Its compact ad robust costructio icorporates basic cotrol ad feedback fuctioality ad commuicates through the FOUNDATION - Fieldbus protocol. All electrical ad peumatic cotrol compoets are located iside oe module housig makig it a compact ad robust costructio icorporatig basic cotrol ad feedback fuctioality ad is suitable for idoor ad outdoor use. Costructio: The Cotrol Module is mouted at the side of the basic actuator housig. Iside, wirig termials are available for coectig the FOUNDATION - Fieldbus sigals. Two cable etries are available. Oe peumatic coectio is available to feed the cotrol module. The pilot valves iside the cotrol module are used to sed the actuator to its ope or closed positio. 4 Sheet No.: Rev: 1, Page 4 of 13 Peumatic cotrol Peumatic cotrol variatios The Cotrol Module cotais all the ecessary peumatic compoets to cotrol the actuator ad cotrol the icomig ad outgoig airflow. Peumatically the modules are available for three applicatios: 1 Sprig retur or 2 Double actig or 3 Double Actig - "Fail-i-Last-Positio". To achieve these fuctios, each Cotrol Module ca be fitted with oe or two pilot valves depedig o the required fuctioality: 1 Oe pilot valve is default ad suitable for ormal operatio of double actig or sprig retur actuators 2 Two pilot valves are required to achieve a "Fail-i- Last-Positio" fuctioality o double actig actuators. 5 Sheet No.: Rev: 1, Page 5 of 13 Peumatic compoets The peumatic compoets iside the module cosist out of oe or two pilot valves ad a 3/2 spool valve or 5/2 bistable spool valve. The spool valves are peumatically operated by the pilot valves. To assure trouble-free operatio, the spool valves are equipped with big ports. This eables a large air flow ad makes it less sesitive for cotamiatio of the iterals. The large air flow also fast cycle times ad eables it to be utilized for the etire Q-Series Series actuator rage. Iteral corrosio protectio: The sprig retur models have stadard a built i Breather fuctio. Durig the sprig stroke, the exhaust air from the ceter chamber (A-Port) is first fed to the sprig chamber (B-port) prevetig air from outside from beig sucked ito the sprig chamber. This reduces the possibility of iteral corrosio ad maximizes the actuators workig life. Peumatic optios Speed Cotrol The QC54 cotrol module ca be supplied with a Speed Cotrol optio. Oe throttle is required for Sprig Retur actuators ad up to two for Double Actig actuators. The speed cotrol throttle cotrols the air flow i ad out of a air chamber ad as such limits the speed of the Opeig ad Closig stroke simultaeously. Silecers ad vets The exhaust ports Ra ad Rb o the module are shipped from the factory with trasport protectio. The module ca be equipped with either silecers or vets. Maual Cotrol For commissioig, emergecy or maiteace purposes, the QC54 cotrol module ca be supplied with Maual Cotrol optios. These optios ca operate the actuator whe there is air pressure available, but o cotrol sigal or power supply. - For ormal operatio the module should be fitted with oe Maual Cotrol. - For Double Actig with a Fail-i-Last-Positio fuctio, two Maual Cotrol ca be fitted. This procedure will detect the actio type (Fail-Ope, Fail-Close or Fail i last positio) ad geerate a alert if there are cofiguratio issues. This process is doe automatically, by the module, however, the user must start it ad the uit must be wired ad powered. Digital commuicatio is ot required but power supply is ecessary (9V to 32V DC). The iitializatio process ca be started i oe of two ways: 1. Iitializatio usig the local buttos (see fig. 7). 2. Iitializatio usig a bus commad (see Referece maual QC54, DOC.RM.QC54.E) Idicatio LED's Three idicatio LED's for "Status", "Ope" ad "Closed" positio are available. The status LED idicates: - Iitializatio procedure ruig (blikig), - Successful iitializatio procedure (LED is o) or - No or failed iitializatio (flashig) Recogize Fuctio A additioal fuctio of the Status LED is the recogize fuctio. To recogzie a particular uit i the plat, the "Recogizig LED" fuctio ca be activated i the trasducer block. Whe this fuctio is activated, the Status LED will blik for 300 secods (5 miutes). Chagig Switch Poit Settig Readjustmet of switch poits Whe switch poit re-adjustmet is required but it is ot allowed that the actuator/valve uit cycles, the ew switch poit ca be set by pressig the correspodig "Ope" or "Closed" butto. These ca operate the pilot valve(s) iside the module ad as such operate the actuator, whe there is air pressure available, but o cotrol sigal or power supply. Notes: - Oe Local Maual Cotrol is required for ormal operatio of Double actig or Sprig retur actuators. - For Double actig actuator with a Fail-i-last positio fuctio, a secod Local Maual Cotrol ca be mouted. - These optios ca be ordered together with the Cotrol Module or as a kit to be mouted later. - For optio orderig codes, see page 7 Speed Cotrol Descriptio The QC54 cotrol module ca be supplied with a Speed Cotrol optio. Oe throttle is required for Sprig Retur actuators ad up to two for Double Actig actuators. The speed cotrol throttle cotrols the air flow i ad out of a air chamber ad as such limits the speed of the Opeig ad Closig stroke simultaeously. Note: - For Sprig Retur actuators with oe speed cotrol throttle, it is ot possible to set both the stroke cycle times to a equal time. - Four Double Actig actuators it is possible to mout two speed cotrol throttles. - The actual stroke cycle times deped o the actual load o the actuator durig the differet strokes. These process parameters ca give iformatio about commuicatio coditio, valve ad/or actuator uit. It eables to predict failures i advace ad makes maiteace easier to schedule. The followig diagostics are available for the QC54 cotrol module: 1 Timer parameters: 1 Ope ad Closed travel time 2 High ad low limits of Ope ad Closed travel time 3 Average travel times of last 30 strokes of Ope ad Closed travel. 4 High ad low limits of average Ope ad Closed travel time 2 Cycle Couters 1. Cotrol Module - Couts how may times the Cotrol Module cycles (read oly). 2. Peumatic Module - Couts how may times the Peumatic Module cycles. 3. Actuator - Couts how may times the actuator cycles. 4. Valve - Couts how may times the valve cycles. 3 Time I Positio 5 Various iteral electroic health tests. PlatWeb Alerts PlatWeb Alerts are alerts that have bee predefied ad categorized for the user. These device alerts ca be used to help troubleshoot the istrumet (see also page 4). There are three categories: - Failed alerts, A failed alert idicates a failure withi the device that will make the device, or some part of the device, ooperatioal. - Maiteace alerts A maiteace alert idicates that the device, or some part of the device, eeds maiteace soo. - Advisory alerts A advisory alert idicates a coditio that does ot have a direct impact o the device s primary fuctio. If the coditio is igored, the device will evetually fail. These alerts, whe eabled, ca participate i the DeltaV alarm iterface tools such as the alarm baer, alarm list, ad alarm summary.

12 Sheet No.: Rev: 1, Page 12 of 13 Namur NE-107 Alarms This sectio describes the parameter iteractio to implemet a QC54 Cotrol module to the NAMUR NE-107 requiremets as a parameter group i the Resource Block. There are four alarm categories defied as per the NE-107 specificatio, Failed, Off Specificatio, Maiteace, ad Check fuctio. Maiteace Although the output sigal is valid, the wear reserve is early exhausted or a fuctios will soo be restricted due to operatioal coditios e.g. build-up of deposits Off Specificatio Off-spec meas that the device is operatig outside its specified rage or a iteral diagostic idicates deviatios from measured or set values due to iteral problems i the device or process characteristics (e.g. bubble formatio i flow meterig or valve stickig). Check Fuctio Output sigal temporarily ivalid (e.g. froze) due to o-goig work o the device. Failed Output sigal ivalid due to malfuctio i the field device or its peripherals. Each of these categories share 32 coditios that ca be defied by the device maufacturer. Each coditio may be mapped or ot mapped for each category. If a coditio is mapped the it is idicated i the* ACTIVE parameter. If the coditio i the * ACTIVE parameter is ot masked by the correspodig bit i the *_MASK parameter the the coditio will be queued for broadcast usig the correspodig *ALM parameter at the associated priority idicated by *PRI parameter. The 4 categories are defied below.
