For a customer who cotrols the precisio feed cotrol of the puchig kife i a idex puchig machie with a SMCI47-S-2 ad Naopro, the solutio should be automated so that a PLC itegrated i the lie ca move to the idividual puchig positios. The teach-i for a ew order should cotiue to be carried out o a laptop, although the fuctio of the iputs ad outputs has bee programmed i the SMCI47-S with NaoJ so that the program could be very simply cofigured o the superordiate PLC. Idex puchig requires the possibility to move to up to 31 idividual idex positios, each with a separately adjustable legth. These positios are saved by the machie setter i idividual positioig records of the cotrollers via Naopro. The precisio feed cotrol of the puch is cotrolled by the PLC over five digital iputs of the SMCI47-S ad the referece switch is coected to the sixth iput of the cotroller: INPUT 1- Emergecy off 2- Next positio 3- Start referece ru 4- Move back to last positio 5- Reset to target positio 1 6- Referece switch After switchig o the machie, the PLC uses Iput 3 to first carry out a referece travel to the referece switch coected to Iput 6. The machie is the moved to the ext puchig positio by a sigal o Iput 2. If the operator otices that the puchig is uclea, the machie ca be moved back oe positio each time by Iput 4 ad the puchig repeated. If all idexes of a book are puched, the couter is set back to the first idex positio agai by Iput 5. If the operator presses the emergecy stop butto o the machie, the motor is brought to a cotrolled stop by Iput 1. Safeguarded agaist scrap by ecoder moitorig A AP8918M6404-E was selected as the motor i protectio class IP65 that is ot adversely affected by the dust that occurs durig the puchig process. The ecoder itegrated i the motor is moitored by the SMCI47-S ad esures that the cotroller registers a error if there is ay mechaical stiffess or blockage, for example, to prevet the idex from beig brought to the wrog positio. I compariso to a solutio with exteral cotroller, a large part of the cablig expese is saved here as a miimum of just the power supply ad the fieldbus iterface still eed to be wired. The possibility of coectig further sesors ad actuators to the additioal iputs ad outputs of the motor makes a decetralized automatio solutio more coveiet. Iterpolated Mode ow also makes it possible to drive Naotec stepper motor cotrols or Plug & Drive Motors directly via path cotrols with CANOpe iterface i accordace with the DSP402 stadard. This meas a ready-to-use driver is available from 3S-Smart Software Solutios GmbH for the CoDeSys V3 SoftMotio soft PLC, for example, which makes the cotroller easy to itegrate. For the productio of our IP-protected motors, sealat has to be applied to the lid. Due to the large umber of variatios that deped o the size of the motor or customer-specific versios, the applied sealig cotour must be easy to chage i productio. To automate this process, we have used our ow motors i cojuctio with CoDeSys: Two Plug & Drive PD4-N5918 motors move the dosig head oto the track prescribed by the soft PLC via toothed belt axes. The simple importig of cotours from our CAD system meas the productio staff ca produce ew sealig cotours without the eed for PLC programmig kowledge. Itegratio of the Naotec positioig cotrols i CoDeSys After istallatio of the soft PLC, i our case o a idustrial PC, the library supplied for the Naotec CANope drives is istalled first. The two motors ca the simply be added as devices ad cofigured over the CAN bus (left figure) usig the EDS (Electroic Datasheet) of the Plug & Drive motors. Our ext geeratio of motor cotrollers: N10 with NaoIP Based o our curret geeratio of cotrols, but with eve faster hardware ad a ew software cocept, the N10 is the first cotroller that is targeted etirely at the Etheret ad fieldbus operatio. Istead of parameterizatio via Widows software, we have created NaoIP a browser-based iterface that makes the parameterizatio idepedet of the platform ad ca be simply adapted to his applicatio by the customer himself. The speed of NaoJ o the N10 has bee greatly icreased so that the reactio time to time-critical sigals from iputs is less tha 2 ms. The PDO Mappig ad SDOs of the cotroller ca be cofigured directly via CoDeSys (middle figure). CoDeSys is cofigured to the extet that the Plug & Drive motors ca be accessed per CAN. DXF files ca ow be imported via the CNC meu of SoftMotio (right figure). Importig ad ruig through cotours After importig the movig curve, a CNC program is automatically geerated. Also the movig curve ca still be modified later, however, before it is coverted ito Gcode by CoDeSys. After creatio of the Gcode program, the simple user iterface for the machie operator, that rus through the loaded cotour at the sigle press of a butto after the referece ru, ca be started. The the soft PLC oly seds idividual target positios of the cotour to be moved through to the two Plug & Drive motors. Iterpolatio of the curve lyig betwee the idividual poits ad the complete attitude ad positio cotrol is take over by the motor itself i closed loop mode (see box below). Siusoidal commutatio with ecoder durig operatio See it o the PLC I cotrast to covetioal stepper motor positioig cotrols where oly the motor is actuated or the positio adjusted via the ecoder, siusoidal commutatio cotrols the stator magetic field via the rotary ecoder as i a servomotor. I this mode the stepper motor behaves just like a high-pole servomotor, i.e. the covetioal stepper motor oises ad resoaces disappear; up to its maximum torque the motor ca o loger lose steps. This regulatio always adjusts the level of the curret to the torque curretly required so that curret cosumptio ad heat geeratio are cosiderably reduced compared with a covetioal stepper motor whe the maximum torque is ot permaetly required. Especially at speeds up to 1500 rpm or torques up to 10 Nm, the siusoidal commutated stepper motor presets a ecoomic alterative to covetioal servosystems because, i cotrast to these, a direct drive without gears is ofte possible. 6 7

5 BLDC motors Motors for harsh ambiet coditios - stepper motors i protectio class IP65 The latest versio of Naopro ad the associated firmware for our motor cotroller with dspdrive also supports the cotrol of BLDC motors, both via Hall sesors as well as via a ecoder. Eve if the motors are oly cotrolled with Hall sesors, o simple block commutatio is used but the widigs are siusoidally commutated through iterpolatio of the Hall sigals. Cofiguratio of the motor is carried out just as simply as already for the cotrol of a stepper motor. After selectio of the motor type, the costat curret ad the peak curret ca be set. I additio, the cotroller eve offers the possibility of limitig the peak curret over I2t.
