1 INTRODUCTION BEFORE YOU BEGIN Before you begn, read and understand all nstructons before operatng your pressure washer. Ths manual explans how to use your hgh pressure spray equpment. Be sure everyone who operates, mantans or repars the pressure washer has read ths manual. Warnngs and precautons must be understood. 2 SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS Hgh pressure spray can cause serous njury. Ths product must be used ONLY by personnel that have been nstructed n the safe use of ths machne. Observe all warnngs when you operate, mantan and repar the pressure washer. Use ths equpment only n well ventlated areas and free of combustble materals, combustble fumes or dust. Falure to follow ths warnng may cause carbon monoxde buld up, fre or exploson, and possble njury or death. To prevent njury wear the followng protectve clothng: Gloves, Hard Hat, Mask, Work Boots, Ear Plugs, Safety Goggles. INJECTION HAZARD: Fluds under hgh pressure from spray or leaks can penetrate the skn and cause extremely serous njury, ncludng death or the need for amputaton. You must observe these precautons: NEVER pont the spray gun at people, plants or anmals. NEVER put your hand or fngers over the spray tp. NEVER try to stop or deflect leaks wth your hand or body. NEVER purchase and use chemcals or detergents that are toxc, flammable, or hgh n acdc/alkalne base, and always request a materal safety data sheet (MSDS) for the product you are purchasng. NEVER use a powder type detergent or chemcal that s not manufactured for pressure washer use;.e. dsh detergent, laundry soap. GENERAL WARNINGS Get emergency medcal treatment at once f any flud seems to penetrate your skn, even f the wound does not appear serous. tell the doctor exactly what flud was njected and gve hm the materal safety data sheet for the detergent or chemcal product used. Be sure that all system components and accessory tems are orgnal equpment or equvalent. Understand ALL the nformaton n ths secton before you begn to use the pressure washer. 2

3 SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS Be sure the machne s properly located for safe operaton. NEVER alter or modfy the pressure washer as personal njury or death could result to humans, plants, or anmals, and vods any warranty offered by the manufacturer. NEVER locate the equpment near combustble materals, combustble fumes, or dust, as personal njury or death could result from fre or exploson. NEVER spray flammable lquds, toxc chemcals (such as ncestcde or weed kller) as personal njury or death could result from fre, exploson, or posonng whle damagng the envronment. NEVER allow chldren or untraned adults to operate the machne. NEVER wear loose clothng and keep your body and clothng clear of movng parts when the machne s runnng. NEVER leave the pressure washer unattended once you have started t. If you must leave, follow complete shut down nstructons to prevent unauthorzed and untraned personnel from operatng the machne. NEVER move the machne by pullng the hose. NEVER actvate the gun wth no nozzle n the wand. Ths wll cause the O rng to become dslodged from the couplng and the unt wll not functon properly. NEVER put any type of trgger lock onto the gun. NEVER place hands on motor or pump when unt s runnng. Keep away from movng parts at all tmes. NEVER allow chldren or anmals around your workng area. ALWAYS face nozzle and wand to the ground when testng. NEVER exceed the pressure ratng of the unt s recommended pressure. NEVER change quck couple nozzles wth the nozzle under pressure and wthout the gun safety n the on or lock poston. NEVER clean the machne by usng ts own spray wand. NEVER run the machne wthout water. LOCATION WARNINGS The machne must be used at or near the workng area and always under traned operator supervson. The machne should be located as close as possble to the water supply. Locate the machne on a sold and level surface so that engne and pump crankcase ol lubrcates components properly. Avod areas where water can buld up n the workng area. Possble njury can occur caused by the surface becomng slppery from water buld up.

4 SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS LOCATION WARNINGS (contnued) Locate the machne n a well-ventlated area and away from flammable materals or fumes. Be sure ventlaton WARNINGS are observed. Keep pressure washer at least 18 away from flamable materals. Locate the machne so the operator has easy access to the pressure washer and ts controls. Locate the machne so that t s protected from external damage. To prevent damage and excessve hose wear, locate the pressure washer so that the hose does not cross traffc areas. GAS ENGINE PRECAUTIONS A fre or exploson can occur resultng n personal njury f the followng nstructons are not followed: 4 DO NOT fll gasolne tank whle engne s runnng. Allow engne to cool for two mnutes before refuelng. DO NOT operate the engne when an odor of gasolne s present, or other explosve condtons exst. IF GASOLINE IS SPILLED, move the machne away from the area of the spll and avod creatng any source of gnton untl the gasolne has evaporated. DO NOT store, spll, or use gasolne near an open flame, or devces such as a stove, furnace, water heater whch utlze a plot lght, or devces whch can create a spark. REFUEL OUTDOORS preferably, or n well-ventlated areas wth UNLEADED GAS ONLY. DO NOT operate engne wthout muffler. Operatng wthout a muffler, or wth a muffler that leaks because of rust or damage, can permt an ncreased exhaust nose level. Inspect muffler perodcally and replace f necessary. DO NOT use ths engne on any forest covered, brush covered or grass covered unmproved land unless a spark arrestor s attached to the muffler. DO NOT operate engne f ar cleaner or cover drectly over the carburetor ar ntake s removed. DO NOT choke the carburetor to stop the engne. DO NOT TAMPER WITH THE GOVERNOR SPRINGS, GOVERNOR LINKS OR OTHER PARTS WHICH MAY INCREASE THE GOVERNED ENGINE SPEED. DO NOT tamper wth the engne speed selected by the orgnal equpment manufacturer. CAUTION - DO NOT RUN AT EXCESSIVE SPEEDS. Operatng engne at excessve speeds ncreases the danger of personal njury.

5 SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS DO NOT TOUCH hot mufflers, cylnders or fns, as contact may cause burns. TO PREVENT HAND OR ARM INJURY, always pull starter chord rapdly to avod kckback. READ ENGINE OWNERS/OPERATORS MANUAL BEFORE USING OR ATTEMPTING TO SERVICE THIS MACHINE. PUMP PRECAUTIONS NEVER allow the pump to run for more than a 2 mnute perod wthout openng the gun. (Ths wll cause pump damage due to excessve water temperature and vod the warranty) NEVER let the pump run when the machne s not connected to the water supply. Ths causes cavtaton and vods the warranty. NEVER run acds or hard caustcs (such as lye) through the pump. NEVER use chemcals or agents whch are not compatble wth the Buna-N and PVC (polyvnyl) or neoprene coverng of the hose. (Always use ctrus based detergents.) NEVER use water wth a temperature over 140 degrees F. Check for leaks. Tghten connectons f necessary. Check for mssng O-rngs n the couplers. Be sure to know and understand all of the Safety Instructons before contnung.

7 START-UP PROCEDURE 1. Check engne ol (SAE 10-30W). Ol Level should read between the hash marks on dpstck. 2. Fll gas tank on engne wth unleaded gasolne only. 3. Attach hgh pressure hose to outlet M22 Quck- Connect fttng on frame. 4. Attach Garden hose to nlet garden hose connector on frame, and turn on water. 5. Pull trgger on gun to purge system of ar (untl a steady stream of water comes out the nozzle). 6. Slde throttle control left to FAST poston. 7. Push prmer bulb frmly 3 tmes. 8. Whle holdng gun trgger open wth one hand, pull starter cord on engne. If engne does not start after 3 pulls, push prmer bulb 3 more tmes, then pull starter cord agan. 14 BASIC OPERATIONS OPERATION PROCEDURES FOR ALL UNITS Be sure to follow the approprate Start-Up procedure for your pressure washer before followng the below Operaton steps. WARNING Do not allow unt to run for more than 2 mnutes wthout pullng the trgger. Lettng the unt dle for too long can cause the pump to burn out. If t s necessary to stop your work for more than 3 mnutes, turn off the engne (see Shut Down procedures). 1. Graspng the gun and lance wth Both Hands, hold spray nozzle 8-24 nches away from cleanng surface. 2. Pull trgger to spray water. NOZZLE USAGE 0 o Thn and powerful stream of water. Used for dffcult to remove stans. 15 o Uses a small angle of spray for focused cleanng. 40 o Largest angle of spray used for cleanng surfaces quckly. SOAPER Soaper nozzle s used n conjuncton wth a cleanng flud. Ths s the only nozzle that can be used wth cleanng soluton. 14

15 CHEMICAL INJECTOR CHEMICAL INJECTOR OPERATIONS The chemcal njector s used n conjuncton wth the Soaper Nozzle and a Cleanng Soluton. The PSI wll be much lower n ths applcaton. The soap wll only draw wth Hgh Flow and Low Pressure. 1. Attach soaper nozzle to the tp of the Lance. 2. Drop soap hose flter n detergent contaner. 3. Spray wth gun as normal. 15

16 SHUTTING DOWN 1. Follow the step on the rght that corresponds wth the unt that you are usng: 4 HP, 5 HP, 6.5 HP/hgher. Vertcal Drect Drve Slde Throttle Control (RIGHT) to STOP poston. GC Seres Drect Drve Slde Throttle Control (DOWN) to STOP poston. GX Seres Drect Drve Turn ON/OFF swtch to OFF. 2. Turn off Water Source. 3. Pull gun trgger to release water pressure from system. 4. Dsconnect garden hose from Inlet Garden Hose attachment on pump. 16 Your pressure washer s now Shut Down. See Wnterzng your Pressure Washer for storage nstructons. 5. Dsconnect hgh pressure hose from quck connecton on Outlet of pump.

17 WINTERIZING WINTERIZING YOUR PRESSURE WASHER Whenever your machne wll be subjected to freezng temperatures, severe damage could occur caused by freezng nsde components. To prevent costly repars, follow the steps below (Freeze damage s NOT covered by manufacturers warranty). 1. Be sure the Machne s OFF (See Shuttng Down ), water supply s dsconnected and pressure has been releved. 2. Obtan a one-gallon contaner of Nontoxc (RV) antfreeze. 3. Dsconnect your hgh pressure hose, gun, and wand. Attach a 4 ft. pece of garden hose to the nlet of the pressure washer. Usng a funnel, fll the garden hose wth RV antfreeze and hold n the ar above the pressure washer. Turn the engne ON/OFF swtch to the OFF/STOP poston. Pull the start cord untl the antfreeze s comng out the hgh pressure quck connect coupler (Approxmately 5-20 tmes). Dsconnect the 4 ft. pece of hose. 4. If possble, store the gun, wand, and hose ndoors where they won t freeze. Ensure any leftover water has been draned from the gun, wand and hose. Gas n the engne should be draned or use a fuel stablzer to prevent the fuel from gong bad. When refllng the unt later, make sure to use fresh gas and not gas that has sat over wnter. 5. To reuse pressure washer, smply reconnect to pressure system water supply, attach hgh pressure hose, turn water on and squeeze trgger allowng water to pass through system (do not start engne). Once water becomes clear, you are ready to operate your pressure washer. 17

18 TROUBLE SHOOTING POINTS TO CHECK IF A PROBLEM OCCURS 1. Are the engne and fuel swtches n the ON poston? 2. Check ol and gas levels on the engne. 3. If your unt has a sght glass, the pump ol needs to be checked and wll need to be replaced when needed. The ol for the pump s a 30W non-detergent mneral ol. Do not fll over halfway on the sght glass. If your pump does not have a sghtglass then the Pump Ol does not need to be replaced. There s 4.5 ounces of ol n the pump whch wll last the lfe of the pump. (AXD & SJV) 4. Is the water tap open? 5. Check the choke and throttle levers. 6. Is the correct nozzle n the lance? Is the nozzle plugged? 7. Only the black nozzle s for soapng at low pressure. 8. Is the water-nlet screen clogged? 9. Hold the gun trgger open whle pull startng the engne. 10. Check for O-Rngs n the lance and quck couplers. 11. Make sure the engne s turned off after each use. It should not be left runnng wthout use for longer than 2 mnutes as the pump can overheat. 12. Check throttle poston and ensure Ar Flter & Spark Plug s clean. 13. Vertcal Unts: Ensure Varable Nozzle s clcked back nto hgh pressure mode. 18 Pror to boxng and shppng, your unt has been tested to ensure qualty. As a result, trace amounts of gasolne may be present. The engne and pump are also flled to the requred levels.

19 MAINTENANCE BREAK IN PERIOD After the frst 50 hours of use or frst season, change pump and engne ol. GXD and VRX do not requre pump ol to be changed. CHECK PUMP AND ENGINE OIL BEFORE EVERY USE. Fuel Unleaded Gasolne Only Engne Ol SAE 10-30W Pump Ol 30W Non-Detergent Mneral Change Pump/Engne ol every 300 hours or as needed. CHANGE YOUR PUMP OIL Usng an allen key unthread the dran plug on the bottom of the pump. Refll va the vented cap on the top of the pump untl the ol level s halfway up the ste glass w/ 30W Non-Detergent Pump Ol *Unts wth a VRX or GXD Mantenance free pump do not requre the ol to be changed. If t must be changes the GXD pump takes 4.5oz of ol. CHANGE YOUR ENGINE OIL HONDA GC/GX ENGINE Loosen the dran plug to dran the ol nto an ol dran pan or contaner. Refll wth 10W30 motor ol va the fll plug/ol check dpstck. BRIGGS ENGINE Dran and fll ol va the engne ol dpstck. ENGINE MAINTENANCE a Vsually nspect the spark plug electrode and ar flter and replace as necessary. WATER INLET FILTER Spark Plug That Needs Replacng. New Spark Plug Vsually nspect before every use, clean any debrs and replace when damaged or lost. Do not operate wthout a flter. LEAKS If any leaks are present, nspect the O-rngs n the coupler and replace when damaged or lost.
