Prepared a pinky finger t test bld glucse by cleaning with antibacterial hand sanitizer n tissue paper and wiped dry. 3. Prepared a lancing device with a new lancet. 4. Used the lancing device n the prepared finger. 5. Used the bld glucse test meter and new test strip t recrd ur bld glucse level. 6. Each subject had a variatin f either placeb, sugar, r candies. 7. Right after the subject ingested the dse, repeated 2-6 t recrd bld glucse. 8. Waited 20 minutes befre repeating steps 2-6 again t recrd 20-minute pst dse bld glucse. 9. 3 Results / Data: Graphs Attachment 3 This graph displays the bld glucse levels fr all subjects. All subjects displayed a peak in their bld glucse levels at 20-minutes pst dse then reached within nrmal bld glucse levels. The subject VN had the largest sugar dse. Using MK as a baseline, initial starts ut the same hwever after 20-minute dse VN s bld glucse jumped 33 mg / dl while MK s nly rse 4 mg / dl. At 40-minutes pst dse VN s pst dse cntinued t climbed. This graph displays the cnditins fr MK and MH. The subject MK tk the placeb and the subject MH tk 10g f sugar. She had the largest peak bld glucse level at 150 mg / dl which is cnsidered pretty high fr the nrmal persn. This graph displays a decrease It is unknwn why subject MA s bld glucse decreased ver the 40-minute lab. This subject ingested sugar and candy yet their bld glucse managed t remain within nrmal levels bth 20-minutes and 40-minutes pst dse. This graph displays the initial bld glucse fr all subjects. It expressed a baseline fr all subjects that indicated all subjects bld glucse levels were within nrmal levels, mg/dl. These subjects are likely nt diabetic nr at risk f being diabetic. This graph displays the bld glucse f dse f H20 vs dse f candy. Since the dse f candy was ptentially the highest dse f sugar at 27g this shuld have displayed the highest bld glucse level after 20-minutes pst dse. Hwever this wasn t the case, subject MH displayed the highest bld glucse at 150 mg / dl with her sugar intake f 10g. This graph displays the crrelatin between bld glucse and BMI. There desn t seem t be a crrelatin between bld glucse and BMI. Generally type tw diabetes has a crrelatin with higher BMI hwever my findings shw n such crrelatin. Analysis / Discussin: It was determined that after peak ver time, bld glucse will decrease t within nrmal level if the subject is nt diabetic. Our hypthesis was validated; all f the subjects displayed a bld glucse within nrmal level after 40 minutes pst dse. The chart in Attachment 6 displays The Bld Glucse Levels Over Time fr All Subjects. Cnclusins / Further Cnsideratins: All subjects bld glucse levels vary due t the dse f sugar taken. There seems t be a crrelatin between bld glucse and dse f sugar since the mre sugar the bdy takes in, the mre insulin the pancreas has t make and distribute. This understanding allws us t further expand ur knwledge by prviding new perspective f a part f the endcrine system and hw sugars affect the human bdy. A questin this lab has prpsed is; if we were t expand ur sample size and include diabetics, hw wuld this affect ur Page 3 f 9

4 results? Sme research that culd be dne fllwing this experiment is t research; hw individuals diagnsed with diabetes, have t cmpensate fr a bdy that des nt prduce insulin. Anther area f investigatin t help further ur understanding wuld be t explre artificial insulin and hw that helps diabetics manage their bld glucse levels.
