10 Statement Develpment and Review Statement preparatin can be an arduus prcess invlving tw t three, and smetimes fur, iteratins f the SSC reviewing the draft statement prepared by the rapprteur Once the SSC has finalized its statement, cpies are prvided t Cuncil members and made available t the public The SSC Chair, r a designated SSC member, reads the statement t the Cuncil and answers any questins the Cuncil may have cncerning the statement itself, r the discussin that ccurred in the SSC 10

12 Develpment f Research Pririties The PFMC s Cuncil Operating Prcedure (Number 12) addresses Update and Cmmunicatin f Research and Data Needs. It specifies that the Cuncil will update and maintain a research and data needs dcument which lists and priritizes unmet Cuncil research and data cllectin needs fr each fishery management plan. If there are analyses r mdels presented in ne f these dcuments that the Cuncil r dcument develpers wish t have reviewed, it wuld ccur thrugh the prcess described abve. 15

16 Prcedures f Decisin making The SSC f the Pacific Fishery Management Cuncil is a cnsensus bdy. All statements regarding items n the agenda that are prviding advice t the Cuncil are develped by the SSC as a whle and apprved by cnsensus. 16

17 Preparatin f Minutes Cuncil Staff assemble all statements that are prduced by the SSC during the meeting int the minutes f that meeting fr SSC review and apprval at the next meeting. 17
