1 Monthly Electrical Energy Overview
2 Monthly Electrical Energy Overview The weather conditions in led to an increase in renewable generation compared to October 217. Gross demand increased by 1.1% compared to October 217. Corrected for weather effects, the electricity demand trend remained stable. Hydraulic generation increased compared to October 217 (+6.9%) as well as renewable generation excluding hydraulic (+11.2% compared to October 217). The sunshine and wind conditions resulted in an increase in solar generation (+4.3%) as well as wind generation (+17.5%) compared to October 217. The regional wind load factor reached over 29% in the south-east of France. The regional solar load factor was between 1.4% and 12.4% in almost all the French regions. The French price increased by 3.6/MWh compared to the previous month and was 65.6/MWh on average. The monthly balance for French trade remained in favour of exports to all bordering countries. 22 installations went into service in. Monthly Overview - 2
3 Monthly Electrical Energy Overview DEMAND The average temperature in October was higher than the normal average by.8 C and slightly lower than that of October 217, by.4 C. Monthly demand went back up as compared to September (+4.3 TWh) and reached 37.3 TWh (+1.1% compared to October 217). Corrected for weather effects, the electricity demand trend remained stable (+,3%). GENERATION Despite a rainfall deficit, hydraulic production increased by 6.9% compared to October 217 and reached 2.92 TWh. Nuclear generation reached 31.6 TWh (+12.7%) and renewable generation excluding hydraulic, 3.98 TWh (+11.2%). With regard to conventional thermal generation, it fell to 3.76 TWh (-29.4%). WIND AND SOLAR The amount of sunshine over France resulted in an increase in solar generation (+4.3% compared to October 217) at.75 TWh. Wind generation benefited from strong local winds from Languedoc-Roussillon to the Rhône Valley and reached 2.46 TWh (+17.5% compared to October 217). TERRITORIES AND REGIONS The strong winds in the south-east of France resulted in average wind load factors of more than 27% in the Auvergne Rhône-Alpes, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'azur and Occitanie regions. The regional wind coverage rate exceeded 12% in the Occitanie, Hauts-de-France and Grand Est regions. The average regional load factor ranged between 8.5% in Ile-de-France and 13.1% in Nouvelle-Aquitaine. The regional solar coverage rate exceeded 5% in Occitanie and Nouvelle-Aquitaine. ELECTRICITY MARKETS The market prices followed different trends in Europe. Although they were lower in Germany, where wind generation was up and where there were even negative prices over four hourly periods, they increased strongly in Belgium. Indeed, Belgium has been experiencing several price peaks, due to very low nuclear availability and only one reactor was available in the second half of the month. INTERNATIONAL TRADE The balance of trade was 4,372, down by about 1 TWh compared to September 218. It was down over all borders except Switzerland. The export balance of trade reached a maximum value of more than 12.9 GW on 21 October and a minimum value on 29 October with 3.7 GW of imports. NEW INSTALLATIONS Among the installations that were put into service, some result from renewals of conductors and a rehabilitation of lines, connections or a renewal of substations and others are part of projects for strengthening the electricity supply in different areas: Préguillac, Aurillac, the centre of the Oise department and the Basque country. The average regional coverage rate in the regions where the solar installed capacity is the largest - Nouvelle-Aquitaine, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'azur and Occitanie - was more than 3.9%. Average regional wind load factor Average regional wind coverage rate As a consequence of the strong winds in the south-east, the highest regional load factors were in Auvergne Rhône-Alpes, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'azur and Occitanie where they respectively exceeded 27%, 29% and 31%. In Occitanie, the regional wind coverage rate exceeded 12%. It exceeded 14% in those regions with the largest installed wind capacity: Hauts-de-France and Grand Est. Monthly Overview

Adjusted from climate effect. Adjusted consumption on PDN: Represents the consumption of resditential and SMEs/SMIs sector. Data adjusted from weather effect. Direct RTE customers : Industrial sites connected directly to the PTN (excluding consumption at source). Energy sector is excluded Trend in sliding year : growth between the last 12 cumulative monthly values and the previous 12 Daily peak for perimeter France excl. Corsica Generation The "Hydro-electric" category includes all types of hydro plants (impoundment, run-of-river, etc.). Consumption for pumping by pumped storage facilities is not deducted from generation. The "Nuclear" category includes all nuclear units. Consumption by auxiliary units is deducted from generation. The "Fossil-fuel thermal" category includes Coal, Oil and Gas-fired technologies. The "Other RES" category includes PV solar, Biomass, Biogas and paper/card waste. The installed capacity values are valid for the end of the month, with the exception of the "Other RES" category, which is valid for the start of the month. Queued projects: Projects which have entered the connection queue under RTE's connection procedure, i.e. projects which have signed a "queuing proposal" with RTE, following a detailed connection study or a "technical and financial proposal". Projects in preparation: Connection projects for which RTE has been asked to provide a detailed study or technical and financial proposal, currently being examined by RTE, or for which the Prices in Europe Monthly average of spot prices in the different price zones of the coupled area. France is always represented in white, the other areas are coloured based on the difference in price compared with France (blue: lower price, red: higher price, the deeper the colour, the greater the difference). Glossary Spot price: Wholesale price of electricity, determined by the power exchanges the day before for delivery the following day, for each hour of the day. Spread : Price differential between two price areas (here between each price area and France). Price area: Geographic area inside which the electricity price is identical and where exchanges are done with no allocation of capacity. A price area may combine several countries (for example: Germany, Austria, Luxembourg) and a country may be subdivided into more than one price area (for example: Italy, Norway). International exchanges Daily extrema : Extrema of the half hour mean power value of the global international commercial exchanges, observed daily. Daily spot price changes Change of the spot price in France and in the coupled neighbouring regions, over a month in daily average, (NB: for Italy the price of the northern area is shown, for Nordic countries the average of the areas displayed on the map is shown). Type of installation Name of installation (or substation) Département Nature of work Why can the data displayed in real time be different from that published in the Monthly Overview? The data published by RTE changes several times before becoming final. It is, in fact, refined according to the information that RTE receives at several moments: 1- At the time of real-time publication, the data is taken from telemetry carried out continuously by RTE. It is this data that can be viewed in éco2mix and communicated during peak demand. 2- In the following month, this data is consolidated, i.e. refined using metering data from the various electricity distribution networks. This consolidated data is published in the Monthly Overview and updated in éco2mix. 3- During the first half of the following year, it becomes final by being refined with the latest metering data from the distribution networks.
