The power being transmitted gets equay distributed among three or five panets in each stage resuting in reduced induced stress which optimizes the size as we accommodates higher ratio. Foot & Fange mounting type panetary units are avaiabe with ring diameter 330mm to 1930mm in doube, tripe & quadrupe stage, depending upon ratio. Housings : Heaviy oades housing parts are made out of spheroid graphite cast iron. Fabricated housings are aso avaiabe on request. 1

4 Gears & Pinions : Sun & panet gears have spur gear teeth and are casehardened and ground to precision grade accuracy with softer core provides improved wear and fatigue resistance. Annuus gears are manufactured from high quaity aoy stee, through hardened, nitriding depends on size & torque rating. Gear teeth are designed for ong ife fatigue resistance for the stated nomina torque. Bearing arrangement : Panets and shafts are excusivey supported by ampy sized antifriction roing bearings. Seas : Input and output shafts have radia shaft seas. For specia appications we provide seas with refiabe abyrinth. Input Shaft : Avaiabe features, Soid shaft with key Soid shaft with spine. In case of dip ubrication, a parts to be ubricated are ying in the oi. In case of force ubrication, extreme ambient temperature and other specific features pease refer to us. The gear unit can be operated in any mounting position in order to guarantee adequate ubrication; the mounting position must be stated. 2

5 Direction of rotation : The Gear Units are bi-directiona refers to output shaft direction when viewing towards the shaft end face. Working temperature : The working oi temperature of the panetary gears shoud range between +5 Cto +90 C. Temperature faing outside this range coud be accepted ony if specia ubricants, gaskets are used. For further information pease contact us. Cooing : Up to the imit of therma capacity gear units are cooed by radiation and convection from the surface at the Housing/Casing. Weights & Dimensions : The stated weights are mean vaues. Iustrations and dimensions are not stricty binding. A data are subject to change without notice Operating condition : The ambient temperatures must be known so that they can be taken into consideration whie seecting the gear units for therma conditions. Where ambient temperatures are ower than -10 C, the factors affecting the oi to be used and the materias to be used for the gear unit components must be sufficienty taken into consideration. Pease refer to us. Environmenta conditions such as sat water, sat-aden air, aggressive substances, dust, and mud faing or fying stones, excessive pressure, heavy vibrations and extreme shock oads must be discosed. Deivery : Premium Panetary Gear Units are suppied without oi. The Gear housing is protected against corrosion. Preservation : Standard Preservation: up to 6 months with fu of Oi and free run every aternate days. Long term: Up to 24 months fu minera Oi or synthetic oi on PAO basis is used ( PAO = American Petroeum base oi), and free run every after days. Further notes : For shaft mounted gear units with torque reaction arm, the connection of the torque reaction arm on the foundation must permit the gear unit to move corresponding to the dispacement of the machine shaft at any time, without constraining forces acting on the gear unit. In case of foot mounted gear units with soid shaft the provided couping between gear unit and prime mover must aso be suitabe for adequate misaignment. 21 Approved Lubricants RECOMMEDED LUBRICAT Premium Gear units are suppied without oi. Before operating it is essentia to ensure that they are fied to correct oi eves as indicated by marketing on dipsticks, with ubricants recommended by Premium. Overfiing can cause overheating and eakage. Correct ubricant is most important and it shoud be noted that EP ois are recommended in a instances. Lubricants isted are suitabe for norma ambient temperatures and operating duties. A gear units are designed to operate under fu oad 0 at maximum sump oi temperature of 95 C*. Where extreme conditions, are to be met, e.g. ow temperature operation or unusua oading conditions, shoud be referred, with fu detais, to Premium for recommendations. Recommended ubricants are based on information provided by oi suppiers and responsibiity cannot be accepted for the quaity or suitabiity of oi suppied, nor to any mechanica defect resuting from unsatisfactory ubrication due to the use of sub-standard oi. 22 Product safety information Genera - The foowing information is important in ensuring safety. It must be brought to the attention of personne invoved in the seection of Premium Transmission Limited power transmission equipment. those responsibe for the design of the machinery in which is to be incorporated and those invoved in its instaation, use and maintenance. PREMIUM power transmission equipment wi operate safey provided it is seected, instaed, used and maintained propery. As with any power transmission equipment proper precautions must be taken as indicated in the foowing paragraphs, to ensure safety. Potentia Hazards - These are not necessary isted in any order of severity as the degree of danger varies in individua circumstances. It is important therefore that the ist is studied its entirety :- 1) Fire/Exposion (a) Oi mists and vapour are generated within gear units. It is therefore dangerous to use naked ights in the proximity of gearbox openings, due to the risk of fire exposion. 0 (b) In the event of fire or serious overheating (over 300 C), certain materias (rubber, pastics, etc.) may decompose and produce fumes. Care shoud be taken to avoid exposure tothe fumes, and burned or overheated pastic/rubber materias shoud be handed with rubber goves. 2) Guards Rotating shafts and couping must be guarded to eiminate the possibiity of physica contact or entangement of cothing. Guards shoud be of rigid construction and firmy secured. 3) oise High speed gearboxes and gearbox driven machinery may produce noise eves which are damaging to the hearing with proonged exposure. Ear defenders shoud be provided for personne in these circumstances. Reference shoud be made to the Department of Empoyment Code of Practice for reducing exposure of persons to noise. 4) Lifting Where provided (on arger units) ony the ifting points or eyebos must be used for ifting operations (see maintenance manua or genera arrangement drawing for ifting point positions). Faiure to use the ifting points provided may resut in persona injury and/or damage to the product or surrounding equipment. Keep cear of raised equipment. 5) Lubricants and Lubrication (a) Proonged contact with ubricants can be detrimenta to the skin. The manufactures instruction must be foowed when handing ubricants. (b) The ubrication status of the equipment must be checked before commissioning. Read and carry out a instructions on the ubricant pate and in the instaation and maintenance iterature. Heed a warning tags. Faiure to do so coud resut in mechanica damage and extreme cases risk of injury to personne. 6) Eectrica Equipment Observe hazard warnings on eectrica equipment and isoate power before working on the gearbox or associated equipment, in order to prevent the machinery being started. 7) Instaation, Maintenance and Storage (a) In the event that equipment is to be hed in storage, for a period exceeding 6 months, prior to instaation or commissioning, Premium Transmission Limited must be consuted regarding specia preservation requirements. Uness otherwise agreed, equipment must be stored in a buiding protected from extremes of temperature and humidity to prevent deterioration. The rotating components (gear and shafts) must be turned a few revoution once a month (to prevent bearings brineing). (b) Externa gearbox components may be suppied with preservative materias appied, in the form of a waxed tape or wax fim preservative. Goves shoud be worn when removing these materias. The former can be removed manuay, the atter using white spirit as a sovent. Preservatives appied to the interna parts of the gear units do not require remova prior to operation. (c) Instaation must be performed in accordance with the manufacturer s instructions and be undertaken by suitaby quaified personne. (d) Before working on a gearbox or associated equipment, ensure that the oad has been removed from the system to eiminate the possibiity of any movement of the machinery and isoate power suppy. Where necessary, provide mechanica means to ensure the machinery cannot move or rotate. Ensure remova of such devices after work is compete. (e) Ensure the proper maintenance of gearboxes in operation. Use ony the correct toos and Premium Transmission Limited approved spare parts to repair and maintenance. Consut the Maintenance Manua before dismanting or performing maintenance work. 8) Hot Surfaces and Lubricants (a) During operation, gear units may become sufficienty hot to cause skin burns, Care must be taken to avoid accidenta contact. (b) After extended running the ubricant in gear units and ubrication systems may reach temperatures sufficient to cause burns. Aow equipment to coo before servicing or performing adjustments. 9) Seection and Design (a) Where gear units provide a hodback faciity, ensure that back-up system are provided. Faiure of the hodback device woud endanger personne or resut in damage. (b) The driving and driven equipment must be correcty seected to ensure that the compete machinery instaation wi perform satisfactoriy, avoiding system critica speeds, system torsiona vibration, etc. (c) The equipment must not be operated in an environment or at speeds, power, torques or with externa oads beyond those for which it was designed. (d) As improvements in design are being made continuay the contents of this cataogue are not to be regarded as binding in detai, and drawings and capacities are subject to aterations without notice.
