Short Field Approach And Landing On Base Approx. 700 AGL GUMPS 13 MP, 91 KIAS Abeam Intended Touchdown Point Power to 14 Gear down Descend at 100 KIAS Entering Downwind Established at TPA 16 MP, 110 KIAS Prior to Entering the Traffic Pattern ATIS Landing Check Complete On Final Full flaps 78 KIAS Confirm gear down After touchdown Retract flaps Yoke aft to put weight on mains Soft Field Approach And Landing On Base Approx. 700 AGL GUMPS 13 MP, 91 KIAS Abeam Intended Touchdown Point Power to 14 Gear down Descend at 100 KIAS Entering Downwind Established at TPA 16 MP, 110 KIAS Prior to Entering the Traffic Pattern ATIS Landing Check Complete On Final Flaps 15 - full KIAS Confirm gear down After touchdown Leave flaps extended to maximize lift Minimize brake use Yoke aft to keep airplane light on wheels
Slow Flight Power 12 Gear down under 130 kts Flaps down under 108 kts Speed 70 kts (stall horn on): Approx 16 to maintain altitude Full power (increase mixture first) Reduce flaps to Takeoff Gear up Flaps up Resume cruise flight Maintain: Altitude w/in 100, HDG w/in 10 Rudder coordination is key Power Off Stall (approach to landing stall) Power 12 Gear down under 130 kts Flaps down under 108 kts Establish descent at 78 kts Reduce angle of attack Full power (mixture rich first) Pitch for climb, minimize altitude loss Reduce flaps to Takeoff Minimize altitude loss Gear up at positive rate Establish a climb Flaps fully up Resume cruise flight Flare : Until stall Rudder coordination is key
Power On Stall (departure stall) Power to 21 or max power while pitching up Set pitch to attitude which will result in constant deceleration (approx 20 degrees) Reduce angle of attack just enough to stop buffeting Minimize altitude loss and transition into a climb Confirm Gear up, flaps up Maneuver is complete once climb is established Power 12 Slow to 90 kts Approaching stall: As speed dissipates, add more right rudder Recover at either the first indication, or the aerodynamic buffet Steep Turns Power 18 or 21 Speed at or below Va Bank 45 (pvt) or 50 (comm) Add 1 MP Perform task in the opposite direction Reduce power to entry power setting Exit heading w/in 10 degrees of entry
Vmc Demo Slowly increase pitch to decelerate Max 5 degrees bank into good engine Wait for either loss of directional control or stall warning Power 12 Mixtures rich Props full forward Left throttle idle, right throttle full Reduce angle of attack and reduce good throttle Once airspeed is above red line, full throttle on good engine Recover to blue line, or level flight, one one engine Emergency Descent Power idle Props full forward Gear down under 130 kts Begin level off by retracting gear Add power to cruise, adjust props and mixture Descend at 125 kts Avoid negative Gs as descent is initiated Consider using a bank to initiate descent
Accelerated Stall Power 10 Speed 85 kts Power 15 Trim for and establish stabilized flight at 85 kts Reduce AOA while returning to wings level with coordinated flight control inputs and increasing power 45 degree bank Maintain altitude while briskly increasing G-load (pull back on yoke) until stall buffet occurs
