Four different gear ratios are available for each odel. Electrical syste The easy-to-service control syste with ABUS LIS control unit includes otor protection functions, operating hours eter and overload protection function. Hoist otor Sturdy pole change otors with cylindrical rotors and integrated safety brakes are the power house of ABUS wire rope hoists. Easy plug-in connector The factory fitted ABUS plug and socket connections reduce installation and aintenance work to a iniu. Connections are easy to asseble and disantle. Furtherore incorrect connections are ipossible. Rope guide A resilient low-friction plastic rope guide designed as an expanding ring provides positive guidance for the rope. The rope guide also reduces wear on the rope and rope dru. It is also easy to install, reducing aintenance requireents for the unit as a whole. Botto block The elegant botto blocks are equipped with protective edging around the rope opening. Long service lives and high safety levels are outstanding features of the resilient annealed steel rollers with achined rope grooves and annealed load hooks. Safety brake The dual-disk electroagnetic brake features autoatic braking in the event of a power failure. Asbestosfree brake linings designed for approx. 1 illion braking operations ake for long aintenance intervals. Cross travel drive Two copact epicyclic reduction gears with pole-changing brake otors directly drive two wheels. Cross travel trolley Hoist trolleys are fitted with four flanged wheels with peranently lubricated roller bearings, designed for use on tracks with parallel flanges. The cross travel trolley is adjustable to suit various flange widths. These ost cost effective and frequently ordered hoists have a load range fro 1 t to 12.5 t SWL. Type S side-ounted hoist With its optiized hook height, this hoist, which can be used on crane bridges with a span of up to 35 or ore, has advantages over other types in ters of investent return. Copared with a single-girder crane using a type E onorail hoist, the building height can be reduced. Vario-Speed for type Z Vario-Speed offers four different lifting speeds for twin barrel hoists. This feature is obtained by operating the two pole change hoist otors either together or alternately. The operating ties of the hoist otors in alternating operation are controlled by special software as a function of travel, taking into consideration the axiu rope deflection allowed. Four lifting speeds are obtained by cobining parallel and alternating operation. Type DQA ultra low headroo crab unit An ultra low headroo crab unit with the rope dru axis in the direction of cross travel, articulated end carriage joints ensuring positive contact of all four wheels with the track, two direct drive cross travel otors. 6 ABUS GM wire rope hoists: special designs Accessories Signal processing unit ABUS LIS control syste the nerve centre of your ABUS wire rope hoist ABUS wire rope hoists are equipped with an intelligent LIS control syste, available in two versions LIS-SE and LIS-SV. Both versions feature an overload protection device which reliably protects the hoist against overloading. While the LIS-SV uses a strain gauge signal to easure the load, the LIS-SE calculates the current load on the hook on the basis of three-phase current and voltage easureents ade while the otor is running. Both types of control unit ay be equipped with an optional load display for visualizing the load. All LIS control units are equipped with an operation hours eter for deterining the expended portion of the service life. For precise deterination of the reaining service life, a load population recorder in accordance with FEM is available as an option. This ensures safe working periods over the entire service life of the hoist. The load population recorder is designed to allow the relevant values to be read out easily by the operator. In addition to these features, LIS control units are designed for a nuber of other functions to ensure safe, low-aintenance operation of all ABUS wire rope hoists. The cobination of actively fail-safe electric and electronic circuitry eets the highest safety requireents and is in accordance with the diversity and active fail-safe requireents of the applicable standards. The integrated otor overcurrent protection syste and the guided start-up function reliably protect the hoist otor against theral overloading. If the otor current continuously exceeds the axiu value, the overcurrent protection function shuts down the otor. The guided start-up function prevents excessive inching operation when the high hoist speed is selected. Another function with considerable benefit to the user is regenerative braking. During each braking operation fro high hoist speed, the otor is briefly operated as a generator to slow the hoist before the echanical brakes are operated, significantly extending the service life of the brake linings. 7 Accessories ABUS wire rope hoist selection table ABUliner frequency converter The ABUliner, a icroprocessorcontrolled frequency converter unit, allows infinitely variable speed control. When fitted to a cross travel drive, the raps set ensure sooth acceleration and deceleration. The rap is adapted to the load to prevent large loads fro swinging. If an ABUliner is fitted to a hoist otor, the otor can be operated at up to twice the rated axiu lifting speed, depending on the actual load (this function is optional). This feature perits significant tie savings, especially on systes with large hook paths. The acceleration rap and the braking rap can be set separately. For applications requiring extreely low lifting speeds, such as toolaking and ould production, the ABUliner can be installed in such a way as to operate only on the precision lifting speed. With this version, infinitely variable speed control is only possible if the precision lifting speed is selected. Electronic otor control systes The ABUS AZS electronic sooth starting unit, which is designed for use both with long and cross travel otors, allows sooth acceleration to the design speed. The patented ABUS SU sooth switching relay is triggered each tie the unit is switched fro high to low speed, ensuring a significant reduction in the braking torque caused by operation of the otor as a generator and iniizing load swing. The sooth starting unit and the sooth switching relay work haroniously in cobination, aking for extreely convenient operation. The patented unit controls two or ore hoists in synchronized operation with a iniu of effort, without switching off the faster-running otor in ain lifting speed. The electronic synchronization control syste can be fitted inexpensively to standard hoists driven by pole change otors. No echanical odifications or additional electronic coponents are needed. Differences in the levels of the lifting height are easily copensated by individual operation of the hoists before the syste is switched to synchronized-speed operation. Tie-consuing adjustent of the length of the individual load lifting tackles is therefore no longer necessary. With a separate control unit, the synchronization control syste can also be fitted to hoist otors controlled by ABUliners. Electric eergency lowering syste for hoist otors The eergency lowering syste ensures that the load can be lowered safely even in the event of a power supply failure. If the ains power supply is interrupted, the operator can initiate controlled lowering by pressing the lowering button on the pendant control. The lowering operation can be stopped at any point. During eergency lowering, power for the otor brake is supplied by a battery. To prevent uncontrolled lowering, one winding of the pole change otor is operated as a generator. 9 A subject you cannot afford to neglect: drive group (FEM group) selection ABUS electric wire rope hoists the technology Apart fro the type of hoist required, the load capacity, the hook path and the lifting speed, the drive or FEM group is one of the ain criteria to consider when selecting a hoist. The drive group ust be selected to ensure that the hoist is used for its intended purpose. Standard hoists are norally designed for a ean theoretical service life of 10 years, subject to operation in accordance with FEM If the drive group selected is not appropriate in view of actual service conditions, the actual service life ay be considerably shorter than 10 years. The results are excessive expenditure for aintenance, repairs and overhauls. The crane operator is under an obligation to take appropriate action to ensure that the expended portion of the service life does not exceed the theoretical service life stated in the operating instructions. When the theoretical service life has expired, the hoist ust be decoissioned. Continued operation is allowed if it has been deterined that there are no objections to continued operation and the conditions for continued operation have been defined. Norally, a full overhaul of the hoist will be required. In general, the inspector requires the hoist to be overhauled. The objective of these requireents is to ensure that each hoist is only operated within its safe working period (S.W.P.). The following table indicates the theoretical service life D in hours for FEM groups 1B, 1A, 2, 3 and 4. In addition to the ean working tie per day, t (total hours cuulated of operation of the hoist per day), the correct assessent of the load spectru is essential for selecting the appropriate drive group. A load cycle consists of one lifting and one lowering operation, i.e. two hook oveents (lifting operations with an epty hook as a result of process conditions ust also be taken into account in deterining load cycles, but also ake the load spectru deterined less severe). Working tie: average working tie per day within which the above-entioned average load cycles per hour are perfored. Lifting speed: average lifting speed (norally the axiu lifting speed) at which the load cycles are perfored. The selection of the next highest FEM group results in a doubling of the theoretical service life if the operating conditions assued reain unchanged. Electrics The control systes used for ABUS wire rope hoists feature proven technology and are of odular design, covering a very wide operating range. All otion functions are designed for twostage pole change operation. The systes are designed for ease of installation and aintenance and reliable operation, with fuseless circuitry, ducted wiring and nonscrewed terinals. Advanced CNC lathes are used to turn the rope drus in one operation, an approach that ensures perfectly sooth running of the rope drus during operation. Supporting structure, trolleys and drive systes The hoist types described on pages 6 to 9 are the result of integrating standard hoists in chassis designed for different applications and cobining the with various types of travelling gear. Copact diensions, low headroo diensions, favourable end approach diensions, practicality and quality are outstanding features of all these hoists. In the case of crab units, the supporting structure is connected to the end carriages by achined joints and bolts, allowing accurate wheel positioning to precision engineering standards. In addition, articulated end carriage joints ensure that all four wheels are always firly positioned on the tracks and that the wheel loads on the crane bridge are properly distributed in accordance with the structural design of the syste. The travelling gear includes flanged wheels with roller bearings. In cobination with individual drive systes, they for copact direct drive units requiring alost no aintenance. As regards ains operation, pole change cylindricalrotor otors with sooth start-up characteristics, additional balance weights on the otor shaft and integrated disk brakes ake for sooth acceleration and braking alost unaffected by the load on the syste.
