9 UK MIL AIP AD 2 - EGVN MAR 04 1 Airport regulations EGVN AD LOCAL TRAFFIC REGULATIONS Airfield is PPR through Brize Norton Operations. Use of aerodrome is governed by regulations applicable to Brize Norton CTR. 2 Ground Movement Restricted taxiway access along Taxiways 1 and 7 for C5, B747, A340 AND An 24 aircraft; pilots should expect to turn on loops at the end of the runway and backtrack to dispersal. 3 CAT II/III Operations Nil - but subject to the appropriate references being achieved at DH, the ILS beam structure is suitable for autocoupled approaches to the Rwy 26 Threshold. Rwy 08 ILS, Auto-coupled approaches prohibited. 4 Warnings a. The aerodrome lies within the Oxford AIAA. Oxford Kiddlington ATZ overlays north eastern corner of the Brize Norton CTR. b. Light aircraft flying club operates seven days a week (visual circuit height 1,000ft QFE). c. Aerodrome is notified parachute / free-fall drop zone up to 15,000 ft. d. Due non-compliance with FM Immunity, VC10 aircraft carrying out ILS approaches will be subject to radar monitoring.* 5 Helicopter Operations a. Helicopters operate South of Taxiway 7 normally not above ft QFE. b. Helicopters should normally approach and depart from the Main Runway & hover taxi to dispersal as required. 6 Use of Runways a. Pilots who require the full length of Rwy 26 should inform ATC as they may need to hold short of the 26 loop to protect the ILS signals. b. Heavy aircraft may only carry out 180 turns on the Rwy in exceptional circumstances. c. Runways have non-standard gradients. 7 Training Limited training available because of noise abatement procedures; restrictions on visual circuits apply. Captains intending to operate within the NWMTA are to ensure that the details of their flights are notified to RAF Valley operations before take-off ( ). Whenever possible they should also attempt to deconflict their flights from any anticipated Hawk flight tests in the NWMTA. NITON In order to reduce RT phraseology an abbreviated clearance will be passed to acft as follows: "C/S... Standard NITON departure squawk... ". This clearance instructs an acft "on reaching CHEDWORTH SID turn right direct to NITON, climb FL185, squawk... for handover to Swanwick (Mil). When airborne contact Brize Approach unless otherwise instructed". When requesting taxy instructions, pilots should provide ATC with the flight level they can achieve before entering CAS en track NITON. When requesting taxy instructions, pilots should provide ATC of the flight level they can achieve on reaching SHAWBURY, FL200 is the minimun required level and FL280 the maximum level. This clearance instructs an acft to "depart MAL SID to join CAS 5nm north of MALBY level FL80 squawk... Contacting London Control frequency when instructed. Rwy 26 is the preferred rwy, unless the tailwind component exceeds 5kt, or unless the pilot requests otherwise. DEPARTURES 2. All acft using the CHEDWORTH SID are to use Noise Abatement techniques for acft type until: a. Above 3000 QFE, or b. Past CHEDWORTH (BZN 285R/12d). VISUAL CIRCUITS 3. Pilots are to plan visual circuits to avoid WITNEY (BZN 055R/3 5d) and, when possible, other local villages. The visual circuit height is 1 QFE. 4. Rwy 26 (RHC). Acft joining the visual circuit are to climb ahead to 1000 QFE before turningdownwind. ATC permission is required if downwind leg is extended to the North and East to 'Go round WITNEY'. NIGHT RESTRICTIONS 5. Acft landing local should use minimum reverse thrust whenever possible. NOISE CONCERNS 6.
