2 Monthly Electrical Energy Overview e 216 Moderate national demand and a good level of hydraulic generation allowed France to achieve a significant export balance. Corrected for weather effects, total demand increased, led by the demand from households, professionals and small businesses. Hydraulic generation, benefiting from the high rainfall in, attained an annual record with monthly generation of 7,188. The connection of the Pezilla-la-Rivière wind farm, generating power of 96 MWh, is to date the largest farm connected to the public electricity transmission network. The distribution of end-user demand by large industry and SMI/SMES differs from one region to another and reflects the evolution of the French industry. ket prices increased Europe-wide. French exchanges showed an export balance for the entire month and broke the annual record established last month reaching 6, installations went into service in e: 3 transformers, 1 overhead line, 2 underground lines, 2 aerial-underground lines. Monthly Overview - e 216 2

3 Monthly Electrical Energy Overview e 216 DEMAND e 216 had slightly cooler temperatures than normal (-1. C). Corrected for weather effects, total demand led by households, professionals and small businesses, is increasing. Demand by large industry continued its downward trend. GENERATION For the second month running, nuclear generation was slightly down compared with e 215. The cooler temperatures for the season led to greater use of peak-load resources, namely fossil fuel-powered thermal that increased generation two-fold compared to e 215. Hydraulic generation, benefiting from high rainfall in, reached an annual record with generation of 7,188. WIND AND SOLAR Following on from, wind power generation was down 15.7% compared to e 215. The average load factor fell in e and was below 15%. The Pezilla-la-Rivière wind farm (96MWh), newly connected, is the largest farm connected to the public electricity transmission network. Penalised by lower sunshine and despite the increase in the installed base, monthly solar generation fell by 3%. TERRITORIES AND REGIONS Among the six regions with the greatest end-user demand by large industry and small businesses, it is the tertiary sector (excluding transport and telecommunications) that is the most important sector accounting for over 25% of demand. ELECTRICITY MARKETS ket prices rose across the whole of Europe in particular because of the increase in gas and fuel prices. The most significant increase was recorded in Spain (+ 5%) where hydraulic and wind power generation fell by 31% compared to. The reduced availability of the Belgian nuclear base may also explain partially the 2% increase in prices in Belgium INTERNATIONAL EXCHANGES France remained with an export balance throughout e 216. The annual export balance record established the previous month was broken by a wide margin with 6,749 (+34%). It was especially exchanges with Spain which contributed to this performance with a 6% increase compared to e 215. Finally, symbolically, the balance of exchanges with the CWE area crossed the 2, mark for the first time for almost a year. NEW INSTALLATIONS 8 new installations went into service in e. These installations relate primarily to securing the network and strengthening its capacity to handle renewable energies. Monthly Overview - e 216 3

The Hauts-de-France region stands out with its metallurgy and steel industry sectors that are more developed than in the other regions. One sector often accounts for a large share: the tertiary sector (excluding transport and telecommunications). This sector, which has replaced certain industries as is true in the Ile-de-France, has around a 25% share in each region, with a maximum in the Ilede-France region where the share comes to 63%. 8 Monthly Overview - e

France is always represented in white, the other areas are coloured based on the difference in price compared with France (blue: lower price, red: higher price, the deeper the colour, the greater the difference). Glossary Spot price: Wholesale price of electricity, determined by the power exchanges the day before for delivery the following day, for each hour of the day. Spread : Price differential between two price areas (here between each price area and France). Price area: Geographic area inside which the electricity price is identical and where exchanges are done with no allocation of capacity. A price area may combine several countries (for example: Germany, Austria, Luxembourg) and a country may be subdivided into more than one price area (for example: Italy, Norway). Daily spot price changes Change of the spot price in France and in the coupled neighbouring regions, over a month in daily average, (NB: for Italy the price of the northern area is shown, for Nordic countries the average of the areas displayed on the map is shown).
