We partner with ver 22 agencies, including the Hays-Caldwell Wmen s Center, Suthside Hmeless Shelter and Buda United Methdist Church Fd Pantry. We als hld 6 distributins in the Hays Cunty area and partner with Capital Area Fd Bank & San Marcs CISD n the first Tuesday f every mnth fr a mbile fd pantry. What des Hunger lk like in Hays Cunty? Financial dnatins allw us t buy what we need when we need it and are als needed t keep ur facility perating and ur prgrams functining. Fr every $1 dnated we can prvide up t 5 meals. What times f year are fd drives mst needed? We always have a need fr fd dnatins, hwever, ur highest need seasns are summer, due t schl being ut and the end f the year during hliday seasn. What types f fd shuld be dnated? We accept bth nnperishable and perishable fd items. Nnperishable items need t be labeled and sealed. Open items and thse withut labels cannt be accepted. We als welcme dnatins f fresh prduce frm lcal gardeners and farmers. Please see ur Fd Drive Wish list fr details. D yu have bxes r barrels available fr use? We recmmend that yu use small bxes and grcery bags t cllect fd. Surces fr free bxes and bags are yur lcal grcery r liqur stres. This will make it easier fr lading/unlading and strage at ur warehuse. Can yu pick up my dnatin? Depending n the size f yur fd drive we may be able t pick up yur fd. If yur fd dnatin is ver 500 punds (apprximately, 500 cans), we have limited availability fr fd drive pick-ups, based n driver and van availability. If yu are eligible t have yur fd drive picked up, please call ur Operatins Department at x235 t arrange fr pickup. Our designated pick up times are Tuesday and Thursday frm 1pm t 3pm. Hwever, if yu are able t deliver, please d, as that helps us maintain efficiency and keep csts dwn, allwing us t serve an even greater number f families in need. What items shuld NOT be dnated? 5 Tips n Organizing & Running Yur Fd Drive 1. Register Use ur nline fd drive registratin frm t register yur event as sn as pssible. The sner yu register, and the mre details yu prvide, the better we will be able t supprt yur effrts and track yur cntributins. Prvide the date and time yu will be drpping ff yur fd drive dnatins s we can make sure we have the staffing and space needed. See #5 belw fr preferred drp ff times. 2. Plan Cllect Supplies & set up cllectin pints. Place signs, psters and cllectin bxes in high traffic areas like lbbies, and break rms. A pster, bx signs and an items wish list are included in this tl kit. TIP: It is best t use smaller size cllectin bxes. A gd example is a cpy paper bx. Add t the ccasin by decrating yur bxes t make them stick ut. 3. Prmte Encurage everyne t prmte the pprtunity t clleagues and peers in the weeks leading up t the event. Use , send a mem, mentin in yur internal newsletter r scial media, and annunce the drive at departmental meetings. We will als share yur event thrugh ur scial media. 4. Invlve Set a gal. It gives participants smething t wrk tward and a way t measure their success. The gal can be based n the amunt raised the last time r yu can set a gal based n the number f participants. Make participatin easy. Incrprate the fd drive int an event such as a cmpany picnic, a hliday party, r ther event. Depending n the length f the fd drive, prvide participants with a prgress reprt during the fd drive t encurage participatin. Fr thse interested, schedule a tur f the fd bank prir t the fd drive. Make it a friendly cmpetitin between departments r grups. See if the leader in yur cmpany will ffer a reward t the winning department, such as a casual day r ging hme an hur early n Friday. Optins like a pizza lunch r blue jean Friday are generally ppular in ffice envirnments. *NOTE: If yu are hlding a cmpetitin, please mark the bxes clearly s we can weigh them separately. Have varius departments r grups respnsible fr cllecting different items. Fr example the accunting department brings beans, Human Resurces brings pasta, etc. Make each day f the week a designated fd day.
