1 ch 215

2 Monthly Electrical Energy Overview ch 215 Temperatures in ch remained close to the reference temperatures leading to an increase in demand of 5%. Corrected for the climate uncertainty and continuing the 12-months trend, the fall in demand is continuing despite the recovery in demand of the large industry sector. For the third consecutive month, hydraulic production remained at a lower monthly level than in 214 whereas the demand for thermal generation was relatively higher. Benefiting from the expansion of the base with 1 MW additional installed capacity, wind turbine generation increased. France had an export balance at all times over all its borders as a whole in ch. The balance with Germany remained however largely one of imports, due to the significant wind turbine and photovoltaic generation in this country. Eight facilities went into service in ch 215 on the RTE network: an autotransformer, a transformer, two compensation facilities, three overheadunderground power lines and one underground cable, one overhead power line and two underground cables. Monthly Overview - ch 215 2

3 Monthly Electrical Energy Overview ch 215 CONSUMPTION Temperatures in ch 215 were close to the reference temperatures (-.3 C), but lower by more than 1 C compared to those of ch 214. Therefore, demand for the month was up 5%. Corrected for the climate uncertainty, overall demand confirmed its downward trend, led by the fall in demand from businesses and domestic users and SMIs/SMEs, despite the good recovery of the large industrial sector. GENERATION The nuclear sector reached a higher monthly level than that of ch 214 and accounted for 74% of the monthly energy mix. Generation of hydraulic origin, although less than that of ruary 214, however reached a high level of generation, with output greater than 89 MW on average. The other renewable energy sectors were up compared to ruary 215, thanks to good photovoltaic production and despite a fall back in wind turbine production. Thermal generation using fossil fuels produced 4, i.e. 1 more than in ch 214. However, this level is still much lower than the level usually seen in this period. From 29 to 213, average production of this sector in ch was greater than 6. WIND AND PV The wind turbine sector reached a level for the month that was up compared with ch 214, but down however when compared with the three previous months. It covered 14.8% of national demand on Sunday, 29 ch at This is the highest coverage rate of demand by the sector seen since 214. The photovoltaic industry benefited from conditions of sunlight that were less favourable than in ch 214. However, thanks to the expansion of the generation base, the monthly level of energy generated was slightly higher than that of the previous year. INTERNATIONAL EXCHANGES In ch, France's exporting balance was greater than 4,. The balance taken as a whole over all borders at all times of the month remained in favour of exports. The importing balance with Germany was higher than in the previous month, which was already the highest level seen for two years. Germany benefits from export prices that are among the lowest in Europe due to significant generation of wind and photovoltaic. The monthly balance with Spain was slightly in favour of exports. Finally, the balance with Belgium, still one of exports, rose again after two months of falls because of new non-availability in the Belgian nuclear base. NETWORK DEVELOPMENT Eight facilities went into service in ch 215. A 4 kv auto-transformer, a 4 kv shunt reactor, two 225kV underground lines, a 225 kv transformer, a 225 kv shunt capacitor bank and two 63 kv aerial-underground lines.
