- Safety Informaton Warnng! Attenton: of njury by njecton! Arless unts develop extremely hgh sprayng pressures. 1 Never put your fngers, hands or any other parts of the body nto the spray jet! Never pont the spray gun at yourself, other persons or anmals. Never use the spray gun wthout safety guard. Do not treat a sprayng njury as a harmless cut. In case of njury to the skn through coatng materals or solvents, consult a doctor mmedately for quck and expert treatment. Inform the doctor about the coatng materal or solvent used. 2 The operatng nstructons state that the followng ponts must always be observed before startng up: 1. Faulty unts must not be used. 2. Secure WAGNER spray gun usng the safety catch on the trgger. 3. Ensure that the unt s properly earthed. The connecton must take place through a correctly earthed two-pole and earth socket outlet. 4. Check allowable operatng pressure of hgh-pressure hose and spray gun. 5. Check all connectons for leaks. 3 The nstructons regardng regular cleanng and mantenance of the unt must be strctly observed. Before any work s done on the unt or for every break n work the followng rules must be observed: 1. Release the pressure from spray gun and hose. 2. Secure the WAGNER spray gun usng the safety catch on the trgger. 3. Swtch off unt. Be safety-conscous! 6

- Safety Informaton General Safety Instructons Read all the nstructons. Non-observance of the nstructons below can cause electrc shock, fre and or serous personal njures. The term power tool used below covers both mans-operated power tools (wth mans lead) and accumulator-operated power tools (wthout mans lead). All local regulatons n force must be observed. Explanaton of symbols used Indcates an mmedate danger. Unless avoded, death or serous njures wll result. 3. Safety of Persons a) Be attentve. Pay attenton to what you are dong and work sensbly wth a power tool. Do not use the tool f you are tred or under the nfluence of drugs, alcohol or medcaton. Just a moment of nattentveness whle usng the tool can lead to serous njures. b) Wear personal safety equpment and always wear safety goggles. Wearng personal protectve equpment, such as dust mask, non-slp safety shoes, safety helm or ear protecton, dependng on the type of power tools, reduces the rsk of njury. Indcates tps for use and other partcularly useful nformaton. Exploson hazard. Attenton: of njury by njecton! c) Avod accdental startng-up. Ensure that the swtch s n the "OFF" poston before nsertng the plug nto the socket. Accdents can occur f you carry the power tool whle your fnger s on the swtch or f you connect the power tool to the power supply whch t s on. d) Remove settng tools or wrenches before swtchng on the power tool. A tool or wrench that s n a rotatng tool part can lead to njures. e) Do not overestmate your abltes. Ensure that you are standng securely and have your balance at all tmes. Ths ensures that you can control the tool better n unexpected stuatons. 1. Workplace a) Keep your workplace clean and tdy. Untdness and unlt workng areas can lead to accdents. b) Never use the tool n hazardous areas that contan flammable lquds, gases or dusts. Power tools generate sparks that can gnte the dust or vapors. c) Keep chldren and other persons away when usng the power tool. You can lose control of the tool f you are dstracted. 2. Electrcal Safety a) The tool plug must ft nto the socket. The plug may not be modfed n any form. Do not use adaptor plugs together wth protectve-earthed tools. Unmodfed plugs and sutable sockets reduce the rsk of an electrc shock. b) Avod physcal contact wth earthed surfaces such as ppes, heatng elements, stoves and refrgerators. The rsk through electrc shock ncreases f your body s earthed. c) Keep the equpment away from ran and mosture. The rsk of an electrc shock ncreases f water penetrates electrcal equpment. d) Do not msuse the mans lead by carryng the tool by the lead, hangng t from the lead or by pullng on the lead to remove the plug. Keep the lead away from heat, ol, sharp edges or movng tool parts. Damaged or twsted leads ncrease the rsk of an electrc shock. e) If you work outdoors, use only extenson leads that are approved for outdoor use. The use of an extenson lead that s sutable for outdoors reduces the rsk of an electrc shock. f) Wear sutable clothng. Do not wear wde clothng or jewelry. Keep your har, clothes and gloves away from movng parts. Loose clothng, jewelry or long har can be caught n movng parts. g) Ths applance s not ntended for use by persons (ncludng chldren) wth reduced physcal, sensory or mental capabltes, or lack of experence and knowledge, unless they have been gven supervson or nstructon concernng use of the applance by a person responsble for ther safety. Chldren should be supervsed to ensure that they do not play wth the applance. 4. Careful Handlng and Use of Power Tools a) Do not overload the tool. Use the power tool desgned for the work that you are dong. You work better and safer n the specfed performance range f you use the sutable power tool. b) Do not use power tools whose swtch s defectve. A power tool that cannot be swtched on or off s dangerous and has to be repared. c) Remove the plug from the socket before carryng out tool settngs, changng accessores or puttng the tool away. Ths precautonary measure prevents unntentonal startng of the tool. d) Store unused power tools so that they are naccessble to chldren. Do not let persons use the tool who are not famlar wth t or who have not read these nstructons. Power tools are dangerous when they are used by nexperenced persons. e) Take proper care of your tools. Check whether the movng parts functon trouble-free and do not jam, whether parts are broken or damaged so that the tool functon s mpared. Have damaged parts repared before usng the tool. Many accdents have ther orgn n power tools that have been 7

- Safety Informaton mantaned badly. f) Use the power tool, accessores, nsert tools, etc. n accordance wth these nstructons and n a fashon specfed for ths specal tool type. Take the workng condtons and the actvty to be carred out nto consderaton. The use of power tools for purposes other than the ntended ones can lead to dangerous stuatons. 5. Servce a) Have your tool repared only by qualfed specalst personnel and only wth orgnal spare parts. Ths ensures that the tool safety s mantaned. b) If the supply cord s damaged, t must be replaced by the manufacturer or t s servce agent or a smlarly qualfed person n order to avod a safety hazard. For secure handlng of Arless hgh-pressure sprayng unts the followng safety regulatons are to be observed: U Health protecton Cauton! Wear breathng equpment: Pant mst and solvent vapors are damagng to health. Always wear breathng equpment and only work n well ventlated rooms or usng supplementary ventlatng equpment. It s advsable to wear workng clothng, safty glasses, ear protecton and gloves U Flash pont Only use coatng materals wth a flash pont of 21 C or above wthout addtonal heatng. The flash pont s the lowest temperature at whch vapors develop from the coatng materal. These vapors are suffcent to form an nflammable mxture over the ar above the coatng materal. U U U Exploson protecton Do not use the unt n work places whch are covered to the exploson protecton regulatons. of exploson and fre through sources of flame durng sprayng work There may be no sources of flame such as, for example, open fres, smokng of cgarettes, cgars or tobacco ppes, sparks, glowng wres, hot surfaces, etc. n the vcnty. Electrostatc chargng (formaton of sparks or flame) Under certan crcumstances, electrostatc chargng can occur on the unt due to the rate of flow of the coatng materal when sprayng. On dschargng ths can result n the emergence of sparks or fre. It s therefore necessary that the unt s always earthed through the electrcal nstallaton. The connecton must take place through a correctly earthed two-pole-and-earth socket outlet. U Ventlaton Good natural or artfcal ventlaton must be ensured n order to avod the rsk of exploson or fre and damage to health durng spray work. U Secure devce and spray gun All hoses, fttngs, and flter parts must be secured before operatng spray pump. Unsecured parts can eject at great force or leak a hgh pressure flud stream causng severe njury. Always secure the spray gun when mountng or dsmountng the tp and n case of nterrupton to work. U Recol of spray gun In case of hgh operatng pressure, pullng the trgger can effect a recol force of up to 15 N. If you are not prepared for ths, your hand can be thrust backwards or your balance lost. Ths can lead to njury. Contnuous stress from ths recol can cause permanent damage to health. U Max. operatng pressure Max. permssble operatng pressure for spray gun, spray gun accessores and hgh-pressure hose may not fall short of the maxmum operatng pressure of 200 bar (20 MPa) stated on the unt. U Coatng substance Cauton aganst dangers that can arse from the sprayed substance and observe the text and nformaton on the contaners or the specfcatons gven by the substance manufacturer. Do not spray any lqud of unknown hazard potental. U Hgh-pressure hose (safety note) Electrostatc chargng of spray guns and the hgh-pressure hose s dscharged through the hgh-pressure hose. For ths reason the electrc resstance between the connectons of the hgh-pressure hose must be equal or lower than 197 kω/m (60 kω/ft.). For reasons of functon, safety and durablty, only use genune WAGNER hgh-pressure hoses and spray nozzles. For overvew see Spare parts lsts. U Connectng the devce A properly earthed socket outlet wth earthng contact must be used for connecton. The connecton must be equpped wth a resdual current protectve devce wth INF 30 ma. U Settng up the unt When workng ndoors: Vapors contanng solvents may not be allowed to buld up n the area of the devce. Settng up the unt on the sde a way from the sprayed object. A mnmum dstance of 5 m between the unt and spray gun s to be mantaned. 8

When workng outdoors: Vapors contanng solvents may not be allowed to blow toward the unt. Note the drecton of the wnd. Set the unt up n such a way that vapors contanng solvents do not reach the unt and buld up there. A mnmum dstance of 5 m between the unt and spray gun s to be mantaned. U Cleanng the unt of short crcut through penetratng water! Never spray down the unt wth hgh-pressure or hgh-pressure steam cleaners. Components and Descrpton The shppng carton for your pantng system contans the followng: Sucton tube and return tube (ncludng nlet flter and 3 clps) Spray tp assembly Basc unt 7.5 m, 6.35mm nternal dameter pressure hose Spray gun wth two flters (L-XXL; one n gun, one separate) Ol flask Instructon manual Fgure 1 - Controls and Functons (further, detaled descrptons of the ndvdual tems can be found n the relevant secton of the operatng nstructons) Item Component Descrpton A) ON / OFF Swtch...The ON/OFF swtch turns the power to the sprayer on and off (O=OFF, l=on). In order to ensure compatblty of the coatng substance wth the materals used to manufacture the devce, please contact Wagner Servce n cases of doubt.

Feld of applcaton Coatng of nteror walls as well as small and medum-szed objects outdoors (e.g. garden fences, garage doors, etc.). Assembly Fgure 2 - Attachng the Hose Make sure that the pump s swtched off (poston O) and the spray devce s dsconnected from the power supply. 1. Thread the hgh pressure hose to the spray hose port. Tghten wth an adjustable wrench. 2. Thread the other end of the hose to the spray gun. Grp the spray gun wth an adjustable wrench on the handle, and tghten the hose nut wth the other. The spray tp should not be attached untl after the sprayer and spray hose have been purged and prmed. Fgure 3 - Attachng the Sucton Set 1. Remove cap from nlet valve (a). Thread the sucton tube onto the nlet valve and tghten frmly by hand. Be sure that the threads are straght so that the fttng turns freely. 2. Push the return hose nto the return connecton pece. Before You Begn Preparaton of the Coatng Materal Usng Project Pro 117 nteror wall pants, varnshes and glazes can be appled by sprayng wthout dlutng them, or by dlutng them slghtly. Detaled nformaton s avalable n the techncal data sheet of the manufacturer ( Internet download). 1. Str the materal thoroughly and dlute t n the contaner as per the recommended dluton (an agtator s recommended for strrng). Thnnng recommendaton Sprayed materal Glazes undluted Wood preservatves contanng solvents or based on water, mordants, ols, dsnfecton agents, plant undluted protectve agents Pants contanng solvents and water-soluble pants, prmers, vehcle coatng pants, thck-flm glazes dlute by 5-10% Interor wall pant (dspersons and latex pant) dlute by 0-10% 2. Do a test spray (e.g. on to a pece of cardboard). If the pant sprays evenly, as shown n fg. 11 A, all the settng must be correct. If the pant looks strpy after sprayng, as shown n fg. 11 B, gradually ncrease the pressure, or dlute more n 5% steps. Fgure 4 - Lockng the Spray Gun Always lock the trgger off when attachng the spray tp or when the spray gun s not n use. 1. The gun s secured when the trgger lock s at a 90 angle (perpendcular) to the trgger n ether drecton. Fgure 5 - Pressure Relef Procedure Be sure to follow the Pressure Relef Procedure when shuttng the unt off for any purpose. Ths procedure s used to releve pressure from the spray hose. 1. Lock the spray gun off. Flp the ON/OFF swtch to the OFF poston. 2. Turn the PRIME/SPRAY knob to PRIME. 3. Unlock the spray gun and trgger spray gun nto the sde of the materal bucket. Lock the spray gun. Prmng Fgure 6 - Preparng to Prme 1. Spray a lttle ol out of the provded flask nto the marked openng (tp: tlt the devce back). Lght household ol can be substtuted f necessary. 2. Fully nsert the Quckflo valve to make sure the nlet ball s free. Fgure 7 - Prmng the Sprayer 1. Place a full contaner of sprayng materal underneath the sucton tube (a). Secure the return tube (b) nto a waste contaner. 2. Slde the PressureTrac to maxmum pressure (+). 3. Turn the PRIME/SPRAY knob to PRIME. 4. Plug n the sprayer and move the ON/OFF swtch to the ON (l) poston. The unt wll begn to draw materal up the sucton tube, nto the pump, and out the return tube. Let the unt cycle long enough to remove test flud from the pump, or untl spray materal s comng from the return tube. 5. Swtch the pump OFF (O). Remove the return tube from the waste contaner and place t n ts operatng poston above the contaner of sprayng materal. Use the metal clp to bnd the two hoses together. Fgure 8 - Prmng the Spray Hose 1. Unlock the spray gun and turn the PRIME/SPRAY knob to PRIME. The spray tp should not be attached to your spray gun when purgng your spray hose. 2. PULL the trgger and am the spray gun at the sde wall of a waste contaner. If usng ol-based materals, the spray gun must be grounded whle purgng (see warnng below). 10

Keep hands clear from flud stream. Ground the gun by holdng t aganst the edge of a metal contaner whle flushng. Falure to do so may lead to a statc electrc dscharge whch may cause a fre. 3. Whle pullng the trgger, swtch the pump ON (l), and turn the PRIME/SPRAY knob to Spray. Hold the trgger untl all ar, water, or solvent s purged from the spray hose and materal s flowng freely. If the PRIME/SPRAY knob s stll on SPRAY, there wll be hgh pressure n the hose and spray gun untl the PRIME/SPRAY knob s turned to PRIME. 4. Release trgger. Turn the prme/spray knob to PRIME. Turn the pump OFF (O). Trgger the gun nto the waste contaner to be sure that no pressure s left n the hose. Fgure 9 - Attachng the Spray Tp POSSIBLE INJECTION HAZARD. Do not spray wthout the tp guard n place. Never trgger the gun unless the tp s n ether the spray or the unclog poston. Always engage the gun trgger lock before removng, replacng or cleanng tp. 1. Lock the spray gun off. 2. Thread the tp guard onto the gun. When attachng the tp guard to the gun, algn the tp guard as shown n fgure 9 (a), then tghten by hand (b). Sprayng Fgure 10 - Sprayng Technque A) The key to a good pant job s an even coatng over the entre surface. Keep your arm movng at a constant speed and keep the spray gun at a constant dstance from the surface. The best sprayng dstance s 25 to 30 cm between the spray tp and the surface. B) Keep the spray gun at rght angles to the surface. Ths means movng your entre arm back and forth rather than just flexng your wrst. C) Keep the spray gun perpendcular to the surface, otherwse one end of the pattern wll be thcker than the other. D) Trgger gun after startng the stroke. Release the trgger before endng the stroke. The spray gun should be movng when the trgger s pulled and released. Overlap each stroke by about 30%. Ths wll ensure an even coatng. When fnshed sprayng, perform Pressure Relef Procedure. If you expect to be away from your spray project for more than 1 hour, follow the Short Term Cleanup procedure descrbed n the Cleanup secton of ths manual. Fgure 11 - Practce 1. Be sure that the pant hose s free of knks and clear of objects wth sharp cuttng edges. 2. Slde the PressureTrac to ts to ts lowest settng. 3. Turn the PRIME/SPRAY valve to SPRAY. 4. Slde the PressureTrac to ts hghest settng. The pant hose should stffen as materal begns to flow through t. 5. Unlock the spray gun. 6. Trgger the spray gun to bleed ar out of the hose. 7. When materal reaches the spray tp, spray a test area to check the spray pattern. 8. Use the lowest pressure settng necessary to get a good spray pattern (A). If the pressure s set too hgh, the spray pattern wll be too lght. If the pressure s set too low, talng wll appear or the pant wll spatter out n blobs rather than n a fne spray (B). Fgure 12 - Uncloggng the Spray Tp If the spray pattern becomes dstorted or stops completely whle the gun s trggered, follow these steps. Do not attempt to unclog or clean the tp wth your fnger. Hgh pressure flud can cause njecton njury. 1. Release the trgger and lock the gun off. Rotate the reversble tp arrow 180º so that the pont of the arrow s toward the rear of the gun (see fgure 12). Under pressure, the spray tp may be very dffcult to turn. Turn the PRIME/SPRAY knob to PRIME and trgger the gun. Ths wll releve pressure and the tp wll turn more easly. 2. Turn the prme/spray knob to spray. 3. Unlock the gun and squeeze the trgger, pontng the gun at a scrap pece of wood or cardboard. Ths allows pressure n the spray hose to blow out the obstructon. When the nozzle s clean, materal wll come out n a straght, hgh pressure stream. 4. Release the trgger and lock the gun off. Reverse the tp so the arrow ponts forward agan. Unlock the gun and resume sprayng. Cleanup If Do you are usng water-soluble materals, use warm suds to clean the spray devce. If you are usng solventbased spray, use a sutable solvent for cleanng, wth a flash pont of over 21 C. not use solvents for water-soluble materals, as the mxture wll turn nto a gel-type substance whch s dffcult to remove. Fgure 13 - Short Term Cleanup Only follow these nstructons when usng watersoluble materals. If you are usng solvent-based spray, follow the Cleanup and Long-Term Storage steps. A) Shutdown 1. Perform the Pressure Relef Procedure (see fgure 5) and unplug the sprayer. 2. Pour 1/2 cup water slowly on the top of the pant to prevent the pant from dryng. 11

3. Wrap the spray gun assembly n a damp cloth and place t n a plastc bag. Seal the bag shut. Place the sprayer n a safe place out of the sun for short-term storage. B) Startup 1. Remove the gun from the plastc bag. Str the water nto the pant. 2. Turn the PRIME/SPRAY knob to PRIME. 3. Plug sprayer n. 4. Turn the swtch to ON (I). 5. Turn the PRIME/SPRAY knob to SPRAY. Test the sprayer on a practce pece and begn sprayng. Fgure 14 - Flushng the System 1. Lock the gun and remove spray tp assembly. Submerge sucton set nto a bucket wth approprate cleanng soluton (a). 2. Place a waste contaner (b) next to the orgnal materal contaner (c). The contaners should be touchng. Am the spray gun nto the sde of the orgnal materal contaner (c) and hold the trgger. 3. Whle pullng the gun trgger, turn the pump ON (l), and turn the PRIME/ SPRAY knob to SPRAY to purge materal from the hose back nto the orgnal contaner. Keep holdng trgger through next steps. 4. When cleanng soluton flows from the spray gun, keep holdng the trgger and am the spray gun nto the sde of the waste contaner (ground gun wth a metal contaner f flushng wth flammable solvent). 5. Trgger the gun untl the flud flowng out of the gun s clear. You may need to dspose and obtan new cleanng soluton. 6. Turn the PRIME/SPRAY knob to PRIME and trgger gun to releve pressure. Fgure 15 - Cleanng the Spray Gun 1. Make sure the pump s swtched OFF (O). Make sure the PRIME/SPRAY knob s turned to PRIME. Unplug the sprayer. 2. Remove spray gun from the pant hose usng adjustable wrenches. 3. Unclp the trgger guard (a) from the flter housng (b) by pullng outward from the flter housng. Unscrew the flter housng. 4. Remove the flter (c) from the spray gun housng and clean wth the approprate cleanng soluton (warm suds for watersoluble materals, solvents wth a flash pont of over 21 C for solvent-based spray). 5. Remove spray tp (d) from spray guard assembly. Clean spray tp wth a soft-brstled brush and the approprate cleanng soluton. Be sure to remove and clean the washer (e) and saddle seat (f) located n the rear of the spray tp assembly. 6. Replace the cleaned flter, tapered end frst, nto the gun housng. The tapered end (g) of the flter must be loaded properly nto the gun. Improper assembly wll result n a plugged tp or no flow from the gun. 7. Install spray tp (d), saddle seat (f) and washer (e), and replace spray guard assembly. 8. Thread the spray gun back onto the pant hose. Tghten wth a wrench. Fgure 16 - Cleanng the Sucton Set 1. Lock the gun and turn the pump OFF (O). Turn the PRIME/ SPRAY knob to PRIME. 2. Remove the sucton hose from the nlet valve. Remove the return hose, by pushng the blue crclp rng up and pullng the hose down smultaneously. Coarsely clean the outsde of both hoses wth a sutable cleanng soluton. 3. Clean the thread of the nlet valve (a) wth a cloth. 4. Carefully remove the flter dsc (b) from the sucton flter usng plers, and clean both. 5. After cleanng the sucton unt screw the sucton hose back onto the nlet valve and replace the return hose n the return connecton pece. 6. Submerge the sucton hose and return tube nto a bucket of new cleanng soluton. 7. Turn the PRIME/SPRAY knob to PRIME. Turn the pump ON (l), and trgger the gun nto a waste contaner to releve pressure. 8. Let the pump crclulate cleanng soluton through the sucton set for 2-3 mnutes. Turn the pump OFF. Fgure 17 - Long-Term Storage 1. Fll a cup or another contaner wth a lttle separatng ol or a lght, common household ol. Hold the cup under the nlet valve. The valve openng must be completely n the ol bath. 2. Place a rag over the spray hose port, and turn the swtch ON (l). When the ol has been pumped from the cup, turn the pump OFF (O). 3. Fully nsert the Quckflo valve. 4. Wpe the entre unt, hose and gun wth a damp cloth to remove accumulated pant. Replace the hgh pressure hose to the pant hose port. Fgure 18 - Cleanng the Inlet Valve Cleanng or servcng the nlet valve may be requred f the unt has prmng problems. Prmng problems may be prevented by properly cleanng the sprayer and followng the long-term storage steps. 1. Remove the sucton hose and return tube. 2. Remove the nlet valve unt (a) from the basc unt wth an adjustable wrench. Vsually nspect the nsde and outsde of the nlet valve assembly. Clean any pant resdue wth the approprate cleanng soluton. 3. Replace nlet valve assembly by screwng t nto the sprayer. 12
