This ensures quick spare parts delivery and therefore high achine availabilities. All achine types share a large nuber of coponents that allow for interchangeability and optiized stock anageent. The variations in design and structure ainly affect the cutter boo and the ain frae which are adapted to different cutting conditions. 3

4 Cutter Gearboxes The cutter gearbox concept is based on separate, but interconnected LH and RH units to deliver the full installed otor power to the cutting drus. The two units ensure siple and cost effective aintenance at the face. Either of the gearboxes can be changed independently should the need arise. Cutter Drus The optiu ratio between dru size and RPM ensures a slow bit tip speed, thus greatly keeping fines and dust levels down to a iniu. Conveyor and CLAs The cobination of effective CLAs (Centrifugal Loading Ars) plus a wide foot-shaft-driven chain conveyor guarantees unrestricted suping and shearing as well as short cycle ties. Custoers have the option of either a straight or kinked conveyor subject to whichever will best suit their transport equipent and ining conditions. Traction Syste The hydraulically powered Continuous Miners have a low ground pressure and cobine high traing speeds with axiu thrust. 5 uddy floor conditions. It is highly valued by Eickhoff s custoers because of its low life cycle costs, ease of aintainability and outstanding perforance in difficult ining conditions such as steep inclines. Hydraulic Syste Proportional suping and shearing is achieved by control loops onitoring the cutter otor currents occurring during the cutting cycle. Even though the traction otors are hydraulically driven, the entire hydraulic circuit only contains a ere 600 liters of hydraulic oil. The achines have the ability to continue traing without cooling water for extended periods. Reote Control and Drivers Cab The light weight radio reote control is carried in front of the body using shoulder straps. The ergonoically designed buttons and levers enhance operator control of the achine and allow for long periods of operation without getting tired. Depending on custoers requireents and/or national legislation for operator posititoning, the Continuous Miner can optionally be equipped with an onboard cabin protecting the driver s seat. In this case the radio reote control is connected via cable to the achine avoiding the need for additional stationary control panel. 6 Scrubber, Methane Syste and PDS Electrical Syste Depending on custoers requireents, all ajor akes of dust scrubbers, ethane detection systes and proxiity detection systes can be fitted onto the Continuous Miners. Naturally such systes will coply to the relevant local safety regulations and standards. The unique electrical design concept akes a transforer unnecessary. All electrical coponents for achine operation and onitoring are placed in a single flaeproof enclosure in an elevated position, well above ud and water, with easy access for aintenance and trouble shooting. An IPC and several icroprocessor controlled otor protection devices reduce the nuber of electrical coponents to a iniu while increasing achine availability. Coprehensive data logging and transission of relevant operational data to the surface give ine engineers the opportunity to optiize their production processes. A color display is provided on the achine to show operational paraeters and achine condition, assisting service and repair personnel with quick fault finding.
