Mke sure you hve ll the components. 2 Before you use the scnner Instll the supplied Li-ion Bttery into the end of your scnner, s shown in the illustrtion. (DSmoile 820W) (DSmoile 920DW) When chrging the ttery, press nd hold the Power utton to turn off your scnner. You cn chrge the ttery with the power either on or off, ut chrging tkes more time when powered on. When chrging the ttery with the power on, slide the Wi-Fi switch to OFF. When the scnner is turned on, the ttery level is displyed on the LCD pnel. Bttery icon Power level Full Hlf full Low If you do not use the scnner for long period, chrge the ttery fully t lest once every six months to prolong ttery cpcity nd store the ttery in cool, dry plce t consistent temperture. If you do not use the scnner for long period, remove the ttery from the scnner. c Mke sure tht your computer is ON. Connect the supplied Micro USB Cle to the micro USB port on your scnner. Connect the cle to your computer. The ttery strts chrging utomticlly. d Gently insert the supplied SD Memory Crd into the memory crd slot on your scnner. 2 3 Scn document to the memory crd Mke sure tht the SD Memory Crd is in the scnner s memory crd slot. Press the Power utton 1 to turn on your scnner. c d e f To scn document using your computer (TWAIN Mode), you must instll scnner drivers nd softwre (see step 5) nd connect your computer to the scnner (see Connecting your scnner to your computer in TWAIN Mode in the User s Guide). Mke sure tht SD ppers on the scnner s LCD pnel. Insert your document, fce up, into the feeder slot. Align the document with the left edge 2 of the feeder slot. Slide the document guide 3 until it touches the right side of the document. For DSmoile 920DW: When you perform duplex scnning, insert the first pge fce up into the feeder slot. Gently push the document until you feel its top edge touch the inside of the scnner. Scnning egins utomticlly. The scnned imge will e sved onto the SD Memory Crd. c On your wireless device, select your scnner s SSID, Brother DS-820W-xxxx (Brother DS-920DW-xxxx). (Where xxxx = your scnner s Medi Access Control (MAC) ddress.) Browse for scnned imges on your scnner s memory crd Mke sure tht the SD Memory Crd is in the scnner s memory crd slot. Lunch we rowser on your wireless device nd type (your scnner s IP ddress) in the ddress r. When you first view scnned imges, the Pssword Setup screen will pper. Set pssword nd click Apply. If you hve lredy set your pssword, log in y entering your pssword. Your scnner s home pge ppers in the rowser. When there re scnned imges sved on the memory crd, these imges will pper in the home screen. You cn lso view scnned imges stored on the memory crd using n ccess point. For more informtion, see Connecting in infrstructure mode in the User s Guide. After viewing the scnned dt, slide the Wi-Fi switch to OFF to sve the ttery. 4 Browse scnned imges using wireless network View scnned imges using Android / ios To use Avision (miwnd) for rowsing or downloding imges from your scnner, instll the ppliction from Google Ply (Android ) or the App Store (ios) onto your wireless equipment (computer, smrtphone, tlet, etc.). Locte the scnner on your wireless network If you hve not set Wi-Fi network pssword, e sure to set up network pssword in your we rowser first. For more informtion on setting pssword, see Setting Wi-Fi network pssword in the User s Guide. Without Wi-Fi network pssword, dt on your SD crd cn e viewed nd stolen y third prty. Slide the Wi-Fi switch on the end of your scnner to ON. Wit for out 40 seconds, until the Wi-Fi LED turns from red to lue. Activte the Wi-Fi function of your wireless equipment (computer, smrtphone, tlet, etc.) so tht it cn serch for your scnner. 5 Instll scnner drivers nd scnning softwre Mke sure tht your computer is ON nd you re logged on with Administrtor rights. If your computer does not hve DVD-ROM drive, downlod the scnner driver from Brother Solutions Center t support.rother.com 2

Rechrgele Li-ion ttery At the time of purchse, the rechrgele Li-ion ttery is slightly chrged so tht the opertion of the scnner cn e verified; however, the rechrgele Li-ion ttery should e fully chrged vi the USB port efore the scnner is used. If the scnner will not e used for long period of time, remove the rechrgele Li-ion ttery from the scnner, nd then store it in loction where it is not exposed to sttic electricity, high humidity, or high tempertures (tempertures etween 15 nd 25 C nd 40 to 60% humidity re recommended). In order to mintin the efficiency nd life of the Li-ion rechrgele ttery, chrge it t lest every six months. If you notice nything unusul out the rechrgele Li-ion ttery the first time it is used, for exmple overheting or rust, DO NOT continue to use the ttery. Contct Brother customer service. Tips on using the rechrgele Li-ion ttery Chrge the rechrgele Li-ion ttery efore use. Do not use it efore it is chrged. The rechrgele Li-ion ttery chrging cn tke plce in 5~35 C environments. Chrge the rechrgele Li-ion ttery in n environment in this temperture rnge. If the surrounding temperture is out of this rnge, the rechrgele Li-ion ttery will not e chrged, nd the ttery indictor will remin lit. If the scnner is used when oth the rechrgele Li-ion ttery is instlled nd the scnner is connected to your computer, the ttery indictor my turn off nd chrging my stop even if the rechrgele Li-ion ttery hs not een fully chrged. Rechrgele Li-ion ttery chrcteristics Understnding the properties of the rechrgele Li-ion ttery will llow you to optimize its usge. Using or storing the rechrgele Li-ion ttery in loction exposed to high or low tempertures my ccelerte its deteriortion. In prticulr, using rechrgele Li-ion ttery with high chrge (90% or more) in loction exposed to high tempertures will considerly ccelerte ttery deteriortion.
