SERVICE CALLS & QUESTIONS Lcatin and phne numbers f qualified Service Centers can be fund at ur website r call t lcate a Service Center. WARNING: It is imprtant that this installatin manual is read and understd befre installatin. The unit must be installed by a qualified service technician. Failure t prperly install the unit r attempting t mdify it in any way can be extremely hazardus and may result in prperty damage and persnal injury and will vid the warranty. BEFORE INSTALLATION Ensure that the installatin instructins have been prperly read and understd. Installatin must cnfrm t Lcal wiring cdes and regulatins r, in the absence f lcal cdes, the Standard n Recreatinal Vehicles, NFPA and Natinal Electrical Cde NFPA 70. DO NOT attempt t mdify r add cmpnents t the installatin prcedure. This equipment must nly be serviced by a licensed refrigeratin mechanic t maintain warranty cverage. If yur installatin varies frm the methd utlined please cntact Atwd Mbile Prducts, LLC fr specialty advice. Atwd will nt be held respnsible fr prblems relating t incrrect r imprper installatin methds. GENERAL INFORMATION I. PURPOSE This Atwd Air Cmmand air cnditining unit is designed fr installatin n the rf f a recreatinal vehicle t prvide cling with AC-1351 mdels and cling/heating with AC-1501 mdels. -The rf must be capable f supprting the weight f the unit which is 86lbs (39Kg). -The abslute minimum thickness f the rf must nt be less than 1 inch (25mm). -Rf thicknesses between inches ( mm) require extra-lng hld dwn blts Atwd PN Trimming f the ductwrk and/r blts may be necessary depending n the rf thickness It is imprtant that the unit is installed prperly and accrding t the recmmended guidelines. II. ENSURING EFFECTIVE OPERATION The effectiveness f the air cnditiner is dependent n several factrs e.g. size and heat lad f the vehicle. When an Atwd unit is installed Atwd assumes that the vehicle is well insulated with 1 inch (25mm) fam minimum in all walls and rf, that the windws are f mderate size (preferably duble glazed) and the rf vents are airtight when clsed. Other methds f reducing heat lad include: -Clsing all drs, hatches, windws and blinds -Psitin the vehicle s if prch is used, it will face the sun and prtect the windws frm direct radiatin. -Turning ff appliances that might increase the heat lad -Ensuring the vehicle is parked in a shaded psitin. In perids f extreme high temperature it is recmmended t start the air cnditiner earlier in the mrning t greatly imprve its ability t cpe with the expected high heat lad. III. CONDENSATION In areas f high humidity, the humid air within the RV will cause sweating r cndensatin in parts f the unit as the humid warm air cntacts the clder air discharge system. If this ccurs please ensure the fllwing: -Clsing all drs, hatches, windws and blinds t limit the ingress f warm humid air - Avid running the inside fan n LOW r AUTO in such cnditins. Running the fan n HI fan speed will result in higher airflw and reduce the tendency t have cndensatin frm. AC IOM 12/03/2014 rev 8 1

ASSESS ROOF STRENGTH - The rf members MUST be strng enugh t supprt the weight f the unit 99 lbs (45kg) withut any rf deflectin that will cause pling f water arund the unit. Cntact yur RV manufacturer t cnfirm the max lad the rf is able t handle. If in any dubt cnsider the use f an external H frame. - If the rf des nt have an existing hle ne must be cut. Cut frm the rf then use the rf hle as a guide t cut thrugh the ceiling. Cntact yur RV manufacturer fr the best methd t cut thrugh the rf. - The square hle in the rf (14 x 14 ) MUST be bxed up with minimum 3/4 inch square timber t prvide a structure strng enugh t withstand the cmpressin f the installatin blts. This is als t ensure that air in nt drawn frm the rf cavity (Fig 3 & 4). Remember t leave access fr wiring. - Lngitudinals MUST be fixed securely t the transverse rf members t transfer lad (see Fig 3). WARNING There may be electrical wiring lcated between the rf and ceiling. Ensure that pwer is prperly discnnected at the supply (mains and/r battery). Failure t d s may result in persnal injury r death TIP: Always use crawl bards acrss the rf t avid damage CAUTION The unit weights apprximately 86lbs (39kg). Ensure a tw persn lift r use a mechanical hist t avid the risk f injury. AC IOM 12/03/2014 rev 8 3
