The achine s concept has been steadily refined in close cooperation with custoers to eet the highest expectations in ters of safety, productivity and aintainability. Eickhoff Continuous Miners are designed for operation in challenging ining conditions and can be easily adapted to eet specific custoers requireents. Drive Systes The Eickhoff CM2 series is the only Continuous Miner available worldwide giving custoers the choice between two high powered traction drive concepts: Hydraulic Version The CM2H type is a field-proven traction syste driven by hydraulic otors providing significant advantages in wet and uddy floor conditions. Additional benefits of this traction syste are low investent costs, high power density and easy aintainability. The hydraulic traction syste is highly valued by Eickhoff custoers ining in difficult conditions. Electric Version The CM2E type includes variable frequency drives for custoers preferring this option. 2 The Crew - The Machine - The Outcoe

3 Interchangeability of Coponents CM2H-45 CM2H-38 CM2H-37 CM2H-30 Interchangeability of Coponents Four different types of Eickhoff Continuous Miners are available for cutting face heights fro 1.4 up to 4.5. All achine types share a large nuber of coponents that allow for interchangeability and optiized stock anageent. The variations in design and structure (see cross hatched parts in figure above) ainly affect the cutter boo and the ain frae which are adapted to different cutting conditions. 3

4 Cutter Gear Boxes The cutter gear box concept is based on separate, but interconnected LH and RH units to deliver the full installed otor power to the cutting drus. The two units ensure siple and cost effective aintenance at the face. Either of the gear boxes can be changed independently should the need arise. Cutter Drus The optiu ratio between dru size and RPM ensures a slow bit tip speed, thus greatly keeping fines and dust levels down to an inevitable iniu. Conveyor and CLAs The cobination of effective CLAs (Centrifugal Loading Ars) plus a wide foot-shaft-driven chain conveyor guarantees unrestricted suping and shearing as well as short cycle ties. Traction Syste Both the hydraulically and the electrically powered Continuous Miners provide the lowest ground pressure cobined with the highest traing speeds and traction forces. 5 Hydraulic Syste Proportional suping and shearing are achieved by control loops onitoring the cutter otor currents occurring in cutting cycle. Even though the traction otors are hydraulically driven (H-type), the entire hydraulic circuit only contains a ere 600 liters of hydraulic oil. Even when traing the achine without cooling water, the Continuous Miner drives through the section for at least 20 inutes. Reote Control and Drivers Cab The light weight radio reote control is carried in front of the body using shoulder straps. The ergonoically designed buttons and levers enhance operator control of the achine for a long period without getting tired. Depending on custoers requireents for operator location according to their geological conditions, the Continuous Miners can optionally be equipped with an onboard cabin protecting the driver s seat. 6 Scrubber and Methane Syste Electrical Syste Depending on cutting height and custoers requireents, alost all available akes of scrubbers and ethane detection systes can be fitted onto the Continuous Miner. The unique electrical design concept akes a transforer unnecessary. All electrical coponents for achine operation and onitoring are placed in a single flaeproof enclosure in a high and dry position with easy access for aintenance and trouble shooting. An IPC and several icroprocessor controlled otor protection devices reduce the nuber of electrical coponents to a iniu while increasing achine availability. Coprehensive data logging and transission of relevant operational data to the surface give ine engineers the opportunity to optiize their production processes.
