1 July & August 217

2 Monthly Electrical Energy Overview July & August 217 Demand was stable compared to July and August 216. The average temperatures were close to those of 216:+.3 C in July and -.6 C in August. Demand remained stable with a slight increase (+.5%) in July and a slight decrease(.3%) in August. Hydraulic generation was impacted by the lack of rain with a fall of 26.5% in July compared with 216. Wind power generation was up by 67.6% and reached 1,699 TWh in July compared to 216 buoyed by good wind conditions. Generation of electricity from wind now exceeds the total energy produced over the same period in 216. The Grand-Est, Hauts-de-France, Occitanie and Centre- Val de Loire regions contribute 7% of the increase in wind power generation in July. The French price decreased in August. Overall, French exchanges remained in favour of exports in July and August. 22 new installations went into service in July and August. Monthly Overview - July & August 217 2

3 Monthly Electrical Energy Overview July & August 217 DEMAND Gross demand was stable compared to July and August 216: it increased by 18 (+.5%) in July and decreased by 13 (-.3%) in August. Corrected for climate factors, overall demand remained stable. France did not experience any heatwaves in July or August, with differences from normal seasonal values of between -4.7 C on 1/8 and +5.3 C on 29/8. The highest power peaks were in line with forecasts, with a peak in July at 57.5 and a trough in August at 3.2. GENERATION Hydraulic generation was again down compared to 216 (-26.5% in July and -9.9% in August), with astrong increase in thermal fossil fuel generation in July compared to 216 (+65,6%) and a fall in August (-3%). Nuclear generation was up (+5.4%) in August compared to 216. WIND AND SOLAR Solar generation was stable compared to 216 (+1.5% in July and -1.5% in August), despite an annual increase in the installed power of 525 MWh.Theinstalled solar energy power now exceeds 7.1. As in June wind power generation increased strongly compared to 216 (+67.6% in July, +4.6% in August). TERRITORIES AND REGIONS The wind power generation now exceeds total generation over the same period in 216. This increase in wind power generation between July 216 and July 217 is particularly high in the regions that in 216 already had the largest installed wind base. Thus, the increase in generation in the Grand-Est, Ile de France and Occitanie and Centre Val de Loire regions account for 7% of the monthly increase in wind power production between July 216 and July 217. ELECTRICITY MARKETS Market price was on a downward trend in august, notably because of the lower demand during the summer holidays. Several episodes of negative prices were also observed in Germany during the summer ( July 3, August 19 and 2), including Belgium in July and Frence in August. INTERNATIONAL EXCHANGES The balance of exchanges was in favour of exports in July and August, with, in particular, an increase in exports compared to August 216 of around 3% to Italy and 45% to Switzerland. NEW INSTALLATIONS 22 new installations went into service in July and August. In addition to the renewals of conductors and the burial of lines, these installations are for connecting customer producers, distributors and consumers and for strengthening the electricity supply of customers or areas, particularly in the central Alsace, the Upper Durance or in the north-west of La Vendée. 7 Aperçu Monthly mensuel electrical sur l'énergie energy électrique overview July Septembre & August Distribution of regional generation Distribution of regional consumption Large increase in wind power generation in July 217 Generation of electricity from wind exceeds the total energy produced over the same period in 216 Due to the favourable wind conditions in July and August, the generation of electricity from wind energy has substantially increased from July. Meant that for the first time this year, the total energy produced exceeds that over the same period in 216. Four regions account for 7% of this incease Wind power generation is up by 683 compared to July in the previous year. Among the regions that contributed the most to this increase, the Grand-Est region (+183 ), Hautsde-France (+163 ), Occitanie (+7 ) et Centre ValdeLoire(+59) Monthly Overview - July & August
