9 RTMR PRE-ASSEMBLED KITS Mnfuse Block Kt (wth cables) PDMKt001 Ths kt can supply fused power for up to output crcuts fed by 2 nput power leads connected to the rear studs of the block. Each nput stud supples power to 10 crcuts (1 sde). Ths kt ncludes the block & cover, 35 x assorted Mnfuses, x pre-termnated cables, 10 x cavty plugs, x butt connectors and 2 x mountng brackets. Mnfuse Block Kt (wth termnals) PDMKt004 Ths kt can supply fused power for up to output crcuts fed by 2 nput power leads connected to the rear studs of the block. 10 RTMR INTERNALLY BUSSED UNITS EXPLAINED Fuse ed RTMR Unts The followng RTMR unts feature an nternal fuse bus; , , & The purpose of a fuse bus s to feed power to all 10 fuses from a common nput stud on the undersde of the block. Ths reduces the number of termnals, cable seals, cavty plugs and wrng requred to assemble the unt. It s also a great tme saver. The only negatve of usng a common power bus s that you cannot power ndvdual fuses from alternate power sources eg. 5 fuses powered drectly from battery and 5 fuses powered from gnton power. RTMR wth nternal Fuse Bus RTMR wthout nternal Fuse Bus Fuse #1 Fuse #1 Internal Fuse Bar Fuse #2 Fuse #2 Fuse #3 etc. Fuse #3 etc. Fuse As you can see n these llustratons, the RTMR unt wth no nternal fuse bus requres an nput power cable for every fuse, whereas the RTMR unt wth an nternal fuse bus only requres 1 power nput cable. ed RTMR Unts The followng RTMR unts feature an nternal relay bus; , & The purpose of ths bus s to provde a common power or ground crcut to relay col pn 86. There s a common msconcepton that relay pn 30 (common power) s connected to the relay bus. Ths s NOT the case. The reason why s that power to relay pn 30 should be suppled from a fuse to ensure that the accessory s fuse protected. So relay pn 30 should be connected to a fuse on the RTMR usng a jumper cable. Please refer to pages 11 & 12 whch contan sample wrng dagrams on how to wre a relay that s connected to an nternal relay bus. Dependng on how you wsh to swtch the relays, the relay buss stud can be connected to ether postve or ground. However, f the relay s dode protected, t can only be used n one wrng confguraton. When a relay s dode protected, you must connect the postve voltage to the correct termnal of the relay col as llustrated n the dagram. Example Overvew. In ths smple example we are swtchng lghts on/off usng a dash mounted lght swtch. The crcut s fuse protected (fuse #1) and power to the lghts s swtched by a normally open relay (relay #1). How t Works. When we swtch the lghts ON at the dash, power flows from the RELAY BUSS STUD nto relay col (pn 86) and out relay col (pn 85) to GROUND va the lghts swtch on our dash. Powerng the relay col swtches power fed by fuse #1 through a jumper cable to relay pn 30 to flow out relay pn 87 to the lghts. Notes. Fuses and relays can be wred n any crcut confguraton you lke. The ncludes one nternal buss for fuses and one nternal buss for relays. 13 RTMR (USING A FLASHER RELAY) mann Usng Flasher s n the RTMR. Flasher relays are typcally used to create the on/off flashng effect for turn sgnals and hazard lghts. These relays can easly be nstalled n the RTMR. Only one flasher relay s requred to create both a turn sgnal & hazard lght crcut. There are however, a number of dfferent ways a flasher relay can be wred. Regardless of the method you choose, t s recommended you do NOT use an RTMR that features nternal relay bussng. The flasher relay can be nstalled n 2 dfferent orentatons, so please be mndful of ths when desgnng your nstallaton or replacng the relay. Choosng whch RTMR to use for the flasher crcut. It s recommended you use 2 fuses for your flasher crcut. The frst fuse s used to protect the turn sgnal crcut (whch powers the turn sgnal lghts on one sde of the vehcle). The second fuse s used to protect the hazard lght crcut (whch powers the turn sgnal lghts on both sdes of the vehcle smultaneously). In most modern vehcles, the hazard lghts wll operate even f the gnton s OFF, however the turn sgnals wll only operate when the gnton s swtched ON. To acheve ths functonalty, we recommend you use the RTMR wth no nternal bussng. However f you do not need ths exact functonalty, then you can also use the RTMR wth nternal fuse bussng. Choosng whch flasher to use. Only flashers that feature ISO280 termnals can be used n the RTMR. We offer a range of flashers to sut the RTMR. When selectng the flasher, you need to consder the followng; 1. Is the flasher powerng LED turn sgnal lamps or conventonal lamps? 2. Do you prefer a flasher wth 3 or 4 termnals? 3. How many lamps wll the flasher be operatng?
