3 Measuring principe Measuring principe VEGABAR 5 The sensor eement for measuring ranges up to 60 bar is the CERTEC measuring ce with rugged ceramic diaphragm. The hydrostatic pressure of the product or the process pressure causes a capacitance change in the measuring ce via the metaic process diaphragm and the isoating system. This change is converted into a corresponding output signa. The sensor eement for measuring ranges from 00 bar is a wire strain gauge (DMS) on the back side of the process diaphragm. There, the process pressure causes a resistance change, which is converted into an appropriate output signa. VEGABAR 5, 54 The sensor eement is the CERTEC measuring ce with front-fush, abrasion resistant ceramic diaphragm. The hydrostatic pressure of the medium or the process pressure causes a capacitance change in the measuring ce via the diaphragm. It consists of the ceramic-capacitive CERTEC measuring ce and a specia, temperature-compensated isoating system. The hydrostatic pressure of the product or the process pressure causes a capacitance change in the measuring ce via the metaic process diaphragm and the isoating iquid. This change is converted into a corresponding output signa. The temperature vaue can be dispayed via the indicating and adjustment modue or processed via the signa output. VEGABAR 5, 54 - cimate compensated The sensor eement is an encapsuated CERTEC absoute pressure measuring ce with front-fush, abrasion-resistant ceramic diaphragm. The hydrostatic pressure of the medium or the process pressure causes a capacitance change in the measuring ce via the ceramic diaphragm. This capacitance change is converted into an eectrica signa, checked against an integrated reference pressure measurement and outputted as measured vaue via the output signa. The process pressure causes a resistance change which is converted into a corresponding output signa and outputted as measured vaue. For measuring ranges up to 6 bar, a piezoresistive sensor eement with interna transmission iquid is impemented, for measuring ranges from 5 bar, a strain gauge (DMS) sensor eement on the back side of the stainess stee diaphragm (dry). 6 Instrument seection Instrument seection Appication area VEGABAR 5 The VEGABAR is a pressure transmitter with chemica sea for pressure measurement of highy corrosive and hot iquids. 5 4 VEGABAR 5, 54 VEGABAR is a pressure transmitter for use in the paper, food processing and pharmaceutica industries as we as in water/sewage water pants. Depending on the version, it is used for eve, gauge, absoute pressure or vacuum measurement. Measured products are gases, vapours and iquids, aso those containing abrasive substances. VEGABAR 5, 54 - cimate compensated The version 4 0 ma/hart - cimate-compensated is suitabe for appications under difficut conditions (cod medium and humid environment). VEGABAR 5 VEGABAR is a pressure transmitter for measurement of overpressure, absoute pressure or vacuum. Measured products are gases, vapours and iquids in measuring ranges up to 4000 bar (400 MPa); with front-fush version aso viscous iquids in measuring ranges up to 600 bar (60 MPa). 10 Mounting 6 Mounting Instaation position The instruments function in any instaation position. But the instaation position can infuence the measurement, depending on the measuring system. This can be compensated by a position correction. Chemica pump It is usefu to seect an instaation position you can easiy reach for mounting and connecting as we as ater retrofitting of an indicating and adjustment modue. For this purpose, the housing can be rotated by 0 without the use of any toos. You can aso insta the indicating and adjustment modue in four different positions (each dispaced by 90 ). Mounting exampes The foowing iustrations show mounting exampes and measurement setups. Its strengths are the sma, front-fush process fitting, aso for sma tube diameters, as we as the chemicay resistant process diaphragm. The instrument measures the hydrostatic pressure of the iquid coumn independent of foam on the product surface. Its advantages are the high resistance diaphragm materias and the ow oi voume of the isoating diaphragm. Hence the temperature infuence of the isoating diaphragm is kept ow. Drinking water network Fig. 8: Pressure measurement on the drinking water network with VEGABAR 5 The water pressure in drinking water networks is continuousy monitored. Because pumping stations are often situated in remote areas, there is a great demand for maintenance free, reiabe measurement technoogy. The VEGABAR 5 pressure transmitter meets these requirements. With its robust ceramic CERTEC measuring ce, VEGABAR 5 is the best choice for monitoring pressure in pipeine systems. Leve measurement in the ower section prevents the agitator from running dry. For this purpose, the VEGABAR 54 pressure transmitter with ba vave fitting is used. The eectronics is competey encapsuated to protect against vibration and moisture. The terminas for votage suppy as we as the pug with I²C interface for parameter adjustment are ocated on the upper side of the eectronics. On the doube chamber housing, these connection eements are ocated in the separate connection compartment. Votage suppy Depending on the version, the suppy votage and the current signa are carried on the same two-wire connection cabe. The VEGA power suppy units VEGATRENN 49AEx, VEGASTAB 690, VEGADIS 7 as we as VEGAMET signa conditioning instruments are suitabe for power suppy. When one of these instruments is used, a reiabe separation of the suppy circuits from the mains circuits according to DIN VDE 006 part 0 is ensured for the sensor. Operating votage - 6 V DC Permissibe residua rippe - U pp < V (< 00 Hz) - U pp < 0 mv (00 0 khz) Connection cabe The sensors are connected with standard cabe without screen. An outer cabe diameter of 5 9 mm ensures the sea effect of the cabe entry. If eectromagnetic interference is expected which is above the test vaues of EN 66 for industria areas, screened cabe shoud be used. The cabe screens to the power suppy unit and to the next distributor must be connected to each other and aso connected to ground potentia via a ceramic capacitor (e.g. nf, 500 V). The ow frequency potentia equaisation currents are thus suppressed, but the protective effect against high frequency interference signas remains. Overview The sensors can be adjusted with the foowing adjustment media: With the indicating and adjustment modue With externa indicating and adjustment unit an adjustment software according to FDT/DTM standard, e.g. PACTware and PC as we as via systems from other manufacturers, dependent on the signa output: A HART handhed (4 0 ma/hart) The adjustment program AMS (4 0 ma/hart and Foundation Fiedbus) The adjustment program PDM (Profibus PA) A configuration too (Foundation Fiedbus) The entered parameters are generay saved in the sensor, optionay aso in the indicating and adjustment modue or in the adjustment program.. Indicating and adjustment modue PLICSCOM The puggabe indicating and adjustment modue is used for measured vaue indication, operation and diagnosis. It is equipped with an iuminated fu dot matrix as we as four keys for adjustment. an aternative the connection via the HART signa can be carried out on any position of the signa cabe with 4 0 ma/hart sensors. After mounting, the sensor as we as the indicating and adjustment modue are spash-proof even without housing cover. PDM For HART and Profibus PA sensors, device descriptions are avaiabe as EDDs for the adjustment program PDM. The device descriptions are aready incuded in the current version of the PDM. Newer instrument drivers that are not yet deivered with the PDM are avaiabe in the downoad section. AMS For HART and Foundation Fiedbus sensors, device descriptions are avaiabe as EDDs for the adjustment program AMS. The device descriptions are aready incuded in the current version of the AMS. PACTware/DTM As an aternative to the indicating and adjustment modue, the sensor can aso be configured via a Windows PC. To do this, the configuration software PACTware and a suitabe instrument driver (DTM) according to the FDT standard are required. The current PACTware version as we as a avaiabe DTMs are compied in a DTM Coection. The DTMs can aso be integrated into other frame appications according to the FDT standard. A device DTMs are avaiabe as a free-of-charge standardversion and as a fu version that must be purchased. In the standard version, a functions for compete setup are aready incuded. An assistant for simpe project configuration simpifies the adjustment consideraby. Saving/printing the project as we as import/export functions are aso part of the standard version. In the fu version there is aso an extended print function for compete project documentation as we as a save function for measured vaue and echo curves. In addition, there is a tank cacuation program as we as a mutiviewer for dispay and anaysis of the saved measured vaue and echo curves. Connection of the PC via VEGACONNECT The interface converter VEGACONNECT is required for connection of the PC. On the computer side, the connectionis made via USB interface. The VEGACONNECT is paced instead of the indicating and adjustment modue to the sensor, the connection to the sensor is made automaticay. As 6 Process pressure/hydrostatic Pressure transmitter
