1 s SDP63 to SDP AE safety shock absorbers are selfcotaied ad maiteace-free. They are desiged for emergecy deceleratio ad are a ecoomic alterative to idustrial shock absorbers. The primary oil seals are protected iside the mai body ad oly a wiper seal is ecessary o the pisto rod. Dirt or cotamiatio o the pisto rod does ot cause oil leakage or failure as is ofte the case with covetioal buffers. The itegrated gas accumulator eables the SDP Series safety shock absorbers to provide retur forces of up to 110 k. This high retur force is ecessary for multiple-bridge craes where the buffers must separate the bridges after a emergecy collisio. ormal buffers would remai compressed after such a collisio ad would ot be capable of acceptig further impacts. The robust, large dimesioed pisto rod bearig system, is desiged for very heavy duty use ad is equivalet to that used i other buffers 80 % larger i size. The SDP series uits are custom orificed to suit your specific applicatio ad provide a smooth costat deceleratio throughout their complete stroke legth. od utto Pisto Tube Gas Accumulator Positive Stop od Wiper Moutig lage Separator Pisto Pisto Seals Pressure hamber Meterig Orifices Hydraulic Oil 76 uctio: I the ormal ready coditio the pisto rod is fully exteded. Whe the impact load strikes the absorber the hydraulic oil behid the pisto is forced through a series of meterig orifices. The umber of meterig orifices i actio reduces proportioally through the stroke ad the load velocity is thereby reduced to zero. The iteral pressure ad thus the reactio force (Q) remais costat throughout the etire stroke legth. The displaced oil is directed iside the pisto rod where a separator pisto keeps the oil ad the itroge gas apart. The itegrated gas accumulator, cotaiig low pressure itroge, provides the high retur force to reset the rod to its exteded positio ad geerates the high retur forces to comply with crae istallatios. Impact velocity rage: 0.5 to 4.6 m/s Material: Shock absorber body: Paited steel (AL 7024). Pisto rod: Hard chrome plated. 7 s Geeral Istructios 82 Permitted Use AE safety shock absorbers are machie elemets to brake movig masses i a defied ed positio i emergecy stop situatios for axial forces. The safety shock absorbers are ot desiged for regular operatioal usage. alculatio of safety shock absorbers The calculatio of safety shock absorbers should geerally be performed or checked by AE. Deceleratio Properties The orifice sizig ad drill patter i the pressure chamber are idividually desiged for each safety shock absorber. The respective absorptio characteristic is optimised correspodig to the maximum mass that occurs i the emergecy stop ad the impact speed. orrespodigly, each safety shock absorber is give a idividual idetificatio umber. Model ode or types SS33 to 64, the idividual five-digit idetificatio umbers ca be take from the last digits of the shock absorber model code show o the label. Example: SS33-50EU-1XXXX. or type series SDH38 to SDH63 ad SDP63 to SDP160, the idetificatio umber is a five digit umber. Example: SDH38-100EU--XXXXX. I additio to the model code, the label also shows the authorised maximum impact velocity ad maximum authorised impact mass for the uit. Moutig To mout the shock absorber, we recoed the use of origial AE moutig accessories show i catalogue. The moutig of each shock absorber must be exactly positioed so that the reactio force (Q) ca be adequately trasmitted ito the moutig structure. AE recoeds istallatio via the frot flage - moutig style that esures the maximum protectio agaist bucklig. The damper must be mouted so that the movig loads are decelerated with the least possible side loadig to the pisto rod. The maximum permissable side load agles are detailed i our curret catalogue.the etire stroke legth must be used for deceleratio because oly usig part of the stroke ca lead to overstressig ad damage to the uit. Moutig style frot flage - Iitial Start-Up hecks irst impacts o the shock absorber should oly be tried after correctly moutig ad with reduced impact speeds ad if possible with reduced load. Differeces betwee calculated ad actual operatig data ca the be detected early o, ad damage to your system ca be avoided. If the shock absorbers were selected o calculated data that does ot correspod to the maximum possible loadig (i.e. selectio based o drive power beig switched off or at reduced impact speed) the these restricted impact coditios must ot be exceeded durig iitial testig or subsequet use of the system. Otherwise you risk damagig the shock absorbers ad/or your machie by overstressig materials. After the iitial trial check that the pisto rod fully exteds agai ad that there are o sigs of oil leakage. Also check that the moutig hardware is still securely tighteed. You eed to satisfy yourself that o damage has occurred to the pisto rod, the body, or the moutig hardware. ixed Mechaical Stop Safety shock absorbers do ot eed a exteral stop as a stroke limiter. The stroke of the safety absorber is limited by the stop of the impact head o the shock absorber. or types SS33 to SS64, the fixed stop poit is achieved with the itegrated stop collar. What eeds to be hecked after a ull Load Impact? Safety shock absorbers that were origially checked oly at reduced speed or load eed to be checked agai after a full load impact (i.e. emergecy use) has occurred. heck that the pisto rod fully exteds to its full out positio, that there are o sigs of oil leakage ad that the moutig hardware is still securely fixed. You eed to satisfy yourself that o damage has occurred to the pisto rod, the body, or the moutig hardware. If o damage has occurred, the safety shock absorber ca be put back ito ormal operatio (see iitial start-up). Maiteace Safety shock absorbers are sealed systems ad do ot eed special maiteace. Safety shock absorbers that are ot used regularly (i.e. that are iteded for emergecy stop systems) should be checked withi the ormal time frame for safety checks, but at least oce a year. At this time special attetio must be paid to checkig that the pisto rod resets to its fully exteded positio, that there is o oil leakage ad that the moutig brackets are still secure ad udamaged. The pisto rod must ot show ay sigs of damage. Safety shock absorbers that are i use regularly should be checked every three moths. AUTIO: Usage outside the specified temperature rage ca lead to premature breakdow ad damage of of the shock absorbers which ca the result i severe system damage or machie failures.
