4 Stern Drive Unit Removl 1. Shift remote ontrol into NEUTRAL. 2. Position rive to full DOWN position n remove power trim yliners (ft en) from rive shft housing. 3. Remove stern rive unit. Chek tht shift linkge jws open n relese shift le en Loknuts n Wshers - Groun Plte - Wsher Not Use t This Lotion Cp - Nut - Smll I.D. Wsher - Trim Cyliner Cp Shift Linkge Jws - Open - Shift Cle En - Relese from Jws 2A-2 - STERN DRIVE UNIT

5 Stern Drive Unit Instlltion 1. Instll n lign engine. (Refer to pproprite engine servie mnul.) NOTE: If engine ws remove n shift le ws isonnete, reinstll n just shift le efore proeeing. (Refer to the Shift Cle Instlltion n Ajustment instrutions foun in the Brvo Stern Drive Unit Servie Mnul.) 2. Ple the remote ontrol shift lever in the NEU- TRAL position. 3. Lurite ell housing stus with Quiksilver 2-4-C Mrine Lurint. 4. Lurite U-joint shft O-rings n U-joint shft splines with Quiksilver Engine Coupler Spline Grese U-Joint Shft Splines - U-Joint Shft O-Rings IMPORTANT: The ege of U-joint ellows ts s sel etween ell housing n rive shft housing. Ensure surfe is not mge Bell Housing Stus - Drive Shft Bellows Ege REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION - 2A-3

6 5. Inspet rive shft ellows for rks, niks n lenliness. 6. Lurite O-ring sels on fe of rive shft housing with Quiksilver 2-4-C Mrine Lurint. IMPORTANT: As you re inserting the stern rive unit into ell housing, the entrne of the ell housing shift le must e losely heke to ensure le enters the jws of shift linkge ssemly in the rive unit. NOTE: As ell housing shift le enters the shift linkge ssemly, it pushes the ssemly k into the rive shft housing, n the jw loses, seuring the le s shown in Figures A, B n C O-ring Sels 7. Pull out shift linkge s fr s it moves - jws will open NOTE: If ell housing shift le oes not line up to properly enter jws of shift linkge ssemly, use your hn to guie le into ple while instlling stern rive unit Shift Linkge Assemly - Jws - Open - Lurite Unersie of Lower Lip of Shift Linkge Assemly s Shown with Quiksilver Speil Lurint Shift Linkge Assemly Jws - Shift Cle 2A-4 - STERN DRIVE UNIT

7 8. Instll stern rive unit.. Position trim yliners so they point 45 egrees upwr. Be reful not to srth splsh plte.. Align universl joint shft with ell housing ore.. Guie U-joint shft through giml ering n into engine oupler. Mke sure tht shift linkge jws engge with shift le.. If neessry, rotte propeller shft slightly to lign U-joint shft splines with engine oupler splines, then slie rive unit ll the wy into ell housing. e. Rotte propeller shft slightly to ensure tht rive unit is still in neutrl one instlle. 9. Fsten stern rive unit to ell housing. Strting from enter, torque nuts to 50 l. ft. (68 N m).. Ple lrge I.D. flt wsher etween ruer ushing n stern rive housing.. Slie ft nhor pin through ruer ushings, lrge I.D. flt wsher n stern rive housing ore. e. Ple lrge I.D. flt wsher on ft nhor pin ginst stern rive housing. f. Instll ruer ushings in other ft trim yliner pivot en. Be sure to instll ushings with smll imeter en fing eh other. g. Align yliner ore with stern rive housing ore n slie ft nhor pin through ruer ushings. h. Be sure to instll ushings with smll imeter en fing eh other.. Align yliner ore with stern rive housing ore. 12. Tighten forwr n ft nhor pin nuts until nuts n wshers ottom out ginst nhor pin shouler. 13. Atth trim yliner ps; hn tighten only.
