4 The summer after graduatin, I married my high schl sweetheart, Wilbur Lamm, and we mved int an apartment in Raleigh while he finished degrees in agricultural engineering and agricultural ecnmics at NC State. During that first year f marriage, I wrked at St. Mary s Junir Cllege as assistant in the library. After Wilbur s graduatin, we mved t Trentn, NC, where I taught histry at Jnes Senir High and Wilbur served as Assistant Supervisr with FHA. After tw years there, we returned t Bailey where Wilbur farmed with his father and brther and I began a 20-year career as scial studies teacher at Suthern Nash Junir High and was recgnized as Nash Cunty s Teacher f the Year in Our sn, Brent Watsn Lamm, was brn in Brent, wh graduated frm NCSU in electrical engineering, nw lives in Raleigh, and wrks as Vice President and Deputy CIO with UNC Health Systems. He and his first wife blessed us with tw beautiful granddaughters, Madisn (11) and Meghan (9) and it s my pleasure t nanny them alternating weeks thrughut the year. After finishing a Master s degree in Curriculum and Instructin plus Supervisin at NCSU in 1992, I fund anther 20-year career this time with Nrth Carlina Farm Bureau. While I had nt expected t leave public schl educatin, I accepted a psitin as Directr f Ag in the Classrm t help teachers gain strategies t enhance student understanding and appreciatin f the rle f farmers in ur sciety. While I enjyed wrk with Farm Bureau and the pprtunity it gave me t travel, I retired in 2012 and fund retirement GREAT! I cntinue t enjy traveling as well as scrapbking, gardening, sewing and needlewrk. I am the pianist and an active member at Bailey Baptist Church and als am invlved lcally with early and electin day vting, bk club, and Delta Kappa Gamma. Life threw me several curve balls between December 2007, and April 2010, with the passing f my father, mther and my belved sister Martha (Class f 1970) and Wilbur (frm a sudden strke). My health cntinues t be fairly gd, assisted by a ttal left knee replacement in Gd has been gd t me in many ways. He hlds me in the Palm f His Hand every day, fr which I am very grateful. 4
