2 Intrductin Thank yu fr selecting the pcket ph tester. This manual prvides a step-by-step guide t help yu perate the meter, please carefully read the fllwing instructins befre use. Keypad The tester includes 3 multifunctin keys, names and symbls describe functin key cntrls. Inserting the Batteries Befre using the tester, insert batteries int the battery cmpartment, fllw the prcedure utlined belw. Twist the electrde cllar cunter clckwise, pull the electrde mdule away frm the tester. Meas Hld Insert tw AAA batteries int the battery cmpartment, nte plarity. KEY MEAS/HOLD CAL ENTER FUNCTION Pwer the tester ON/OFF. Freezes the measured values n the display, press the key again t resume measuring. In calibratin mde, exits calibratin and returns t measurement mde. Press the key t enter calibratin mde. Press and hld the key t enter the system menu. In setup mde, press the key t select default ptins. Cnfirms the calibratin r displayed ptin. PHscan POCKET PH TESTER + Align the slt n the electrde mdule, push the mdule int the tester. Slt Display The tester is equipped with a clear LCD display used t shw measured values, mde indicatrs and unit indicatrs. Twist the electrde cllar clckwise until it is tight. Installatin is cmpleted. Prir t Use Remve the electrde prtective cap frm tester. If the electrde bulb dries ut, sak the electrde mdule in strage slutin r tap water fr at least 15 minutes. D nt use distilled r deinized water, it will shrten the life f sensr. 3 Preparatin f ph Standard Buffer Slutins The tester is packaged with three ph buffer packets required fr calibratin. System Menu The tester cntains an integrated system menu that allws yu t custmize each displayed ptin t meet persnal preference PARAMETER ph Buffer OPTIONS USA Standard (ph, 7.00, 10.01, Default) Open the ph7.00 buffer packet, place the pwder int a 250ml vlumetric flask. Pur distilled water 250ml t scale line, mix the slutin until reagent is cmpletely disslved. ibratin Pint NIST Standard (ph, 6.86, 9.18) Single pint calibratin 2 pints calibratin (Default) Preparatin f ph and standard buffer slutins are the same as abve. Prepared standard buffer slutins shuld be stred in hermetically sealed glass cntainers. Pwer On/Off Press MEAS key t turn n the tester, the display shws measured values. Temperature Unit 3 pints calibratin Degrees Celsius (Default) Degrees Fahrenheit Meas Hld Temperature ibratin Aut-Hld Functin s the calibratin mde Enables the aut-hld functin Press and hld the MEAS key fr 5 secnds, the tester will turn ff. If yu d nt press any key fr 8 minutes, the tester will autmatically turn ff t cnserve energy. Aut-Off Functin Disables the aut-hld functin (Default) Enables the aut-ff functin (Default) T disable the aut-ff functin, please read the SETUP MENU sectin. Reset Disables the aut-ff functin Restres the parameters back t default settings D nt use this functin (Default) 03 04

4 1. Press and hld the CAL key fr 3 secnds t enter system menu, the tester shws default ph buffer ptin. 2. Press CAL key again t select the available standard. Press ENTER key t cnfirm, the tester ges t temperature calibratin mde, the display shws C/CAL. Press ENTER key t cnfirm, the tester ges t calibratin pint selectin mde, the display shws 2/CAL (2 pints calibratin). If yu d nt want t perfrm temperature calibratin, press ENTER key, the tester will g t next ptin. 5. Press CAL key, the tester enters the temperature calibratin mde, the display shws current temperature reading. 3. Press CAL key t select the number f calibratin pints. 6. Press CAL key again t set temperature value, press ENTER key t cnfirm. The tester shws YES/HOLD indicating that the aut-hld functin is enabled. Press ENTER key t cnfirm, the tester ges t temperature unit selectin mde, the display shws C/UNIT. If the aut-hld functin is enabled, the tester will autmatically sense a stable end-pint reading and will freeze it. If yu disable this functin, the tester allws yu t freeze the reading by pressing the HOLD key. 4. Press CAL key t select the temperature unit ( C r F). 7. 5 PHscan POCKET PH TESTER 8. Press ENTER key t cnfirm, the tester shws YES/OFF aut-ff functin is enabled. When the aut-ff functin is enabled, if yu d nt press any keys fr 8 minutes, the tester will autmatically turn ff t cnserve energy. 9. Press CAL key t enable r disable the aut-ff functin. 10. Press ENTER key t cnfirm, the tester shws NO/RST d nt reset the tester. indicating that the indicating that ph ibratin During ph mde, the tester allws up t 3 pints calibratin. We recmmend that yu perfrm at least 2 pints calibratin fr high accuracy measurement. The tester can autmatically recgnise and calibrate t fllwing standard buffer values. USA Standard: ph, 7.00, NIST Standard: ph, 6.86, 9.18 Single pint calibratin shuld nly be carried ut with ph 7.00 r ph 6.86, therwise calibratin will nt be accepted. The tester must be calibrated prir t first use r new electrde replaced. T ensure accuracy, regular calibratin is recmmended. D nt reuse calibratin slutin after calibratin, cntaminants in slutin will affect the calibratin and eventually the accuracy f the measurement. Single Pint ibratin 1. Make sure that yu have selected 1 pint calibratin in the system menu. 2. Rinse the ph electrde with distilled water, press MEAS key t turn n the tester. 3. Press CAL key, the tester shws ph7.00/cal1 (r ph6.86/cal1 ). WARNING: Reset functin will restre the tester back t factry default parameters, all calibratin values and selected system parameters will be lst r reset. 4. Dip the ph electrde int the ph7.00 (r ph6.86) standard buffer slutin, the end f the electrde must be cmpletely immersed int the calibratin slutin. Stir the tester gently. 11. Press CAL key t enable r disable the reset functin. 5. Press ENTER key t cnfirm. W ait fr the measured value t stabilize, the display shws END. Single pint calibratin is dne. 12. Press ENTER key t cnfirm, the tester returns t measurement mde. System settings is cmpleted

6 2 Pints ibratin Make sure that yu have selected 2 pints calibratin in the system menu. Repeat steps 2 t 5 abve. When the first calibratin pint is cmpleted, the display will shw CAL2. The tester prmpts yu t cntinue with secnd pint calibratin. Rinse the electrde with distilled water, dip the electrde int the ph10.01 (r ph9.18) standard buffer slutin. Press ENTER key t cnfirm. W ait fr the measured value t stabilize, the display shws electrde slpe and END. The tester returns t the ph measurement mde. ibratin is cmpleted. Rinse the electrde with distilled water, dip the electrde int the ph r (ph r 9.18) standard buffer slutin. Press ENTER key t cnfirm. W ait fr the measured value t stabilize, the display shws electrde slpe and END. Secnd pint calibratin is dne. 3 Pints ibratin Make sure that yu have selected 3 pints calibratin in the system menu. Repeat steps 2 t 5 abve. When the first calibratin pint is cmpleted, the display will shw ph/cal2. The tester prmpts yu t cntinue with secnd pint calibratin. EXIT THE CALIBRATION: During the calibratin, if yu want t exit calibratin mde, press MEAS key. The tester will immediately return t measurement mde. Temperature ibratin During the measurement, if the temperature reading displayed differs frm that f an accurate thermmeter, yu need t calibrate the tester. 1. Press and hld the CAL key t enter system menu. 2. Press ENTER key until display shws the C/CAL r F/CAL. 3. Press CAL key t enter the temperature calibratin mde. 4. Press CAL key again t set temperature value (Displayed value ±0.5 C). Rinse the electrde with distilled water, dip the electrde int the ph standard buffer slutin. Press ENTER key t cnfirm. W ait fr the measured value t stabilize, the display shws electrde slpe and ph10.01/cal3 (r ph9.18/cal3 ). 5. Press ENTER key t cnfirm, the display shws next ptin. 6. Press MEAS key, the tester returns t measurement mde. ibratin is cmpleted

7 ph Measurement 1. Rinse the electrde thrughly with distilled water, press MEAS key t turn n the tester. 2. Dip the electrde int the sample slutin, stir the tester gently. 3. W ait fr the reading t stabilize, recrd the measured value n the display. Aut-Hld Functin When the aut-hld functin is enabled, the tester will autmatically sense a stable end-pint measured value and freeze it, HOLD indicatr will appear n the display. Press HOLD key, the tester resumes measuring. 2. Align the slt n the new electrde mdule, gently push the mdule int the tester. Slt 3. Twist the electrde cllar clckwise until it is tight. Installatin is cmpleted. Meas Hld Manual Hld Functin 1. During the measurement, press HOLD key, the tester immediately freezes currently displayed value, HOLD indicatr will appear n the display. 2. Press key again t release the measured reading, yu can cntinue t take measurement. Electrde Care and Maintenance Fr best results, please always keep the sensr s glass bulb wet. Ensure that the sensr is thrughly washed with distilled water after each use. If yu d nt use the tester fr lng perids, please stre the sensr with electrde strage slutin. DO NOT use de-inized r distilled water. Electrde Replacement When the tester fails t calibrate r gives fluctuating readings fr calibratin standards, yu need t replace the electrde mdule. 1. Twist the electrde cllar cunter clckwise, pull the ld electrde mdule away frm the tester. Trubleshting LCD DISPLAY CAUSE Optinal Electrde Mdules Electrde dried ut. Sak the electrde mdule in tap water fr 10 minutes. Measured value is ut f range. Check the electrde whether clgged, dirty r brken. Incrrect buffer used r cntaminated buffer slutin. Use fresh ph buffer slutins fr calibratin. Electrde is brken. Replace the electrde mdule. Keypad is nt wrking prperly. Replace the batteries. Disslve grams f ptassium chlride reagent (KCL) in 1 liter distilled water. 2. Pur the 50mL f KCL slutin int beaker. 3. Pur the 50mL f ph standard buffer slutin int the same beaker. 4. Stir the slutin until the slutin has thrughly mixed, preparatin is dne.
