This manua contains maintenance schedues and procedures which shoud be foowed for satisfactory equipment performance. You are encouraged to contact Hausted concerning our comprehensive Annua Maintenance Agreements. WARNINGS indicate the potentia for danger to personne, and CAUTIONS indicate the potentia for damage to equipment. 8 UnCrating instructions 2 important - REPORT ANY SHIPPING DAMAGE IMMEDIATELY: inform shipper of any damages - eave carton intact. Leave the equipment in the receiving area unti inspection is compete. CAUTION - POSSIBLE EQUIPMENT DAMAGE: this crate contains fragie expensive medica equipment. Uncrate and hande carefuy. if after uncrating the equipment you find any damage (no matter how sight), show it to your supervisor. UNPACKING INSTRUCTIONS: Your Hausted equipment has been carefuy packed at our manufacturing pant to ensure safe shipment to your medica faciity. There are severa procedures you must foow to put your new equipment in service. These procedures ony take a few minutes to compete and are required to ensure proper operation of the equipment. 1. Cut the two bands around the shipping carton. 2. remove the top haf of the carton and cut one side of the bottom haf. 3. Remove the equipment from the carton. 4. Check to see if a features of the equipment work propery. If a the features work, advance to step 5. If any of the features of the equipment do not work propery, ca Hausted for service at: Cean the equipment using mid detergent to remove any dirt accumuated during shipment, and pace the equipment into service. 2-1

12 operating instructions Braking and Steering operation Warning - Persona Injury Hazard: Patient entry, egress and transfer from the VIC chair shoud aways be from the center side rai ocation with the side rai in the down position and brakes ocked. the brakes shoud aways be appied when patient is not being transported. Figure appying the Brakes The four whee centra braking system is activated by depressing the red peda at the foot end of the unit on the patients eft side (Figure 3-1). To fuy engage the brakes, the peda shoud be pressed to approximatey 45. A four caster shoud be ocked from swiveing and rotating reeasing the Brakes Depress the green peda at the head end of the unit on the patients eft, unti the peda is in a horizonta position (Figure 3-2). A four whees shoud rotate and swive freey. Figure 3-2 Figure appying the Steering Lock From the head end of the VIC chair, depress the green peda downward into ocked position (Figure 3-3). Push the VIC chair forward one caster at the foot end wi ock into a non-swive mode. This aows straight steering by the attendant, when pushing from the head end reeasing the Steering Lock Depress the red peda at either of the right 3-3 side corners of the unit, unti the peda is in a horizonta position (Figure 3-2). A four whees shoud rotate and swive freey.

13 operating instructions Top Adjustment Warning - Persona Injury Hazard: When not in use, do not eave the VIC chair in a recine position. at no time shoud the patient be permitted to enter or exit from the ends of the VIC chair when in partia or tota recine position. Figure 3-4 the patient shoud be paced in a fuy upright position with chair in ow height when transporting patient. the patient shoud never be transported when the VIC is in a recine position. Figure 3-5 the VIC chair has a warning abe on the top of the base cover that states: When chair is in the non-transport mode: Patient must remain fuy upright; Patient must never be recined; Patient must never be eft unattended raising the Top Press the pump peda (peda nearest the head end) to the foor (Figure 3-4), then reease the pressure on the peda. Repeat this process unti desired height is obtained. Use smooth strokes on pump peda to ensure patient comfort. Figure owering the Top Press down on the reease peda (peda nearest the foot end) (Figure 3-5) unti desired height is obtained. Figure recining the Chair Back Squeeze the green recine ever on the right side of the back section (Figure 3-6). Push back on the back section unti it is at desired position, (Figure 3-7) position can vary from upright to 10 trendeendurg positions. Note that chair has a degree indicator ocated on the ower back section on the right side of the chair. To pace back into upright position, squeeze the recine hande and ift up on the back section. 3-4

Figure independent Operation Hod and support eg section by the bottom of the frame tube (Figure 3-8). Pu out on the end of the red ever (Figure 3-8). Rotate the ever cockwise whie positioning the eg section (Figure 3-9). Once desired position of the eg section is reached, reease the ever and the eg section wi be ridged (Figure 3-10). When the eg section is independent, it can be repositioned at any time by turning the ever cockwise (Figure 3-9). Figure 3-9 NOTE: Aways support the eg section when turning the red ever returning to Chair Mode Support the eg section, turn the ever countercockwise whie pushing in on the ever (Figure 3-11). The ever wi side inward to an inactive position. Once the ever is inactive, adjust the eg section unti it is in ine with the back section (Figure 3-12). 15 operating instructions Adjustabe footrest Warning - Persona Injury Hazard: The VIC chair has a warning abe on the top of the base cover that states: When chair is in the non-transport mode: Patient must remain fuy upright; Patient must never be recined; Patient must never be eft unattended. Figure repositioning the Footrest The footrest has three positions; retracted, ower and the upper positions. With the pan in the retracted position pu out, on the handes on either side of pan (Figure 3-13). The footrest wi drop into the ower position (Figure 3-14). To pace the footrest into the upper position, grasp the handes on both sides of the pan. Tit the pan up whie ifting (Figure 3-15). Once the pan is up a the way, tit the pan out unti it ocks into position (Figure 3-16). To return the footrest into the retracted position, tit the pan up whie etting it side down, if needed, (Figure 3-15), into the ower position (Figure 3-13), continue titing the footrest unti it is in the retracted position. 16 operating instructions Hinging rais Warning - Persona Injury Hazard: Patient entry, egress and transfer from the VIC chair shoud aways be from the center side rai ocation with the side rai in the down position and brakes ocked. Figure repositioning the Rai The VIC Rai has two positions, up and down, both positions ock the rai into pace. To put the rai down, whie supporting the rai (Figure 3-17), squeeze the two red tabs under the seat (Figure 3-18). Aow the rai to hinge a the way down unti it ocks into pace (Figure 3-19). To raise the rai, squeeze the two red tabs under the seat (Figure 3-18). Lift the rai a the way up unti it ocks into pace. Figure 3-18 Figure

Rear View Transport Mode (Latera Position) Mode Definitions See Figure Transport mode is when green arrow by the seat ock knob is aigned with green arrow on the base and seat is ocked. Non-transport mode is when chair seat has been ocked 90 countercockwise from transport mode. Non-transport mode is to be used ony for performing cinica procedures. Side View The transport mode is when the green arrows on the seat and back section are aigned, the back section is in the fu upright position and the chair is in ow height. Rotate the chair cockwise 90 (Figure 3-23), unti it ocks into the transport mode (see Figure 3-20). Insure the chair is ocked in the transport mode (see Figure 3-20) before transporting or recining the patient. Transfer of Patient from VIC Chair to a Secondary Device Patient Preparation 1. Leave patient secured with restraint straps unti actua patient transfer is to begin Secondary Device Preparation 1. Lock the caster brakes on secondary device. 2. Pace device into owest vertica position. 3. Leve patient surface to a horizonta pane. 4. Lower patient rai on transfer side of device. VIC Chair Preparation 1. Ensure chair is in the transport mode (see Section 3-6). 2. adjust chair height so the seat section is eve with patient surface of secondary device. 3. ower the patient side rai on the transfer side of the VIC chair. 4. Move the VIC chair so that both devices are facing one another on the specified transfer sides. 5. Recine the VIC chair into horizonta pane. 6. Maneuver chair so the transfer sides of the two devices are making contact (imit transfer gap as much as possibe). 7. Lock the VIC chair caster brakes. 3-11

Transfer of Patient from a Secondary Device to VIC Chair Foow same procedure as in Transferring from VIC chair to a secondary device above except: You must verify that the VIC chair is positioned so that the patients abdomen is in ine with the chair seat before attempting to transfer a patient to the VIC chair, otherwise tipping may occur. 23 recommended preventive maintenance 4 CAUTION POSSIBLE EQUIPMENT DAMAGE HAZARD Steam ceaning and pressure washing of chair is not recommended and can void warranty. Procedure Schedue Materia Lubricate a moving and siding 6 Months Lubricating oi, ight-duty grease, parts and hinge points wax stick ubricant. NEVER LUBRICATE GAS SPRING, MOTOR AND MECH-LOCK SHAFTS Inspect a fasteners to ensure proper fit, position and tightness (incuding nuts, bots, etc.). 3 Months Proper size wrench and screwdriver. Ceaning mattress and pads After each use Meta Fie, proper coor paint (specify coor when ordering). Inspect a surfaces and remove any user deveoped sharp or burred areas. Appy touch-up where required. Cean externa surfaces to remove any foreign materias or contaminants. Periodicay After each use Meta Fie, proper coor paint (specify coor when ordering). Medium strength anti-bacteria ceaners, stainess stee ceaner & poish. NOTE: If units are pressure washed, ubrication of a moving and siding parts shoud be done afterwards. The baance of the warranty period is imited to repacement parts ony. Such correction wi be the soe remedy for the defect.
