2 Franchised Hauler Exemptin fr Recycling Applicatin Franchised Hauler Prgram Overview The City f Ann Arbr has transitined t a single hauler fr all cmmercial refuse cllectin in the City, which began July 1, The City s single hauler cmmercial refuse cllectin prgram has the fllwing features: A cmmercial refuse cllectin cntract has been signed with Waste Management f Michigan, Inc. (WMM). WMM will be prviding cllectin and cntainer rental services fr all cmmercial refuse cllectin service rders requested by the City. WMM was selected t prvide these services thrugh a cmpetitive prcurement. The service cntract extends thrugh June 30, 2017, with ne ptin t extend until June 20, Other infrmatin regarding the cmmercial refuse services can be fund in the FAQ s. Cmmercial Recycling began July 1, Exemptins frm the franchised recycling services are prvided in the fllwing: 2:9. Variances (3)Request fr exemptin frm city prvided recycling services. a. Effective July 1, 2011, any cmmercial lcatin wner and/r cmmercial lcatin manager may request, using n-line frms made available by the city, t the City Administratr r designee, that they be exempted frm use f the city prvided recycling service. The request shall specify the circumstances that necessitate such exemptin status, which may include but are nt limited t a crprate cntract whse prvisins are utside the persn's r entity's cntrl, r a specialized service that cannt be prvided by the city service. b. The request fr exemptin shall be submitted with a recycling cmpliance plan and recycling cmpliance reprt fr the cmmercial lcatins under questin. c. A cmmercial lcatin granted an exemptin under this sectin must maintain cmpliance with all ther prvisins f this rdinance r said exemptin shall be administratively revked. The request fr exemptin must be submitted annually by May 15th f each year t dcument the cntinuatin int the next 12-mnth perid (beginning July 1) f the cnditins under which the Exemptin was granted. Said exemptin is effectively terminated if and when the cnditins cited as the reasn fr the exemptin status cease t exist. It shall be the respnsibility f the cmmercial lcatin wner and/r cmmercial lcatin manager t infrm the city f this change in status within 30 days f ccurrence. e. Regardless f an exemptin being granted, such cmmercial lcatins must cmply in full with all requirements f this chapter and regulatin including requirements fr separatin f recycling frm refuse in separate recycling cntainers. All businesses requesting t btain an exemptin frm the franchised hauler s recycling services must cmplete the attached applicatin frm and submit an updated cpy n an annual basis. Prvide up-t-date cntact infrmatin fr each lcatin. Attach additinal frms if yu are requesting an exemptin fr mre than three lcatins Sectin 2: Cntract Infrmatin Refer t the criteria fr exemptin listed in the Franchised Waste Hauler Prgram Overview abve. If yur business des nt meet the criteria, yur applicatin will be rejected. Prvide cmplete cntact infrmatin fr the persn in yur cmpany respnsible fr making decisins regarding yur cntract fr recycling services. Prvide cmplete cntact infrmatin fr the hauler yu have cntracted with t prvide recycle services. All haulers listed must be licensed by the City f Ann Arbr. Cntact data prvided n this applicatin will be used t verify haulers license status. Sectin 3: Attachment f Cntract Attach a cpy f yur cmpany s current recycle service cntract, shwing date f cntract, cntract term, and signatures. Sectin 4: Data Reprting Requirement Prvide cmplete cntact infrmatin fr the persn in yur cmpany respnsible fr ensuring cmpliance with the City f Ann Arbr s reprting requirements.
