Standard ol mst elmnator Descrpton Characterstcs The ol mst el mnator s mounted at the exhaust of the rotary vane pump and separates ol droplets and vapours n the exhaust gases emtted by the ol sealed vacuum pumps. When the elmnator s mounted vertcally above the pump, the condensed ol s recovered by flowng back through the cartrdge nto the ol case, f the nlet pressure s less than 0.75 Torr for a suffcently long tme. 3 11.3. Assembly Two assembly possbltes exst, dependng on the pump locaton and npple accessblty. Case 1 : the ol mst elmnator s mounted on the exhaust port located vertcally on the pump. Proceed as follows: - Remove the vent valve 150 mounted n the exhaust port Assemble as shown n fgure 1 usng the connecton accessores provded wth the elmnator. f the vertcal poston of the pump does not permt drect nstallaton, an offset assembly usng the elbow fttng may be used to brng the exhaust axs to horzontal. Proceed as follows : - Unscrew the 4 nuts U, whle at the same tme manually pressng each end of the elmnator (to avod sudden release of the sprng), and remove the 4 screws Remove the upper npple ~ on the valve sprng sde. - nstall the elbow fttng n place of the straght npple and assemble usng the mountng screws. Case 2 : the ol mst elmnator s mounted on the exhaust port located horzontally on the pump. Proceed as follows : - Remove the vent valve 150 mounted n the pump exhaust port Remove the horzontal flange Reverse the postons of the npple 120 and the flange 140. Renstall screws Unscrew the 4 nuts U, whle at the same tme manually pressng each end of the elmnator (to avod sudden release of the sprng), and remove the 4 screws U. - Remove the lower npple ~ on the sde opposte the sprng. - nstall the elbow fttng n place of the straght npple and assemble usng the mountng screws. - Assemble as shown n fgure 1 usng the connecton accessores provded wth the elmnator. n both cases : - The ol mst elmnator can be connected far from the pump. - Use a sutable dameter of ppe between pump and ol mst elmnator. n all cases: - Connect the npple marked wth the " Pump..].. 11 label on the exhaust sde of the pump. f the ol mst elmnator s connected to a chmney or ventlatng duct, check to be sure the pressure loss n ths equpment does not exceed 375 Torr. Note: f necessary, you can order separately an offset elbow to obtan an horzontal pumpng lne.

4 11.4. Mantenance & Each tme the system s dsmantled, take all necessary precautons to ensure safety and protecton of personnel aganst possble toxcty, corroson and radoactvty of resdues. Dependng on the nature of the resdue, we recommend: o Purgng the system wth dry ntrogen before workng on t. o Wearng gloves, goggles and, f necessary, an oxygen mask. o Thorough ventlaton of the roam and dsassembly under a fume hood. o Recovery of resdue n approprate contaners. f necessary, have them destroyed by a competent organzaton. a) Cartrdge saturaton : f excessve fumes or droplets, or bursts of steam appear at elmnator outlet, the cartrdge s saturated. The tme taken to reach saturaton pont depends on the number of pumpng operatons, ther frequency, the volume of pumped gas and the knd of the ol used. When the cartrdge s saturated, replace as follows : b) Dsassembly (fgure 2) : - Detach the elmnator from the pump and dsassemble on a workbench. - Unscrew the 4 nuts ~, whle at the same tme manually pressng each end of the elmnator (to avod sudden release of the sprng), and remove the 4 screws ]1. - Remove successvely and n the followng order, the upper npple ~ (or elbow fttng ) and ts O -r ng seal Z, the sprng ~, the valve ~ equpped wth ts flat rng Q, the cartrdge ~ and the flat rng Q, then the lower body and ts O-rng. c) Cleanng : & Never clean the flter cartrdge: always nstall a new one. Elastomer seals Q and Z must always be replaced by new seals. After use n mneral ol, clean the components wth a mneral products based solvent such a AXAREl ll, CAREClEAN (2 1, PREMAClEAN (31 or NAPHTEOl (41 Proceed as follows: - Clean when cold or hot (max. 4SOq by dppng or usng a cloth, - Vacuum dry n a ventlated oven.

5 d) Reassembly: Applcatons not recommended - nsert the flat rng ~ n the base of the body 1- - nstall the cartrdge ~ so that t rests on the flat rng ~ n the body 1. - Assemble the new O-rng Z on the lower and upper npples. - Assemble the flat rng ~ on the valve ~ and nstall the unt on the cartrdge, w th the flat rng restng on the cartrdge. - Poston the sprng ~ on the valve ~. - Poston the body thus assembled 1 on the lower npple : the laher can be dentfed by the drecton of the arrow on the "Pump -1-" label. - Assemble the upper npple on the sprng ~ and assemble usng the mountng screws N, 14, ~. - Connect the elmnator to the pump exhaust port (see paragraph 11.3.). Use of an ol mst elmnator s not recommended n the followng cases: dryng, freezedryng, pumpng condensable vapours, mpregnaton wth polymerzable resns, and debubblng monomers. ll Flter cartrdges are flammable: do not use elmnators when pumpng flammable products such as oxygen or slane.
