9 1 PREPARE THE FAN SITE Instlltion requires sic electricl knowledge. Contct licensed electricin if you re uncomfortle performing electricl work! 1 Disconnect Power! Mounting Structure If you re instlling the fn directly to the uilding structure 2 or to ceiling-mounted outlet ox, the structure or outlet ox must e suitle for fn support. Disconnect power to the fn loction efore wiring the fn! A redily ccessile disconnect device shll e incorported externl to the equipment. HAIKU HOME 7

11 1 Moving clockwise round the fn, lign ech irfoil on the fn hu nd secure it with the screws nd wshers. Mke sure the stickers on the irfoils mtch the stickers on the fn hu. Hrdwre:. M5 irfoil screw. 5 mm lock wsher 2 Remove nd recycle the plstic protective cover (c). STEPS COMPLETED HAIKU HOME 9

13 1 2 Position the lower cover over the fn motor, nd then plce oth hnds flt on the cover nd turn it clockwise to lock it in plce. Align the four slots on the lower cover trim with the four smll round ts on the fn hu. Press nd turn the lower cover trim clockwise to lock it into plce. STEPS COMPLETED HAIKU HOME 11

14 INSTALL THE MOUNTING BRACKET Outlet Box If your locl electricl code requires the fn to e instlled on ceiling-mounted outlet ox, the outlet ox must e suitle for fn support. If there is not n outlet ox t the fn loction, one should e instlled on ceiling joist or em nd properly wired. Concrete Ceiling If instlling your fn on concrete ceiling, ensure power wiring hs een routed to the fn site. Low Profile Mount. Attch the mounting plte directly to the ceiling using four Ø 8 mm nchor olts. If required y your locl uilding nd sfety code, instll Ø 14 mm nchor hook for the sfety cle. Stndrd Mount. Instll the fn where there is ceiling hook or other sufficient structurl support. If there is not hook t the fn site, instll hnger plte using three Ø mm nchor olts. Do not use the mounting rcket supplied with the fn. If required y your locl uilding nd sfety code, instll n Ø mm nchor hook for the sfety cle. Universl Mount. Attch the mounting rcket directly to the ceiling using three Ø 6 mm nchor olts. If required y your locl uilding nd sfety code, instll n Ø 8 mm nchor hook for the sfety cle. Wood Ceiling Joist If instlling your fn on wood ceiling joist, ensure power wiring hs een routed to the fn site. Attch the mounting plte or mounting rcket directly to the joist using two wood screws (not supplied). Hiku Home recommends using corrosion-resistnt x 45 mm hex hed timer screws with sel. 12 REV. Secure the mounting plte or mounting rcket () to the outlet ox with the hrdwre supplied with the outlet ox. Refer to the outlet ox instructions. The hole depth should not exceed 40 mm. Remove ny dust from the holes. Insert four nchor olts () into the holes. Strike the heds of the nchor olts with hmmer, ensuring the olt sleeves re flush with the ceiling surfce. Position the mounting plte () on the nchor olts. Ensure ll four nchor olts re fully tightened to expnd nd lock the nchors. If required y locl uilding nd sfety codes, instll n nchor hook (c) for the sfety cle. Drill Ø 14 mm hole for the nchor hook in the pttern shown. The hole depth should not exceed 50 mm. Remove ny dust from the hole, nd then insert the nchor hook nd fully tighten. Stndrd Mount Drill three Ø mm holes in the pttern shown. The hole depth should not exceed mm. Remove ny dust from the holes. Insert three nchor olts () into the holes. 22 MOUNT THE FAN Low Profile Mount The low profile mount cn e instlled on flt ceilings tht re s low s 8 feet (2.4 m). This mount is ville for fns with 52-inch (132-cm) or 60-inch (152-cm) dimeters. Stndrd Mount The stndrd mount moves ir most efficiently when instlled on flt ceilings rnging from feet ( meters) tll. This mount is ville for fns with 52-inch (132-cm) or 60-inch (152-cm) dimeters. Universl Mount The universl mount cn e instlled on sloped or flt ceilings rnging from feet ( meters) tll. 27 2 Loosely ttch one mounting rcket to the mounting plte with the nylock nuts, ut do not fully tighten. Rise the fn to the rcket nd temporrily rest one ruer umper in the spce etween the rcket nd plte. This provides extr support when securing the sfety cle. Hrdwre:. 6 mm nylock nuts 3 While supporting the fn, loop the sfety cle round the mounting plte or uilding structure, nd then secure it with the shckle (). Allow the fn to hng from the sfety cle. With the fn hnging from the sfety cle, insert the fn wires nd ceiling wires into the wire connectors. Test the connection y lightly tugging on the wires. 31 5 Rise the fn to the mount. Insert one ruer umper etween the mounting plte nd the loosely instlled mounting rcket. Position the other ruer umper (), nd then secure it with the remining mounting rcket () nd the nuts. Tighten ll hrdwre. Hrdwre: c. 6 mm nylock nuts 6 Slide the wiring cover (d) up the extension tue, llowing out 1/8 (3 mm) gp to the ceiling. Rotte the cover so tht the mounting slots lign with the screw holes on the extension tue, nd then secure it with the screws (e). Slide the trim (f) up the extension tue, ligning the ts on the inside with the slots on the ottom of the wiring cover. Twist clockwise to snp the trim into position. 33 1 With the fn in the upright position, remove the protective covering from the extension tue. Slide the wiring cover () nd wiring cover trim () over the extension tue, resting them on the fn hu. STEP COMPLETED HAIKU HOME 31

35 2 Outlet Box or Wood Ceiling Joist Loosely instll the mount rce rckets () with the provided hrdwre. One olt should e inserted in the middle hole. Do not fully tighten the hrdwre. Hrdwre:. M6 x 1 x 25 mm socket cp screw c. M6 x 1 nylock nut J-Shped Ceiling Hook Mke sure the ceiling hook is cst into the concrete ceiling. Set the ruer ushing () in the eye of the ceiling hook (). Loosely instll the mount rce rckets (c) with the provided hrdwre. Two olts should e inserted in the outer holes. Do not fully tighten the hrdwre. Hrdwre: d. M6 x 1 x 25 mm socket cp screws e. M6 x 1 nylock nuts U-Shped Ceiling Hook Mke sure the ceiling hook is cst into the concrete ceiling. Set the ruer ushing () in the eye of the ceiling hook (). 37 3 Rise the extension tue to the mount, nd insert the extension tue rckets etween the mount rckets () nd the ruer ushing so tht the mounting holes re ligned. Loop the sfety cle round the ceiling hook nd through the nchor hook, nd then secure it with the shckle (). 43 6 7 Slide the wiring cover () up the extension tue, llowing out 1/8 (3 mm) gp to the ceiling. Rotte the wiring cover so tht the mounting slots lign with the screw holes on the extension tue, nd then secure it with the screws (). Mke sure tht there re no wires visile. If there is not enough clernce etween the cover nd ceiling, move the screw to the lower hole. Slide the wiring cover trim (c) up the extension tue, ligning the ts on the inside with the slots on the ottom of the wiring cover. Twist clockwise to snp into position. 45 1 With the fn in the upright position, loosely secure the motor rckets () to the motor shft with the M6 x 28 mm olt () nd nut (d). Instll the extension tue with the M6 x 32 mm olt (c) nd nut (d). Securely tighten oth olts. Hrdwre:. M6 x 28 mm olt c. M6 x 32 mm olt d. M6 nut 2 Plug the wiring hrness from the extension tue into the wiring hrness from the fn. STEPS COMPLETED HAIKU HOME 43

47 Mke sure the wires re tightly secured ginst the motor rckets so tht the wiring cover sets properly. 3 Instll the sfety cle () nd ground wire () lugs with the unpinted screws (c) nd lock wshers (d). Hrdwre: c. Unpinted M4 x 6 mm screws d. M4 lock wshers 4 5 Secure the wiring hrness (e) to the motor rckets with the provided cle tie. Mke sure the wires re tightly secured ginst the motor rckets so tht the wiring cover sets properly. Slide the wiring cover (f) down the extension tue, resting it on the fn hu. Mke sure no wires re visile etween the cover nd fn hu. Slide the cnopy (g) down the extension tue. STEPS COMPLETED HAIKU HOME 45

49 6 7 8 Slide the mounting ll () over the extension tue (). Insert the 6 mm steel pin (c) into the hole t the top of the extension tue, nd then slide the mounting ll upwrd, seting the steel pin in the inner slots. Insert the wedge (d) into the mounting ll nd secure it with the screw (e). Tighten the screw enough to prevent movement etween the mounting ll nd extension tue, ut do not overtighten. 53 10 Rise the fn to the mounting rcket. Align the ri in the mounting rcket () with the slot in the mounting ll (), position the mounting ll, nd let the fn hng freely. Gently twist the extension tue to ensure it is properly seted nd will not move during fn opertion. 11 Connect the wiring hrnesses. Secure the green ground wire from the extension tue to the supply ground wire nd the green ground wire on the mounting rcket. STEPS COMPLETED HAIKU HOME 51

55 12 Loop the sfety cle round the mounting rcket or uilding structure, nd then secure it with the shckle. Hrdwre:. Shckle 13 Rise the cnopy to the mounting rcket, lining up the four holes on the cnopy with the holes on the rcket. Secure the cnopy to the mounting rcket with the pinted screws. 56 6 TEST YOUR FAN Do not expose the remote control to rin or wter. Before using the remote control, remove the plstic t from the ttery try. Turn on power to the fn loction nd test functionlity using the remote. Turn on the fn nd test speed nd light rightness. If you purchsed the Hiku Wll Control, follow the instructions pckged with the wll control.
