2 Monthly Electrical Energy Overview November 217 Monthly gross domestic demand fell by 1.1% compared to November 216, due to below-normal temperatures. The monthly trade balance was in favour of imports. Total demand corrected for climate contingencies remained stable. Demand by heavy industry continued its road to recovery. Monthly nuclear generation fell by 2.6% compared to November 216. Hydro-generation was also down again, compared to 216, by 6.8%. Wind power generation was stable compared to November 216, while solar power generation increased by 21.8% compared to 216. The regional monthly load factor for wind power varies between 17.4 and 37% depending on the region. The load factor for mainland France amounts to 24.7%. Market prices were up in Europe. They are high in France due to the low availability of nuclear and the increase in usage. The monthly trade balance for France was negative in November new installations were commissioned over the course of November. Monthly Overview - November 217 2

3 Monthly Electrical Energy Overview November 217 DEMAND The average temperature in November 217 was lower than the normal average monthly by.8 C and down by.5 C compared to November 216. Gross demand, which amounted to 44,789 was down compared to 216 by 1.1%. The recovery in demand by heavy industry continues and total demand adjusted for climate contingencies is stable. GENERATION Monthly nuclear generation fell by 2.6% compared to November 216. Monthly hydraulic generation was also down by 6.8% compared to 216 as in the previous months. Conventional thermal generation increased by 6%. WIND AND SOLAR Monthly wind generation for November 217 increased by -.3% compared to November 216, amounting to 2,316. Monthly photovoltaic generation increased sharply by 21.8% compared to 216 and totalled 449. TERRITORIES AND REGIONS The load factor for wind power in November was higher than 3% in the Provence-Alpes Côte d Azur, Occitanie and Auvergne Rhône-Alpes Regions. Whereas the load factor for wind power across mainland France varied between 1.7 and 78%inNovember,theminimumregionalloadfactorforwindpowerwasbetweenand1.1%andthemaximumregional loadfactorforwindpowerwasbetween 68and92%. ELECTRICITY MARKETS French prices increased, amounting to an average of 63.4/MWh over the month of November. This price increase was due to below-normal temperatures for the season, which led to a rise in usage, as well as to still-limited nuclear availability. INTERNATIONAL TRADE The monthly trade balance shifted in favour of imports in November 217, in a trend unseen since January 217. It amounted to 826. The exporting balance to Switzerland and Italy decreased compared to October, but remained in favour of exports and increased compared to November 216. The exporting balance to Great Britain and Spain moved in favour of imports, in a trend unseen since January 217. Lastly, the trade balance to the CWE zone was up compared to November 216, as well as compared to the month of October 217 and reached a record high of 2,74 in imports. NEW INSTALLATIONS The installations commissioned in November mainly aimed to secure power supply of the Brittany region ( Brittany safety net ), of Arles area and the Forez plain. These installations also aimed to enhance electricity quality in the valley of Romanche. Monthly Overview - November 217 3

7 Aperçu Monthly mensuel electrical sur l'énergie energy électrique overview Septembre November Distribution of regional generation Distribution of regional consumption Regional load factor for wind power in November 217 The monthly average load factor for wind power amounted to 24.7% in November 217. The average factor varied depending on region. For instance, the load factor for wind power in November was 3% higher in the Provence-Alpes Côte d Azur, Occitanie and Auvergne Rhône-Alpes Regions. In those regions, there is a sometimes sizeable gap compared to the monthly average load factor across mainland France. The regions where the average load factor for wind power was lowest were Nouvelle- Aquitaine (17.4%), Brittany (19.7%) and Pays delaloire(21%). In those regions too, to a lesser extent, a gap can be seen with respect to the load factor for wind power across mainland France Monthly Overview - November
