3 1. Introduction This manual contains important information on how to use the FUJIBULL Vibratory Plate Compactor properly and safely. Read through this manual BEFORE operating the machine. 2. Safety The below safety instructions must be followed to avoid any property damage, personal injury, or possible death. These machines must be operated by well-trained personnel, and for its intended purpose only. The owner and/or user of the machine must comply with the regulations of Labor Protection in the country. These machines must be operated on the ground where the stability is guaranteed. When working near the rim of the excavated trenches, use the machine properly so that the machine may not collapse or fall down. Keep the work area clean and free from obstacles. Keep any unauthorized personnel away from the machine during the operation. ALWAYS wear ear-protector, hard cap (helmet), dust mask, safety goggles, gloves, and steel toe capped shoes during the operation. Noise from the machine itself, as well as noise from the ground being compacted, may cause hearing difficulties or physical disorder such as loss of balance or consciousness disorder. WEAR EAR PROTECTOR DURING OPERATION Do not attempt to remove any cover or guard. Always check the condition of guards and covers before operation. Never leave the engine running unattended. DO NOT TOUCH HOT ENGINE. Refueling and oiling Precautions Fuel and oil are flammable. Handle it very carefully. Be sure to stop the engine before refueling. Do not overfill the fuel tank. If fuel is spilt, wipe it away carefully and wait until the fuel has dried before starting the engine. After refueling, make sure that the fuel cap is secured to prevent spillage. Keep the fuel and oil in proper container and keep them at a safe place. Exhaust Precaution Never inhale exhaust gasses. They contain Carbon Monoxide, a colorless, odorless and extremely dangerous gas which can cause unconsciousness or death. 1

4 Never operate the engine indoors or in poorly ventilated areas, such as tunnel, cave, etc. Operate the machine only at well-ventilated or open areas. Keep the exhaust pipe free of foreign objects. Fire Prevention Do not operate the machine while smoking or near an open flame. Keep the machine away from flammables and other hazardous materials. Set the engine switch to OFF position before transportation or maintenance. Close the fuel shut-off valve before transportation or storage 3. Application These machines are intended for the base preparation for concrete slabs, driveways, foundations, curbs, footings and asphalt parking lots. It can also be used for repair work on streets, highways, sidewalks and hot and cold asphalt compaction. 2

5 5. Check before Operation Check the engine in accordance with the Engine Operation Manual. Check the entire machine for any sign of damage or leakage of fuel or oil. DO NOT attempt to run the machine before such damage or leakage has been repaired or replaced. Check the Engine oil level before operation. Place the machine on the level ground and remove the Oil Gauge to see the oil level should be between the H and L position. Check the fuel level and refill if necessary. 6. Operating Instructions Starting the Engine Open the Fuel Cock at the fuel tank. Set the Engine Switch to ON position. Set the Throttle Lever halfway between H and L position. Wipe off any spilt fuel on the engine before starting. Use clean fuel as contaminated fuel may damage the fuel supply system. Check the condition of air filter/ element as excessive dirt/dust accumulation may cause erratic and unstable engine operation. If the air filter/element is contaminated, clean or replace them in accordance with the Engine Operation Manual. Close the Choke Lever. When the engine is warm, let the Choke Lever partially open. Hold the machine firmly with one hand, and pull the recoil starter with the other hand until you feel resistance. Then pull the recoil starter briskly to start the Engine. 3

NOTICE Please read through and follow the Engine Operation Manual. Operating the Machine After the Engine has warmed up, the machine is ready to operate. Move the Throttle Lever to H position quickly. Move the lever quickly. Slow setting may cause damage to the centrifugal clutch. Always set the Throttle Lever to the highest position during operation. Improper setting may cause irregular vibrating motion and damage to the bearings in the eccentric housing. The engine s maximum revolution has been set at the factory to produce optimum engine power. DO NOT alter this revolution setting. At the maximum engine revolution, the machine will move forward under its CAUTION ON OPERATION When operating these machines on slopes, severe engine damage may result from extended operation on slopes of 20 degrees or greater since oil within the engine cannot lubricate properly and cool internal working parts. Engine damage due to machine operation on slopes of 20 degrees or greater will void engine warranty. HINTS ON OPERATION During uphill compaction, it may be necessary to swing the handle over and pull the machine slightly. When operating the machine in clay or damp soil, it may occasionally be required to clean the bottom of the base plate. Mud accumulation on the base plate will slow the machine down and prevent efficient compaction. When operating the machine on asphalt surface, it is recommended that light oil or kerosene be applied to the bottom of the base plate to prevent adhesion and/or accumulation of asphalt. Operating the machine on fully compacted or hard surface will damage its bearings at the eccentric shafts, and greatly reduce the life span of the machine. 4

7 Stopping the Machine Move the throttle lever to L position, and let the engine run at idle for 1 to 2 minutes. Close the fuel cock. Turn the engine switch to OFF position. Be careful not to touch HOT engine parts (muffler, pipe) at this time. 7. Maintenance For the maintenance of Engine, refer to the Operation Manual for Engine. Check the tightness of every bolts and nuts at every 50 hours of operation. Re-tighten if necessary. Replace the oil in the Eccentric Housing after first 50 hours of operation. Afterward, replace the oil at every 300 hours of operation. Remove the Oil Plug at the Eccentric Housing and incline the machine to drain the old oil. Place the machine on the level position and supply new oil. DO NOT over fill of oil. Quantity: VPC45R = NOT APPLICABLE VPC65R,VPC85R,VPC95R, VPC85B =100cc Recommended Oil: SAE 10W30 8. Transportation Before transportation, confirm that the Fuel Cock is closed. It is recommended to consume all the fuel in the fuel line and the chamber of the carburetor by running the engine at idle while the Fuel Cock is closed. The engine will stop after all the fuel remained has been consumed. Then, set the engine switch to OFF position. Be sure to let the engine cool off before transportation. Place the machine in an upright position during the operation if at all possible. If the machine needs to be laid on the floor of the vehicle, lay the machine to the right (when viewed from the operator's position). Never let the carburetor of the engine faces downward, or the engine oil may get into the carburetor or air cleaner to cause starting difficulties. Tie the machine firmly to the vehicle during the transportation. Lifting the machine When loading and unloading the machine to and from the vehicle, lift the machine with extreme care. The machine is heavy, and must not be lifted single-handedly. Four lifting handles are provided at each corner of the Base Plate. Lift the machine by two people holding each pair of the lifting handles. Do not attempt to lift the machine by grabbing the Operation Handle. Before lifting the machine, check the condition of the Rubber Isolator. If there is 5

8 any sign of crack or wear, replace the Rubber Isolator before lifting the machine. Follow the applicable safety instruction for the use of hoist or lift. 9. Storage Make sure that the engine is completely cooled off. Wipe off any dirt or oil on the machine. Clean the base plate and wipe on a light coat of oil to prevent rust. Put the cover over the machine. For long-term storage, remove fuel from the fuel tank and also fuel line and camber of the carburetor. 6

9 10. Troubleshooting TROUBLE POSSIBLE CAUSES COUNTERMEASURES Engine won t start, or stops suddenly. (See the engine manual) Throttle Wire being stretched Replace the throttle wire Lack of Engine Power Refer to the Engine Manual Centrifugal Clutch is slipping Dismantle the clutch assembly, and clean the Shoe and Drum with proper solvent. Improper V-belt tension, or excessive wear of V-belt Adjust the V-belt tension, or replace the belt with new one.
