2 Monthly Electrical Energy Overview October 217 Monthly gross domestic demand fell by 5.2% compared to October 216, due to above-normal temperatures. The monthly trade balance was in favour of exports. Total demand corrected for climate contingencies remained stable. Demand by heavy industry continued its upward trend. Monthly nuclear generation fell by 3.3% compared to October 216. The rainfall deficit resulted in a reduction of almost 11% in hydropower production compared to October 216. Wind power production rose 46.7% compared to October 216. Photovoltaic production fell by 2.2% compared to October 216. The solar load factor fell in almost all French regions compared to October 216. Market prices continued to increase, in particular in Belgium and in France where nuclear availability was strongly reduced. The monthly balance of trade for France was once again positive in October new installations went into service in October. Monthly Overview - October 217 2
3 Monthly Electrical Energy Overview October 217 DEMAND The average temperature in October 217 was greater than the normal average monthly by 1.2 C and up by 2.3 C compared to October 216. Accordingly, gross demand, which amounted to 36,571 was down compared to 216 (-5.2%). The recovery in demand by heavy industry continued and total demand corrected for climate contingencies remained stable. GENERATION Nuclear generation fell by 3.3% compared to October 216. Monthly hydraulic generation was also down by 1.9% compared to 216 as in the previous months. Conventional thermal generation increased by 7.7%. WIND AND SOLAR Monthly wind generation for October 217 increased by 46.7% compared to October 216 and totalled 2,68. Photovoltaic generation fell by 2.2% compared to 216. TERRITORIES AND REGIONS Despite the increase in installed solar power, only 3 regions saw their monthly solar generation increase compared to October 216. The average monthly load factor, of 13.2% for France, was down compared to October 216(14.6%). ELECTRICITY MARKETS Prices increased strongly in France, where electricity demand grew at a time when nuclear generation was historically low for an October month. Prices in neighbouring countries (Belgium, Italy, Spain, Switzerland) were also higher. Conversely, in Germany, very strong wind power generation over the month resulted in a sharp fall in the price. It became negative over 31hourlyperiodsontheweekendof28and29October,andamountedtoanaverageof- 52.1/MWhontheSunday. INTERNATIONAL TRADE ThemonthlybalanceoftradewasinfavourofexportsinOctober217at2.2TWh.Thedailyminimumbalancewasinfavour of imports on 17 days, with a maximum instantaneous value in favour of imports of 5,46 MWon 3 October. Compared to October 216, the balance of exports to Switzerland, Italy and Spain greatly increased and the balance of imports to the CWE area also especially increased. NEW INSTALLATIONS Among the 15 installations that were put into service in October are among others, facilities for connecting wind power production, facilities to secure the power supply on the network and in particular the 225kV Mur de Bretagne substation and the connection to Plaine Haute as part of the Brittany safety net project. Also of note is the tap on the 4kV substation of Romanel on the Switzerland Bois-Tollot Chamoson line, the interconnection now therefore becoming Bois Tollot Romanel. Monthly Overview - October 217 3

7 Aperçu Monthly mensuel electrical sur l'énergie energy électrique overview Septembre October Distribution of regional generation Distribution of regional consumption Regional solar production in October 217 Monthly solar production Change compared to October In October 217, three regions produced 69% of French solar power. Only 3 regions had production greater than that of October 216, with a notable increase of 29% (3 ) compared to 216 for the Provence- Alpes-Côte d'azur region. The region which produced the most was the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region(193 ). Installed solar power Increase compared to October 216 MW MW The 3 most productive regions in October 217 were those each with more than 1 GW of installed solar capacity. The regions which installed the most solar capacity between October 216 and October 217 were the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'azur (+14%, +133 MW) and Nouvelle-Aquitaine(+9%, +147 MW) regions. Monthly load factor Monthly load factor in October 216 The monthly solar load factor in October 217 was lower than that ofoctober216 for allregions except Provence-Alpes-Cote d'azur. It was between 7.8 and 16.7%, whereas it was between 11.8 and 16.1% in October 216. % % Monthly Overview - October

Strong competition in the reserves market has led to a significant fall in costs with a price for the rapid reserve of 1.k/MW/year (against 24.3 in 217) and a price for the supplementary reserve of 5.1k/MW/year (against 16.4 in 217).
