Suctin in suctin utlets and/r suctin utlet cvers which are damaged, brken, cracked, missing, r unsecured can cause severe injury r death due t the fllwing entrapment hazards: Hair Entrapment- Hair becmes kntted r snagged in an utlet cver. Limb Entrapment- A limb sucked r inserted int an pening f a circulatin utlet with a brken r missing cver in the pl resulting in a mechanical bind r swelling Bdy Suctin Entrapment- Suctin applied t a large prtin f the bdy r limbs resulting in an entrapment. Evisceratin/ Disembwelment Entrapment- Suctin applied directly t the intestines thrugh an unprtected sump r suctin utlet with a missing r brken cver. Mechanical Entrapment- Ptential fr jewelry, swimsuit, hair decratins, finger, te r knuckle t be caught in an pening f an utlet r cver. T Reduce the risk f Entrapment Hazards: A minimum f tw functining suctin utlets per pump must be installed. Suctin utlets in the same plane (i.e. flr r wall), must be installed a minimum f three feet (3 ) [.91 meter] apart, as measured frm suctin pipe center t suctin pipe center. (See Diagram 1. If suctin utlets are t be lcated clser then three feet (3 ) [.91 meter] apart, they shall be lcated in different planes (i.e., ne n the bttm, and ne n the vertical wall, r ne n each f tw separate vertical walls.) (See Diagram 2) Dual suctin fittings shall be placed in such lcatins and distances t avid dual blckage by a user. Dual suctin fittings shall nt be lcated n seating areas r n the backrest fr such seating areas. The maximum system flw rate shall nt exceed the flw rating f any listed (per ASME/ANSI A M-1987, ASME A , APSP-7) suctin utlet cver installed. Keep suctin utlet cmpnents clear f debris, such as leaves, dirt, hair, paper and ther material. Never use a Pl r Spa if any suctin utlet cmpnent is damaged, brken, cracked, missing, r nt securely attached. Prir t each use f the swimming pl and/r spa, bserve and replace damaged, brken, cracked, missing, r nt securely attached suctin utlet cmpnents immediately. Remve pressure test plugs and/r plugs used in winterizatin f the pl/spa frm the suctin utlets. Tw r mre suctin utlets per pump shuld be installed in accrdance with latest APSP Standards and CPSC guidelines. Fllw all Natinal, State, and Lcal cdes applicable. Multiple layers f prtectin are available including installatin f a vent pipe system, a gravity flw system, r a vacuum release system. Suctin utlet cmpnents have a finite life, the cver/grate shuld be inspected frequently and replaced at least every seven years r if fund t be damaged, brken, cracked, missing, r nt securely attached. D nt exceed maximum flw rate stated n suctin fitting. Only replace a pump with ne with a similar flw curve, avid a pump with a higher hrsepwer rating.

Example: In the System shwn in Diagram 1, tw (2) Flr Only suctin utlet cvers are selected and munted. These cvers are individually rated fr 125 GPM. Fr a desired flw rate thrugh the pump f 100 GPM, a minimum pipe size frm the Chart 1 is selected at 3. At the desired flw f 100 GPM ne cver culd be partially blcked and the ther suctin utlet flw wuld be belw the rated 125 GPM f the Flr munted suctin utlet cver. Since there are tw utlets flwing in nrmal peratin, and the allwable velcity in the intercnnecting piping is nly 3ft/sec, the same pipe size is required in the intercnnecting piping. Example: In the System shwn in Diagram 2, ne (1) Flr Only suctin utlet cver, rated at 125 GPM, and ne (1) Wall r Flr suctin utlet cver, rated at 72 GPM are selected and munted. Fr a desired flw rate thrugh the pump f 50 GPM, a minimum pipe size frm the Chart 1 is selected at 2. At the desired flw f 50 GPM either cver culd be ttally blcked and the ther suctin utlet flw wuld be belw the rated 72 GPM f the wall munted suctin utlet cver. Nte: Flw may be limited by entrapping frce in dual suctin systems. NOTICE: When installing WG1030AVPAK2 refer t ASME A fr the prper instructins n hw t cnstruct the field-fabricated sump. Figure 2 is an illustratin f sme f the requirements. Suctin utlets fr a pl with a vinyl liner and fr fiberglass pls are prvided with a WG1048B munting ring and tw (2) gaskets. The gaskets shuld be placed such that they sandwich the liner r fiberglass, that is, ne gasket n each side. The ring (WG1048B) is attached t the suctin utlet by eight (8) screws that pass thrugh bth gaskets and the liner. See diagram belw. Suctin utlets fr a cncrete r gunite pls are designed t be plastered with the tp surface flush t the pl surface. An Adjustable Cllar WG1051X may be used t aid in btaining the desired cnfiguratin. Tw screws MUST be used t secure the cver t the suctin utlet. USE ONLY HAYWARD GENUINE REPLACEMENT PARTS INCLUDING THE SCREWS. Fr installatins utilizing a hydrstatic relief valve (SP1056), using a cllectr tube (SP1055) will maintain a clear path t the hydrstatic valve. At least ne hydrstatic relief valve in a set f suctin utlets will allw hydrstatic uplift pressure caused by grund water t be relieved int the pl r spa.
