperatures ranging from F (0-25 C), engine oi shoud be MIL-L-2104C or have properties of API cassification CD/CE grades, with an SAE viscosity grade of 10W-30. Due to the nature of the awn care industry, it is assumed that operation of the Articuator wi typicay be in air temperatures within the above isted range. In the unikey event that you wi be operating the Articuator in air temperatures outside of this range, consut the Kubota Diese Engine Operator s Manua ocated in the back of this manua for the proper SAE viscosity grade of oi that shoud be used. 3.7 Air Ceaner The air ceaner is ocated under the engine cover, to the upper eft of the engine. There are two fiter eements within the air ceaner. The cap (ocated on the rear of the air ceaner) is opened by simutaneousy pushing it inward and turning it counter-cockwise. Check that both fiter eements are cean and free of debris. Cean or repace if necessary prior to operating the Articuator. 3.8 Cooant The radiator is pressurized! NEVER check the cooant whie the engine is running! COOLANT IS HOT! Aways aow ampe time for cooant to coo before checking, changing, or repairing eaks! Cean Radiator Daiy! Overheating may occur if radiator is not ceaned daiy. Brush out and cean radiator and hood gris daiy to prevent overheating!! Be sure the cooant system is fied to the proper eve, the cooant is mixed propery, and is in good condition! ALWAYS check to be sure there are no cooant eaks before operating the Articuator! Incorrect mixture, inadequate cooant eve, poor condition, or eaks of any kind can cause severe engine damage! Be sure engine is turned off, and aowed to coo. The Modes 325D & 425D Articuators use a specific type of oi in the hydrauic system. This oi is formuated to proong the ife of the hydrauic pumps. LasTec has deveoped a kit, which contains (2) 2 1/2 gaon reusabe containers of oi and (2) oi fiters. This is enough oi and fiters for (2) compete hydrauic system oi changes (system capacity is approximatey 7 quarts). The hydrauic oi kit part number is Machines from Seria No to shoud switch to this oi upon the next schedued hydrauic oi change. Machines as of Seria No are suppied with this oi at the factory, and must continue to use this oi in the hydrauic system, or the warranty wi be voided on the hydrauic pumps. With the engine turned off, check the hydrauic fuid eve and condition. The hydrauic oi tank is ocated under the engine cover, to the eft of the engine. The hydrauic tank is transucent, enabing easy viewing of the oi eve. Maintain a minimum oi eve within three to four inches from the top of the tank. Do not overfi. Inspect the entire hydrauic system for eaks. Areas to inspect incude the motors and pumps, the fiter, tank, and cooers, the deck ift arm cyinder (under the front eft of the frame), a hoses, camps, and fittings, and the entire area under the hydrauic system. If any eaks are discovered, aow ampe time for the hydrauic fuid to coo. Repair or repace the defective parts and re-fi the hydrauic system before operating the Articuator. 23 Initia Set-Up Hydrauic Pump Adjustment Hydrauic Pump Adjustment Aways use jack stands when adjusting the hydro pumps! Keep everyone cear of a contros whie adjusting the hydro pumps! Occasionay, you may need to adjust the hydrauic pumps to keep the drive whees from creeping. Foow these procedures to adjust the pumps: 1. Lift the rear of the drive unit unti the drive tires cear the ground. Use jack stands for safety. 2. Be sure steering contro arms are ocked in neutra position. 3. Start the drive unit, and set the throtte arm to 3/4 fu. 4. If either drive tire rotates, you need to adjust the hydrauic pump ink arm for that tire. (The ink arm is attached to the bottom of the steering contro arm). To adjust the ink arm, oosen the jam nut from the hydrauic pump ink arm. (The jam nut is ocated between the rod end and the ink arm). Sowy turn the ink arm, watching the tire as it turns. If the tire begins turning faster, turn the ink arm in the opposite direction unti it sows, and eventuay stops. Tighten the jam nut to ock the ink arm into this position. 5. When finished, turn off the drive unit. 6. Be sure that both ink arm jam nuts are tight. 7. Lift the drive unit, remove the jack stands, and ower the unit to the ground Hydrauic Pump Bets NEVER inspect, adjust, or change the hydrauic pump bets whie the engine is running! The hydrauic pump drive bets are ocated under the operator seat pan, between the engine main drive puey and the hydrauic pumps both to the eft and right of the engine. Each pump mount pivots away from the engine at the frame above the pump. The tension springs ocated on the front of each pump tensions the bets to the proper eve. Check the bets for visibe wear or damage. If either bet appears excessivey worn, damaged, cracked, weathered, or otherwise appears to pose an unsuitabe or unsafe operating condition, repace the bet. If for some reason this spring becomes oose, detached, or fatigued, the pump mount wi not propery tension the bet Gearbox Be sure to use the correct fuid in the gearbox! Check fuid eve and quaity daiy! Incorrect fuid, inadequate fuid eve, or contaminated fuid wi cause gearbox damage! Check the oi eve and condition in the gearbox. The gearbox shoud be approximatey haf fu (16 ounces). Add oi if ow. If the oi appears excessivey contaminated, change the oi. Use Amoco Permagear EP 100 gear oi. Inspect the entire area around and under the gearbox for any oi eakage. If a eak is discovered, repair it and refi the gearbox before operating the Articuator Gearbox Bets NEVER inspect, adjust, or change the gearbox bet whie the engine is running! Tension the gearbox bets to 70 FT LBS using tension guage suppied by LasTec ONLY! Improper gearbox bet tension can cause serious damage to the Engine! 25 Initia Set-Up Mower Deck Drive Bet 3 Check both bets for visibe wear or damage. If either bet appears excessivey worn, damaged, cracked, weathered, or otherwise appears to pose an unsuitabe or unsafe operating condition, repace it. The mower deck bet drive puey (ocated on top of the gearbox) shoud aign parae with the ider pueys and drive puey ocated on the mower deck. Check both bets for proper tension. Use the V-bet tension gauge suppied by LasTec, measure the gearbox bet tension ONLY. Proper gearbox bet tension is 70 FT LBS. IMPORTANT!: IMPROPER GEARBOX BELT TENSION CAN CAUSE SERIOUS DAM- AGE TO THE ENGINE, AND MAY VOID THE WARRANTY! If you do not aready have the proper V-bet tension gauge from LasTec, you can order one from your LasTec distributor - LasTec Part No To adjust the gearbox bet tension, turn the adjusting nuts (ocated to either side of the gearbox) to either tighten or oosen the gearbox bets. Be sure to adjust both nuts eveny, in order to keep the gearbox as parae to the frame and mower deck as possibe. To check the gearbox aignment, simpy measure the distance between the ower mounts and the upper adjustment pates on each side. Be sure to repace both adjusting bot ocking screws before attempting to operate the Articuator Mower Deck Drive Bet NEVER inspect, adjust, or change the deck drive bet whie the engine is running! ALWAYS cean the entire deck area (under the operator seat pan) of a grease, oi, fue, grass, or debris to prevent fire & projectie hazards! The spring-oaded ider system automaticay tensions the bet to the proper eve. Check the bet for visibe wear or damage. The weight transfer springs hep to ighten the mower deck by transferring excess weight to the drive unit. The eimination of excess weight aows more agie foating of the mower deck, resuting in a higher quaity cut and a ower incidence of turf damage. The weight transfer springs are ocated under the operator seat pan, running from the mounting bot on the right front of the frame to the two pivot arms ocated in front of the right steering contro arm. The pivot arms extend to the outer eft and right of the frame, and are connected by chains to the eft and right sides of the mower deck. Check to be sure that a weight transfer springs are propery mounted and secure, both to the mounting bot in front and the pivot arms in back. Aso verify that the chains running from the outer pivot arms to the decks are propery mounted and intact. Proper operation of the weight transfer system wi aow you to ift the rear of the mower deck by hand with itte effort Jack Stand Aways be sure the parking brake is set before operating the jack stand! Never operate the jack stand with the engine running! Keep everyone cear of a contros whie operating the jack stand! Modes 325D & 425D Articuators prior to Seria Number were equipped with a jack stand to ift the front of the mower, to be used during equipment inspections, adjustments, and maintenance. On these units, the jack stand is ocated on the right side of the frame, just in front of the contro pane. When not in use, it shoud be mounted parae to the frame, and be tensioned against the base of the contro pane to prevent excessive movement, wear, and noise. Aways be sure the parking brake is set prior to operation of the jack stand! To operate the jack stand, support the ong end with one hand, whie turning the crank hande on the other end counter-cockwise to aeviate the tension of the jack stand against the base of the contro pane. Once it is oose, pu the pin from the jack stand mount bracket (ocated on the frame). Competey remove the jack stand from the mount bracket. Turn the jack stand verticay so that the crank hande orients to the top and the foot orients to the bottom. Repace the jack stand onto the mount bracket in the vertica position, and repace the pin, ocking the jack stand into pace. Turn the crank hande cockwise to begin extension of the jack. 28 3 Initia Set-Up Bades When repacing the jack stand, remember to tension the foot against the base of the contro pane in order to prevent excessive movement, wear, and noise Bades Never inspect, adjust, change, or perform any other maintenance to the bades whie the engine is running! Aways turn off the bades, turn off the engine, remove the key, and set the parking brake before attempting to inspect, adjust, change, or perform any other maintenance to the bades! Keep a personne cear of a contros whie inspecting, adjusting, changing, or performing maintenance to the bades! The Mode 325D/425D Articuator utiizes three/four individua 25 high-ift bades. NEVER go near, or expose yoursef or others in any way to the bades whie the engine is running! ALWAYS turn off the bades, turn off the engine, remove the key, and set the parking brake before attempting to inspect, adjust, change or perform any other maintenance to the bades! Keep a personne cear of a contros whie inspecting, adjusting, changing, or performing maintenance to the bades! Inspect a bades for proper instaation, orientation, tightness, sharpness, and overa condition. Be sure the ift fins are oriented to the top of the bades. Verify that the mount bots are secure, the bades are sharp, and free of any nicks, cracks, or bends. Aways repace any damaged, du, or missing bades before operating the Articuator. LasTec aso offers optiona ow-ift bades and muching bades for certain cutting appications. 29 Initia Set-Up Steering Contro Arms 3 Adjust the seat forward or back so that the operator can easiy reach the contro pane, steering contro arms, and mower deck height adjustment peda Steering Contro Arms Check that both steering contro arms are propery inked, free of debris, and operating freey. Swing the arms toward the operator seat, removing them from the neutra ock position. Sowy push both arms a the way forward, then a the way back. They shoud both move smoothy and easiy, with no sticking, obstruction, or uneven tension. They shoud aso snap back to neutra position, which is straight up and down and centered with the neutra position ock (notch in the frame). Be sure to return and ock both contro arms into neutra position Lights Check the function of the headights and hazard ights. From the operator seat, turn the key switch cockwise to the RUN position. DO NOT START THE ENGINE. Using the togge switches ocated on the ower right of the contro pane, turn on first the headights, then the hazard ights, checking them for proper operation. If any ights fai to activate, repair the probem before attempting to operate the Articuator. Turn the headights and fashers off, and return the key switch to the OFF position. NOTE: Any time the ignition switch is activated for 9 seconds or more, an audibe warning beeper wi sound unti either the ignition switch is turned off, or the engine is started Mower Deck Height NEVER attempt to change the cutting deck height whie the engine is running! The Mode 325D & 425D Articuators have a mower deck height range of 1" to 4 1/2", in 1/4" increments. If you wish to change the deck height, do so before attempting to operate the Articuator. The mower deck height adjustment ever has (1) permanenty fixed spacer, and (16) adjustabe spacers, each equa to 1/4" of deck height adjustment. The deck is at its minimum height (a deck height of 1") when ony the fixed spacer is in front of the ever ock bracket.
