I received my Bachelrs in English frm Truman State University in May I'm currently wrking n my Master's in Educatin at UMSL. After wrking thrugh varius frms f petry frm pse t mdern lyrical petry students will be asked t take part in a petry reading creating 5 riginal plished wrks f their wn as a summative assessment. The reading will take place in the classrm and be celebrated by inviting peers t jin us in ur cffee huse renditin. This unit will use writer s wrkshp, literacy strategies, graphic rganizers, and presentatin t prepare students fr the summative assessment. Students will be drawing frm their wn experience t create in a cmmunity f pets. Summary: Students will use a variety f strategies such as cncept maps, RAFT s, KWL Charts etc. t gain and shw their understanding f different frms f petry cvered in the first week and a half f this unit. Student will use the last half f the unit in a Writer s Wrkshp fashin t create their wn riginal wrks, invitatins, and g thrugh the editing prcess befre presenting at the classrm s petry slam.
