1 INSTALLATION, OPERATION & MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS FOR ABTECH PCS Cntrl Statin Purpse f Instructins Wrking in hazardus areas, the safety f persnnel and plant depends n cmplying with all relevant safety regulatins. Installatin and maintenance persnnel wrking n installed prduct have a particular respnsibility t ensure any applicable standards and regulatins are cmplied with. These instructins give a brief summary f the mst imprtant safety measures. It shuld be read in cnjunctin with the prduct certificate and any applicable natinal and lcal regulatins. Safety Instructins The PCS cntrl statin shuld be used nly fr its intended purpse. PCS cntrl statins are nt suitable fr Zne 0 hazardus areas! N alteratins t the apparatus is permitted. The PCS cntrl statin shuld nt be used if damaged Any damage may invalidate the Ex prtectin. Observe the fllwing during installatin and peratin: Any relevant Natinal safety regulatins; Lcal safety regulatins: Internatinal installatin regulatins(e.g. IEC ); The fllwing installatin instructins cntained in this manual Any values r instructin printed n the apparatus label. The permissible Ex cmpnents can be used as fllwing: CZ0201 Series Explsin-prf switch mdule. This mdule can be used in the PCS cntrl statin when installed in a circuit where rated wrking vltage is AC250V (+28%) r belw t cntrl electrmagnetic starter, cntactr, relay and ther electric circuits. CZ0202 Series Explsin-prf signal lamp. Lamp mdules can be used in the PCS cntrl statin where wrking vltage is AC24-240V r DC24-36V. The crrect mdule shuld be chsen fr the applicable wrking vltage. CZ0205 Series Explsin-prf ammeter mdule. The ammeter mdule can be used t measure r display the current in an ac circuit. Any natinal r lcal safety and/r installatin regulatins and gd engineering practice must be bserved when munting and perating this equipment. The user shall bserve the fllwing cnditins in rder t ensure the safe peratin f the PCS cntrl statin. The Abtech PCS cntrl statin is suitable fr use in hazardus areas, zne 1, 2 and 21, 22. The Abtech PCS cntrl statin shuld be used under the fllwing atmspheric/ambient cnditins: The pressure is 80kPa(0.8bar)-110kPa(1.1bar) The vlume rati f standard xygen cntent is 21% air; The Ambient relative humidity is less than: 95%; The PCS cntrl statin is designed fr use subjected t nrmal industrial levels f vibratin. It shuld nt be munted such that it is expsed t excessive levels f vibratin r shck. Cnductrs must be cnnected with due care, e.g. multi stranded cnductrs shuld be fitted with a ferrule Insulatin must be stripped back n mre than 1mm frm thrat f terminal; Damaged cnductrs r cnductrs with damaged insulatin shuld nt be used; All screws, used and unused, n the cnnectin terminals, must be fully tightened. This shuld be checked prir t cmmissining; The earth cnductr shuld be at least the same crss sectinal area as the live cnductrs; It is the users respnsibility t ensure the IP rating f the apparatus is maintained; Cautin: de-energize befre pening! Cable gland & stpping plug Only certified cable glands and stpping plugs shuld be used with this apparatus. If a cable gland r stpping plug with degree f prtectin lwer than IP66 is used, the IP rating f the apparatus will be reduced t that f the entry device. (Cable gland r stpping plug must have minimum IP rating: IP54) The installatin, peratin and maintenance instructins applicable t the cable gland r stpping plug must be adhered t. Ensure that the cable gland, apprpriate fr the cable diameter and type is used. Unused peratr hles and cable entry hles must be clsed with a certified blanking plug apprpriate fr the hle diameter in rder t ensure the required minimum prtectin categry. IMPORTANT: Cable glands and stpping plugs shuld be tightened accrding t the manufacturers instructins. Care shuld be taken nt t ver tighten f cable glands r blanking plugs as this may impair the ingress prtectin prperties f the device. Cmpnent Installatin Cntact Blck/Lamp Mdule The required cntact blck/lamp mdule (item 1) shuld be snapped nt the plastic rail mulded int the bdy (item 2) ensuring that it clicks int ne f the spacing slts. Plastic Mulded Earth Terminal Plastic earth terminal (item 3) can be fitted t either the tp r bttm f the enclsure (item 2) Metal Earth Plate Where metallic cable glands r stpping plugs are used they shuld be fitted t the metal earth plate (item 4) The metal earth plate is threaded t suit the apprpriate cable gland r stpping plug. Cmbining Enclsures It is permissible t jin tw enclsures tgether using the cnnecting blt (item 5) and lcknut (item 6). Crrespnding 25mm diameter hles shuld be drilled in the adjining faces f the enclsures t be cnnected and the seal (item 7) clamped between the tw enclsures. 4/5

5 Installatin f Operatr/Lamp Bezel The peratr/lamp bezel (item 8) shuld be fitted t the cver, ensuring that the tab n the peratr is aligned with the keyway in the cver hle. The lcknut (item 10) shuld be fitted t the rear f the peratr and tightened using the apprpriate scket spanner (item 9) t the recmmended trque f 5Nm. Ensure that the actuating pins f the peratr align with the plungers in the cntact blck r the lamp bezel aligns with the lamp mdule. Operatr Label The labels (item 11) fitted t the peratr heads may be changed by placing screwdriver r ther implement behind label and levering ff. New label is push int slts. Tag Labels Tag labels may be fitted t the tp f the enclsure as shwn. IP Cver Key perated pushbuttns may be supplied with an IP cver which shuld be replaced when the key is nt being used in rder t maintain the IP rating f the enclsure. Cmpnents and Spare Parts Only, peratrs, bezels, cntact blcks and lamp mdules supplied by Abtech shuld be fitted t the PCS cntrl statins. Similarly, nly spare parts supplied by Abtech shuld be used. Maintenance The cnditins f certificatin and any special cnditins fr safe use, nted in the certificate shuld be strictly adhered t, alng with the instructins laid dwn in this manual. The apparatus must be de-energised prir t remving the cver r replacing any parts. This wrk must be carried ut by a cmpetent persn. The fllwing shuld be checked during maintenance: Check fr cmpliance f the apparatus with respect t ambient temperatures. Check fr any damage t seals and gaskets. Check fr any damage t cntact blck/lamp mdule and peratr head/lamp bezel. Check cntact blck/lamp mdule is securely psitined in enclsure Check cntact blck/lamp mdule terminals fr tightness Check cnditin f cnductrs and wiring insulatin Check earth cnnectin Check cable glands/stpping plugs as per manufacturers recmmendatins. Clean exterir f enclsure with a damp clth t remve any build up f dust. Dispsal/Recycling Any lcal r natinal regulatins regarding the dispsal f this equipment shuld be adhered t.
