When Search and Secondary Radar not opr the CTR/CTA becomes procedural. TEAR-DROP PROCEDURE 2. Acft electing to carry out a TACAN or NDB procedure to go directly outbound immediately after takeoff (or after an approach) may request a 'tear-drop' procedure. 3. Climb straight ahead to 1 QFE tracking the rwy centreline (Alpha SID) then, when cleared: a. Rwy 06. Climbing left to direct to TACAN or NDB for start of procedure without entering the hold. b. Rwy 18. Climbing right to direct to TACAN for start of procedure without entering the hold. c. Rwy 24. Climbing right to direct to TACAN or NDB for start of procedure without entering the hold. d. Rwy 36. Climbing right to direct to TACAN for start of procedure without entering the hold. VISUAL CIRCUIT 4. Acft are not to climb above 1000 QFE in the visual circuit without obtaining prior clearance from TOWER. 5. Acft in the visual circuit are to give way to acft executing a Circling Approach. 6. Rwy 36. Steeply rising ground may cause turbulence and down-draughts in the later stages of the approach. 7. To avoid surface damage pilots are not to make sharp or high speed turns on the blacktop surfaces of the runway. Acft in the weight categories medium or heavy are prohibited from making 180 turns on the blacktop surfaces of any rwy; however, 180 turns are permissible on the concrete thresholds of Rwys 06/24. Normally, medium or heavy acft should use the whole length of the rwy before turning off; however, if acft have slowed to a walking pace, an intermediate turn off may be used. Note: Rwy 18/36 is grooved and more susceptible to damage. CIRCLING PROCEDURE - MISSED APPROACH 8. If, at Circling Minima, appropriate visual references are not observed, execute the Missed Approach for the initial approach runway. 9. If the circling part of the procedure has been initiated, any resulting Missed Approach is to be carried out for the runway to which the circle manoeuvre is planned. OVERSHOOTS WITH RUNWAY OCCUPIED 10. When notified that the rwy is occupied, aircraft with a clearance to overshoot are to do so not below 100 and, if possible, to the deadside of the rwy. RADAR CIRCUITS 11. Standard: QFE. Short pattern: 1QFE. Rwy 18 Desc to 1200 QFE in base leg. Rwy 06 RHC. SIREN SID - COMMS FAILURE 12. Acft which experience total RT failure and have not received onward ATC clerance from or LONDON CONTROL and require recovery to Lyneham, Squawk 3A 7600 and maintain the initial cleared level to the SIREN hold. On reaching the SIREN hold complete one full hold before returning to the LA/LYE descending to FL60. Complete one hold at FL60 and then carry out an instrument approach to the last known rwy in use. If Rwy 24 is in use, acft should carry out an ILS and monitor the ILS Emergency Speech Fac. Acft will be cleared to land on receipt of a green Very or aldis signal from ATC. NOISE ABATEMENT 13.
