It provides clea, evirometally friedly ad ecoomical heatig solutios for large areas. The XE 500 is loaded with features that sets it apart from the competitio ad make it easy to use almost aywhere. The XE 500 efficiecy ratig is above 90%, depedig o evirometal ad job site coditios, without the use of ay spark, frictio or flame. Follow all maiteace ad operatig guidelies for the egie (see appropriate operatio maual from egie maufacturer). 15. Do ot have persos i or o the trailer while towig or operatig. 16. Follow the maiteace schedule for the MagTec XE 500. (see sectio 6). 17. Do ot allow uauthorized persos to be ear or to operate the XE Do ot attempt to perform service other tha geeral maiteace. If aythig other the geeral maiteace is required cotact your local dealer. 3.3 Operator Safety The followig are geeral guidelies ad safety precautios the operator must follow while operatig the MagTec XE 500 to maitai a safe work eviromet. Failure to observe these may result i damage to the equipmet, property, ijury or death. 1. Use cautio i workig aroud the egie ad magetic disks. They rotate at very high speeds. Baggy, loose clothig ad log hair ca become caught i rotatig machiery. 2. Always be alert of where your body s extremities are relative to movig or hot parts. 3. Always wear CSA or ANSI approved persoal protective equipmet (PPE) icludig proper eye protectio, hearig protectio ad gloves durig operatio. 4. Be careful i operatig the MagTec XE 500. This uit operates at very high temperatures. HTF will be very HOT durig ad after operatio. 5. Be alert i all your seses (hearig, smell, visio, ad touch) to observe operatio ad ay abormalities i the fuctio of the MagTec XE Never use alcohol or other substaces while usig the MagTec XE Do ot smoke while operatig the MagTec XE 500 or refuelig. Do ot refuel the MagTec XE 500 ear ope flames. 8. Do ot operate uit without safety guards i place.

13 12 MagTec Eergy XE 500 Operator s Maual MagTec Eergy, LLC 10/2009 OPERATING PROCEDURES Read ad uderstad all operatig procedures before operatig the MagTec XE 500 Failure to observe these may result i damage to the equipmet, property, ijury or death. 4.1 Setup 1. Positio rear of trailer ear locatio to be heated. a. NOTE: Positio as close as possible but stay at least 12 feet from fixed structures to allow for proper vetilatio. b. Place trailer o a level surface. 2. Chock the trailer wheels to prevet movemet. 3. Use the frot jack to raise the hitch ad remove the tow vehicle. 4. Level the uit usig the frot jack. Positio the jack so that the trailer frame tilts slightly to the rear. 5. If groud heater is used, uwid 5/8 groud hose ad postitio i desired locatios: a. NOTE: Do ot place groud hose further tha 400 feet from the trailer distributor maifold. b. NOTE: Do ot place groud hose more tha 60 feet above the trailer distributor maifold. c. Place groud hose where it will allow for optimum efficiecy. d. To maually uwid hose, release brake ad clutch. (See Sectio 2.1) 6. If air heat exchagers are used (optioal), positio i desired locatio ad hook 1 hose to maifold for proper circulatio. 4.2 Pre-Startup 1. Ope left side access door ad tur power switch to ON. Note: Plates may move ad Not Home message will display i messge box util plates are retracted. 2. Verify that the collector plates are retracted. 3. Verify HTF Levels. a. Check HTF fluid level i HTF reservoir Do ot operate if levels are low. b. If level is low, add with MagTec HTF or per specificatio (see appedix A). c. Check for leaks Do ot operate if leaks are preset. 4. Check message box for error codes. Refer to troubleshootig secitio to address errors. 5. Tur power switch off. 6. Verify Egie Oil Level a. Check egie oil level Do ot operate if low. b. If low, add recommeded egie oil (see appedix A). 7. Verify that the Air Shutoff Valve is ope if uit is equipped with a air shut off valve (optioal) 8. If ecessary, coect auxilliary heater plug to 110V power to warm up battery, oil pa, ad HTF fluid. 9. If uit is equipped with a Espar Heater, pull switch out o cotrol pael to tur o to warm coolat i egie. 10. Coect Circulatio Hoses a. Before coectig hoses, make sure the quick-coectios are clea by risig them i water. This will remove ay dirt ad debris which could damage the coectors.

Always wear gloves ad safety glasses whe coectig circulatio hoses for HTF will be HOT durig ad after operatio. d. Make coectios by pushig male ad female eds of the coectors together from the maifold to the heat exchagers. e. Always use the lowest possible umber of hoses as multiple hose coectios will reduce fluid flow. f. Place the hoses so that they will ot be a hazard to people walkig i the area. If a hose will have vehicle traffic over it, place a ramp over it to prevet damage. g. Use isulatio over hoses that are ot withi the area desired to be heated (betwee trailer ad buildig) for best efficiecy. h. Provide extra protectio ad care to hose as leaks may discolor floor surfaces. Place hoses away from high traffic areas. i. Damage to the quick-coectios by rough use or foreig particles is ot covered uder warraty. 4.3 Startup Read ad uderstad the operator s maual from the origial maufacturer regardig the cotrol pael for startup. Failure to observe these may result i damage to the equipmet, property, ijury or death. 1. If less the 0 F, coect 110 voltage to auxiliary heat plug i (located o frot left had side of machie). Keep voltage applied for a miimum of 1 hour. 2. Check egie oil for proper fill height. (See egie operators maual for referece.) 3. Hook up air or groud hose to complete flow circuit or pump damage will occur. DO NOT START egie util circulatio hose has bee coected for proper flow of HTF. 4. Check that E-Stop switch is pulled out to the ru positio 5. Toggle cotroller power switch to ON positio. Wait for cotroller pael to display operatio meu. 6. Select desired air temperature. 7. Check message box for ay error codes. Refer to troubleshootig sectio to address errors. 8. Make sure area is clear of bystaders. 9. Tur egie start key to ON positio. If glow plug light is lit o egie cotrol paelwait util it disappears. This sigals that the glow plugs or grid heater is doe warmig. Note: I extreme cold coditios push fuel primer to esure fuel filters are full of fuel. Cycle key from OFF to ON five times so that glow plugs or grid heater is completely warm. 10.Tur egie start key to start egie. Crak for a maximum of 10 secods before repeatig # Allow egie to warm up o idle util Egie Water Temperature displays above 75 F or egie has idled for a miimum of 15 miutes. 12.Toggle Auto Switch to AUTO Positio. 13. Do ot plug cords ito geerator util the egie is operatig at full speed.

15 14 MagTec Eergy XE 500 Operator s Maual MagTec Eergy, LLC 10/ Operatioal Moitorig The followig should be moitored throughout the operatio of the MagTec XE 500 to esure safety ad effective heatig. 1. Moitor HTF tak temperature gauge. 2. Moitor oil pressure gauge (oil pressure may be lower at idle speed) 3. Moitor fuel level gauge (uit will automatically go dow to idle speed whe fuel level is 1/8 tak low of fuel. 4. Moitor the cyclig of the egie ad retractio of the collector plates as the HTF temperature ad/or air temperature reaches the desired settigs. 5. Periodically check for leaks, various egie malfuctios, loose bolts, etc. 4.5 Shutdow 1. Toggle Auto Switch to OFF positio. 2. Wait for egie RPM to drop to idle the allow 10 miutes for cool dow of egie. 3. Tur egie key to the OFF positio. 4. Tur cotroller power switch to the OFF positio. 5. Discoect circulatio hoses a. Always wear gloves ad safety glasses for protectio while discoectig ad widig hoses. HTF will be very HOT durig after operatio. b. Before discoectig hoses, make sure the quick-coectios are clea by risig them i water. This will remove ay dirt ad debris which will damage the coectors. c. Make discoectios by pushig male ad female eds of the coector apart from the maifold ad heat exchagers. d. Discoect each sectio of hose at the quick-coects. 6. Rewid circulatio hoses by widig oto the hose reel usig the foot pedal to cotrol the operatio. (See Sectio 6.8) 4.6 Emergecy Shutdow / for Emergecy Shut Dow ONLY 1. Push Emergecy Stop Butto i. (located i frot left side corer of trailer).

16 MagTec Eergy, LLC 10/2009 MagTec Eergy XE 500 Operator s Maual 15 TRANSPORTATION 5.1 Towig by Vehicle Failure to observe trasportatio guidelies may result i damage to the equipmet, property, ijury or death. Prior to towig, esure that the followig safety measures are met: NOTE: MagTec is ot resposible for damage icurred due to towig. Tires are iflated to 80 psi. Improperly iflated tires are dagerous ad ca cause accidets. Before towig, check lug uts ad tighte to 110 ft. lbs. To adjust, iitially tighte each lug ut to 20 ft. lbs. i a criss-cross patter by applyig 20 lbs. of pressure to a 12 ich wrech. Proceed to fiish by tighteig to 110 ft. lbs. for each ut (Applyig 110 lbs. of pressure to a 12 ich wrech yields 110 ft. lbs. of torque). Torque wheel lug uts before first road use. Re-torque after 50 miles ad periodically thereafter. Secure trailer to vehicle usig Pitle hitch. Isure that tow vehicle is capable of towig the Tudra ad is properly equipped to do so. Refer to vehicle mauals ad /or dealer for iformatio. Firmly coect trailer wirig coector to towig vehicle wirig coector. Verify lights ad brakes for proper operatio. Attach safety chais from the trailer to the vehicle. Secure all vets to stay closed while trasportig. Locate muffler flap ad secure closed where as possible damage may occur to the turbo charger if sigificat air eters. Capacity of fuel tak is 265 gal, do ot tow vehicle with a full fuel tak. Cosult local law eforcemet for proper vehicle ad driver regulatios before towig. While trasportig uit, lock brake wheel ad clutch to prevet hose reel from turig (See Sectio 2.1) Drivig after drikig alcohol ca lead to a accidet, cause damage ad ijury or possibly death. 5.2 Trasportig by Crae The MagTec XE 500 is maufactured with lift hooks located o the top four (4) corers of the trailer to allow for crae riggig ad hoistig. It is also equipped with forklift positios o frot ad back of the lower uit. Oly a certified crae operator should perform all riggig ad hoistig. Total weight of a XE 500 full of fuel is approximately 13,000 lb, riggig must be capable of liftig total weight. Straps with legths of at least 13 feet must be used o each corer for liftig. 5.3 Trasportig by Flat Bed The MagTec XE 500 may be trasported by flat bed (see 5.2 sectio for riggig ad hoistig). For clearace, remove exhaust vet o top of trailer ad cap it from rai ad debris eterig trailer.

17 16 MagTec Eergy XE 500 Operator s Maual MagTec Eergy, LLC 10/2009 MAINTENANCE 6.1 Heater Uit The followig maiteace will help preserve the life of the MagTec XE 500 trailer ad should be performed by a qualified techicia before each start-up. 1. Whe workig iside uit, remove key from switch ad tur power switch off. 2. Check reservoir for proper level of HTF. 3. Visually ispect pumps ad drive belts for proper operatio. 4. Visually ispect collector actuator egage ad disegage for proper operatio. 5. Check oil dipstick for proper level of oil. 6. Moitor self grease reservoirs (optioal equipmet) or stadard grease zerks. Add grease if eeded. 7. Tighte hose clamps. 8. Ispect the frame ad uder carriage for ay cracks. 9. Visual ispectio for loose uts & bolts. 10. Check battery fluid level (see sectio 6.4). 11. Check for proper istallatio of guards ad safety decals. 12. Check for proper operatio of cotrols icludig emergecy stop. 6.2 Egie Read ad uderstad the appropriate operatio maual from the origial maufacturer regardig the egie. Failure to observe istructios may result i damage to the equipmet, property, ijury or death. 1. Before each egie startup, check egie oil level ad HTF level, add if low (see sectio 2.5). 2. Chage the egie oil per maufacturer s specs. 3. Chage the fuel filter per maufacturer s specs. 4. Chage the air filter per maufacturer s specs. 5. Use oly clea diesel fuel from a reputable source. 6.3 Heat Trasfer Fluid (HTF) The MagTec XE 500 reservoir holds 45 gallos of HTF i ormal operatio. It is recommeded by MagTec to replace the HTF every 3000 service hours or 2 years to esure corrosio free operatios. MagTec HTF is a 50/50 propylee glycol ad water mix. 1. Durig operatio, verify HTF is at the recommeded level ad fill reservoir if low with MagTec HTF. Do ot operate if below recommeded level. Use MagTec Heat Trasfer Fluid per specificatio (see appedix A). HTF will be very hot durig ad after operatio. 6.4 Battery Care 1. Oce a moth, ispect the battery posts ad cables for tightess ad corrosio. Always wear safety glasses or approved eye protectio whe workig with batteries. Wash hads after hadlig.

18 MagTec Eergy, LLC 10/2009 MagTec Eergy XE 500 Operator s Maual Tighte ad clea as ecessary. Clea with bakig soda ad water (1 cup bakig soda per gallo of water). Do ot allow the cleaig solutio to eter the battery. 3. After tighteig ad cleaig, spray the battery posts with ati-corrosio spray. 4. Oce a moth, check the battery fluid level (if battery is ot sealed type). NOTE: If low, fill with Distilled Water Oly. Do ot use tap water i batteries. The water level should be betwee the battery plates ad the bottom of the fill well. Battery fluid is a corrosive acid solutio ad ca cause ijury. Do ot allow fluid to cotact eyes, ski, or clothig. If so, flush the area immediately with large quatities of water. Battery gas is flammable ad explosive. Battery acid if spilled ca cause damage to equipmet or property. JUMP-STARTING BATTERY If the uit has a discharge battery, booster cables may be used to obtai a start from a booster battery or the battery from aother vehicle. This type of start ca be dagerous if doe improperly, so follow this procedure carefully. 1. Remove all metal jewelry such as watch bads, rigs or bracelets which might make a uiteded electrical cotact. 2. Park the booster vehicle withi cable reach. 3. Tur off all electrical loads. 4. Coect oe ed of a jumper cable to the positive termial of the booster battery ad coect the other ed of the same cable to the positive termial of the discharged battery. 5. Coect the other cable, first to the egative termial of the booster battery ad the to the egie of the uit with the discharged battery. Make sure you have a good cotact o the egie. Failure to observe these istructios may result i damage to the equipmet, property, ijury or death. 1. Check to make sure that each tire s tread is wor evely so the trailer will ride smoothly. Excessively wor or damaged tires should be replaced. Ispect the wheels for cracks or deformatio especially aroud the bolt holes ad replace wheel if either is foud. Cofirm proper lug ut tightess (see sectio 5.1). Check for ay rusted lug uts ad replace if foud. 2. Ispect wheel bearigs. Be certai to repack or replace wheel bearigs if defective. Otherwise add wheel bearig grease before ext use of trailer. 3. Check to make sure that the trailer wirig coector is ot frayed ad is free of debris. If wires are cracked or frayed, replace them immediately. 4. Check to make sure that the brakes are workig properly. 5. Check to make sure that the togue jack is workig properly. 6. Ispect the frame ad uder carriage for cracks. 6.6 Pump ad Fa Belts 1. Before ad after each use, rise the coectio i water to remove ay dirt. The dirt will permaetly damage the coectio ad ca void the warraty. Dirt also obstructs a good coectio. 2. Never drop the coectios oto hard surfaces. 3. Whe usig the coectios hadle them carefully. 4. Make sure the coectios are ot placed where they will be drive over. 5.
