If using a ladder during assembly, use extreme cautin. Fllw all warnings and cautins n the ladder carefully. Installatin and assembly f this prduct will require lifting and bending that may result in injury t anyne nt accustmed t this type f activity. Ensure there are n verhead pwer lines within a 20 ft. (7 m) radius f the gal lcatin. Climate, crrsin r misuse culd result in system failure. Only use parts prvided with yur Galsetter basketball gal system r replacement parts prvided by Galsetter Systems, Inc. Use f ther parts (a) may cause the gal system t fail, (b) culd result in death, serius injury r prperty damage, and (c) will vid the warranty. With rim set at 6-0 playing height, the minimum peratinal height is 5-4 (1.625 m) t the bttm f the backbard. DO NOT CLIMB OR HANG n the rim r any part f the gal system. This includes the backbard, supprt braces and net. The prduct is nt designed fr such use and prperty damage r persnal injuries such as cuts, brken bnes, nerve, spinal crd r brain injury r death culd ccur. Use cautin when perfrming dunking activities with this prduct. During play keep players faces away frm the backbard, rim and net r serius injury culd result. Players must wear a muth guard t avid dental injuries. D nt wear jewelry (rings, watches, necklaces, etc.) r ther lse bjects that culd becme tangled in the net r injure anther player. Befre each use, check the gal system fr lse hardware, excessive wear and signs f crrsin. Repair the system befre use. NEVER play n damaged equipment. When adjusting the system height, keep hands and fingers away frm mving parts. DO NOT allw children t adjust the system height. Check the gal system frequently fr signs f crrsin. Remve surface rust and lse paint cmpletely, and repaint with exterir enamel paint. If rust r crrsin has penetrated r pitted any cmpnents f the gal, DO NOT allw play and repair r replace parts immediately. DO NOT use the gal system t lift r hist anything. Playing Surface Determine Installatin Lcatin Cnsider the fllwing t determine where t install yur Galsetter Basketball Gal: The type and strength f structure t which the gal will be attached. When extended, will backbard verhang bstruct driveway r ther imprtant space? Maximum verhang: 69 (1.75 m) frm the munting surface t the frnt f the rim. Is there rm s vehicles backing ut f driveway d nt strike backbard r rim? Will curt markings be used? Hw much playing surface is needed? Hw much playing surface will be under the backbard? (Having the edge f the playing surface directly underneath the 50'-0" Optimum Inside Sidelines backbard can result in trip hazards and unpredictable ball actin fllwing a sht. Try t have as much playing surface as pssible behind the backbard.) Other functins f playing surface (driveway, playgrund, etc.) Will the gal be at least 20 ft. (7 m) frm any verhead pwer lines? 4 Frame Attachment Bttm f frame shuld be 88 up frm playing surface. This is needed t achieve full range f gal height adjustability. Wall hanging lcatin is the respnsibility f the custmer and/r installer. It is the respnsibility f the custmer and/r installer t determine hw many f the frame s 12 munting hles must be used t safely secure the wall munt gal fr play. (40-45 kg) each are recmmended fr safe installatin and assembly. Step 1: Determine where t place frame n munting surface. The frame is 28 high x 21 wide. The frame hles are 16 n center. TIME OUT TIP: Use a level t make drawing the hrizntal line easier. Step 2: Draw a hrizntal line at least 21 (533 mm) n the munting surface that is 88 (2.235 m) up frm the playing surface. Step 3: Unpack the frame. Lay aside extensin arms, jack munting brackets and jack. Safety Stp Step 4: Psitin and center frame bttm n the hrizntal line with the frame s safety stps at the tp. Step 1: Unpack extensin arms and jack munting brackets. Step 2: Making sure decal is right side up, align lwer extensin arm hles t utside hles f the frame flange. Then align hles in lwer jack munting bracket t inside hles f the frame flange. Cnnect using the fllwing: tw extensin arm blts, fur flat washers and tw lcknuts. NOTE: DO NOT ver-tighten. Snug tighten nly. Step 3: Making sure decal is right side up, attach the upper extensin arms and upper jack munting brackets t the frame flange fllwing the same prcedure and hardware as in Step 2. Step 4: Attach upper munt f jack assembly t jack munt clevis n upper extensin arm using the fllwing: ne upper jack pivt blt, tw flat washers, and lcknut. NOTE: DO NOT ver-tighten. Snug tighten nly. Step 5: Attach lwer munt f jack assembly t the upper and lwer jack munting brackets using the fllwing: ne lwer jack pivt blt, tw flat washers, and lcknut. NOTE: DO NOT ver-tighten. Snug tighten nly. Step 6: Tighten all extensin arm blts t extensin arms and munting brackets. Tighten jack pivt blts, but make sure free mvement is maintained at the pivt pints. Step 7: Tighten all extensin arm blts t extensin arms and munting brackets. Tighten upper and lwer jack pivt blts, but make sure free mvement is maintained at the pivt pints. Step 8: Remve prtective material frm extensin arms. Step / 8 (32.70 cm) Step 3: Making sure decal is right side up, attach the upper extensin arms and upper jack munting brackets t the frame flange fllwing the same prcedure and hardware as in Step 2. Munting Pivt Blt Jack Munt Clevis Step 4: Set stabilizer bar length t 21 7 / 8 (32.70 cm) by turning the bar t lengthen r shrten. NOTE: After the gal is raised, further adjustment may be necessary t achieve a 10 r desired height. 7 Backbard Attachment WARNING Backbards can weigh between 168 lbs. t 266 lbs. Tw r three peple in gd physical cnditin and capable f lifting at least lbs. (40-45 kg) each are recmmended fr safe installatin and assembly. Extensin arms MUST be in the lwered psitin. TIME OUT TIP: Lay the unpened bx with Galsetter lg upside dwn AND let the lid pen up and fld away frm the gal munting surface. Step 2: Carefully lift the backbard frm the bx and align upper backbard hles with upper extensin arm hles using the fllwing sftware: tw backbard blts, fur flat washers, and tw lcknuts. NOTE: This is a pivt pint! DO NOT ver-tighten. Snug tighten, s that bushings in arms meet bushings in backbard. TIME OUT TIP: Extensin arms attach t the utside f backbard s H-frame. Step 3: Align lwer backbard hles with the lwer extensin arm hles using the same prcedure and hardware as in Step 2. 8 Rim Attachment NOTE: Use all steps f the fllwing instructins t install a reflex rim. T install a static rim, fllw all steps except Steps 2 and 6. TIME OUT TIP: Yur warranty card is lcated behind prtective sheeting. Yu MUST fill ut and return this card t activate yur warranty. Step 1: Unpack rim. Remve any remaining cardbard edge prtectrs and prtective sheeting frm backbard. Fur bushings are factry installed n the backbard. If lse, make sure t have them seated prperly when tightening rim blts. If missing, cntact Galsetter r dealer. DO NOT install rim withut bushings. If the bushings are nt in place, glass backbards can shatter and acrylic backbards can crack! Crrect sequence f hardware installatin MUST be fllwed during assembly. Step 2: If nt already remved, remve cver plate screws and cver plate frm rim assembly. Step 3: Starting with the tp tw munting hles, lsely attach rim t backbard fllwing the hardware sequence as shwn in the illustratin belw. Snug tighten hardware. Step 4: Repeat hardware sequence utlined in Step 3 fr lwer rim munting hles. Step 5: Level rim side t side and then fully tighten hardware. Step 6: Psitin cver plate and attach with cver plate screws. Step 7: Attach net t rim. TIME OUT TIP: Level rim side t side befre tightening backbard blts. 9 Raise and Adjust Backbard Fixed Height Gals Only WARNING! T prevent serius injury r death, if using a stepladder, make sure it is in gd cnditin, setting n a level and stable surface and d nt exceed its weight rating. Use tw r three peple t raise backbard assembly and hld it at the 10 psitin. They shuld be in gd physical cnditin and capable f lifting at least lbs (40-45 kg) each. Step 1: Measure the distance frm the playing surface t tp f rim with a tape measure. Step 2: Subtract the measured distance frm 10 this is the amunt the gal will need t be adjusted. Step 3: While ne r tw peple hld up backbard, remve the upper jack pivt blt, washers and lcknut frm the jack munt clevis n upper extensin arm. Step 4: Lengthen r shrten the stabilizer bar by turning it ½ turn fr every ¼ f adjustment needed (r 1 full turn fr every ½ adjustment needed). Step 5: Re-attach stabilizer bar t the jack munt clevis n upper extensin arm using the hardware remved in Step 3. Step 6: Repeat steps 1-5 until a rim height f 10 is achieved. After all height adjustments have been cmpleted, make sure all hardware is prperly tightened, including stabilizer bar lcking nut. Nut shuld be tightened tward the tp f threaded rd, against tp stabilizer bar sectin using a 1 1 / 8 wrench. DO NOT ver-extend threaded rd in stabilizer bar. If ttal length needed is ver 22 ½ (57.15 cm), DO NOT USE. Call Galsetter r yur lcal dealer fr a custm-length stabilizer bar. Cleaning The exterir finish f yur Galsetter gal is designed fr utdr envirnments and shuld nly require peridic cleaning and inspectin fr imperfectins that culd develp ver time. When cleaning is necessary, Galsetter recmmends using water and a mild dish detergent applied with a sft, nn-abrasive clth. Height indicatr indicates gal height frm 6 t 10. Maintenance The life f yur basketball gal system depends n many variables. The climate, expsure t crrsives such as salt, rganic materials, pesticides, r herbicides, and excessive use r misuse can all cntribute t failure f the gal system, which may cause prperty damage r persnal injury. Befre each use, check the gal system fr lse hardware, excessive wear, abuse, r vandalism r signs f rust r crrsin. Fr safety reasns, and t prlng the life f yur basketball system, yu must take the fllwing preventative measures: Check all nuts and blts. Inspect the threads and replace if necessary. If any are lse, tighten them. Check all parts fr excessive wear and tear. If necessary, replace any parts that have been wrn r damaged thrugh usage. Check all sectins f the gal system fr visible rust r chipped r cracked paint, and if present, repair apprpriately. See Paint Tuch-Up n this page. IF RUST OR CORROSION HAS PENETRATED ANY COMPONENT, DO NOT ALLOW PLAY ON THE GOAL AND REPLACE PARTS IMMEDIATELY. Cntact Galsetter Systems, Inc. fr replacement parts. Only use parts prvided by Galsetter Systems, Inc. Use f ther parts (a) may cause the gal system t fail, (b) culd result in death, serius injury r prperty damage, and (c) will vid the warranty. Inspect the Warning Sticker n the ple. If it is ripped, faded r illegible, cntact Galsetter Systems, Inc. t request a replacement Warning Sticker. DO NOT use abrasive cleaners t clean the gal. Damage t the finish may result. Paint Tuch-Up Galsetter Systems, Inc. uses a tw-part acrylicenamel paint n the gals. With peridic inspectin and service when needed, the high-glss finish is designed t last fr many years. A small bttle f black paint with brush is prvided in the hardware kit fr tuch up f imperfectins as they develp. If mre tuch up is required, please cntact Galsetter Systems, Inc. r yur lcal Galsetter Dealer. Lubricatin The jack is pre-lubricated. As with any mechanical cmpnent, peridic inspectin and service is required. Galsetter Systems, Inc. recmmends applying lubricatin each spring and fall t keep a smth peratin f the height actuatr. Failure t d s culd result in jack failure and nt be cvered under warranty. Lubricate jack. Add a liberal amunt f lubricating il t the il hle lcated at end f jack extensin arm. Drain Hle Oil Hle Rubber Bt A general-purpse lubricating il like 3-in-1 r lightweight mtr il is recmmended. DO NOT use a penetrating il (i.e. WD40.)
