Fr the electrical industry, these units are laid dwn in the Natinal Electrtechnlgy Cmpetency Standards. T be assessed as cmpetent against Natinal Electrtechnlgy Cmpetency Standards, individuals need t demnstrate they have acquired specified essential knwledge and assciated skills (EKAS) and undertaken related wrkplace functins The assessment f specified essential knwledge and assciated skills is carried ut during the ff-the-jb cmpnent f an individuals training, nrmally thrugh the assessment f Essential Knwledge and Assciated Skills Learning Specificatins whilst undertaking the qualificatin at a Cllege/Skill Centre. Wrk experience recrds prvide evidence that the applicant has, ver a perid f time, carried ut relevant wrkplace activities (e.g. install ) including each element (plan, carry ut, cmplete) acrss the range f equipment r prcedures autnmusly and t specified requirements, and n multiple ccasins. That is, these recrds can be used t make judgments abut the applicant s n-the-jb perfrmance. The purpse f this dcument is t prvide a mechanism the emplyer can use t ensure that the apprentice/applicant has expsure t all f the experience required by the training package t be deemed cmpetent. This dcument will be attached t the apprentice/applicants training cntract and the students prgress will be mnitred by the RTO n a six mnthly basis.
