1 Monthly Electrical Energy Overview 218

2 Monthly Electrical Energy Overview 218 Moderate domestic demand and a good level of hydraulic generation enabled France to reach its highest export balance since July 214. French electricity demand fell by 3.4% compared with 217. Corrected for climate factors, the decrease was 1.3%. Hydraulic generation, benefiting from high rainfall in, reached its highest monthly level since 213. Renewable generation (excluding hydraulic) was also up by 8.4%. Wind generation and solar generation increased by 7.4% and 4.8% respectively compared to 217. Electricity consumption in was impacted by several factors, including public holidays, long weekends and temperatures slightly warmer than normal. Market prices were up overall compared to the previous month in Europe. The French monthly price increased a little to 34.42/MWh. The monthly balance for French exchanges remained in favour of exports to all border countries. 8 installations went into service in 218. Monthly Overview

3 Monthly Electrical Energy Overview 218 DEMAND 218 had slightly warmer temperatures than normal (+.2 C). Corrected for climate factors, demand reached 33,274, representing a decrease of 426 compared to 217. GENERATION Generation in was 42,637. Hydraulic generation continued to grow, reaching 7,649, a new high since 213. Renewable generation excluding hydraulic was up by 8.4% to 3,583. Nuclear generation increased slightly by 1.5% compared to 217. This led to a sharp decrease in fossil fuel thermal generation of more than 65%, the lowest level since June 215. WIND AND SOLAR Wind generation was up by 7.4% compared to 217 and reached 1,611. Solar generation, up by 4.8%, reached 1,147. TERRITORIES AND REGIONS Monthly demand of heavy industry customers is down since April, 2.9% in April (compared to April 217) and 3.2% in (comparedto 217), whichcorrespondsto adecreaseof 176for themonthof. Thisdecrease can be explained by the number of holidays and long weekends in. ELECTRICITY MARKETS The French prices remained stable and moderate due to relatively limited consumption and high hydraulic generation. On the other hand, neighbouring countries are experiencing contrasting trends with high prices in Spain and negative prices in Germany and Switzerland. INTERNATIONAL TRADE In, the export balance of trade was 7,852 with 9,347 of exports and 1,495 of imports. This is a record balance since July 214. It reached a maximum value of 15.9 GW on 16. This constituted an export balance across all borders. NEW INSTALLATIONS The works commissioned in 218 aim to secure the power supply to the Châteauneuf-du-Rhône area, strengthen the power supply to the Castellet area, partially renew conductors, to connect an SNCF substation and receive electricity generation from renewable sources. Monthly demand of heavy industry customers is down since April, 2.9% in April (compared to April 217) and 3.2% in (compared to 217), which corresponds to adecrease of176 for the month of. This decrease can be explained by the number of holidays and long weekends in. Due to the configuration of public holidays and long weekends in April and, the electricity demand from large industry customers has more consumption dips in the curve.
