The key to improving a descaing process centers on the spray and the nozze which produces it. The most obvious benefit for the user of the SCL MSTR HP is its significanty increased spray impact density providing even better descaing and higher surface quaity. components are de signed to produce a spray that focusses and concentrates the water energy for maximum impact. The SCLMSTR HP nozze tips form a perfecty defined, razor sharp spray jet. 3 Optimized parameters in water fow zone maximised water veocity Lecher Descaing Pressure Gauge for precise pressure data With the new Lecher DSC LING PRSSUR GUG the water pressure can be measured directy at the spray header in front of a descaing nozze by simpy taking one nozze out and putting the pressure sensor in instead. With the exact vaue of the water pressure avaiabe at the nozze a much more accurate simuation of the existing situa tion and the proposed modifi cation can be made with the Lecher DSCL software. It is aso possibe to detect potentia pressure osses in the pipe work. 4 Standard SCLMSTR HP Series The descaing system is avai abe from LCHLR in two distinct designs: The arger series SCLMSTR HP and the compact series MiniSCLMS TR HP. The series is designed for use where there are no imitations on avaiabe space. Fow rates and spray anges are determined by the nozze tips, an identica range being avaiabe for both systems. The minimum pitch () be tween nozzes is determined by the tip retaining nut. For the SCLMSTR HP the minimum pitch, using the stand ard nut (product no ) is 63 mm). If a coser nozze pitch is required, LCHLR offers a specia retaining nut (product no ). This aows a minimum pitch of 0 mm. 6 MiniSCLMSTR HP Compact Nozze System for Lower Spray Heights Series The MiniSCLMSTR HP ( Series) is a compact system for use where ower spray heights are necessary. Such as in the descaing of thin sabs, beam banks, rais, biets and rounds. The minimum spray height (h 2 ) is normay 0 mm, because the nozzes cannot be physicay paced coser together. (see fig. 1) 2. nozzes offset toward the nearest outside edge sprays directed away from the center of the strip. This resuts in better drainage and it is easier to guide the strip. (see fig. 2) Nozze rrangements To guarantee the correct aignment of the nozze tip (1 degree offset see fig. 1, 2), the weding nippe must be posi tioned on the spray header such that the fats on the tip are parae to the header ongitudina axis. We recom mend that you do this with our aignment tip (fig. 1, 2, 4). It ensures proper positioning of the nippe during weding. Referring to fig. 3 beow, aignment tips are inserted into the base. Then a strip edge is used to easiy position and wed each nippe. Onehanded Nozze ssemby Descaing headers are often ocated in areas where it is difficut to reach every nozze. This is particuary true of nozzes ocated underneath the ros where you can often reach the nozze with one hand ony. The new SCLMSTR nozze has been designed to ensure easy assemby in those ocations by doing most of the assemby prior to instaation. The tip, stabiizer and strainer are assembed as one unit. This assemby unit is then inserted into the base and rotated unti the fats are aigned aowing further insertion and cap thread engagement. Thread engagement cannot take pace unti aignment is accompished. The cap shoud not be tight ened to more than 20 Nm (Standard SCLMSTR ) and 200 Nm (MiniSCL MSTR )of torque in order to prevent damage to the tip. fig. 1 fig. 2 utomatic djustment of the Nozze Tip The required 1 degree offset is integrated into every nozze tip. Consequenty, assembing the nozze tip incorrecty is absoutey impossibe. Once the cap is tightened, the nozze is in the proper position. Therefore, a reguar nozze inspection program shoud be estabished to ensure proper performance of the nozze at a times. The intervas for such a program must be estabished at each instaation. Factors such as soid contents in the water can cause wide variations in nozze wear rates. 9

10 Improved Measurement Techniques the Basis of Optima Nozze Design The basis for optima design is the abiity to accuratey and precisey measure and anayse performance. LCHLR has deveoped the techniques to do this. Using these techniques, reiabe data on voume, pressure, impact force and dropet size can be acquired in the design phase of nozzes. This data is used directy in the deveopment process to optimize product design and manufacture. Important factors in the design and evauation of de scaing nozzes are impact and distribution.
