3 A Quick Start Guide 1. Recrd the infrmatin abut the unit. (Sectin 2.1) 2. Set the device s Mdbus RTU serial settings (i.e. baud rate, parity, stp bits) and Mdbus Nde-ID fr each f the devices that will be cnnected t PrtNde FPC-N34 r FPC-N35. (Sectin 2.3) 3. PrtNde FPC-N34 units: Select the Field Prtcl (BACnet MS/TP, BACnet/IP, Mdbus TCP/IP r Metasys N2) n the S Bank Dip Switches. (Sectin 2.4.1) 4. Enable the PrtNde Aut Discvery mde n Dip Switch Bank S. (Sectin 2.4.2) 5. BACnet MS/TP (FPC-N34): Set the MAC Address n DIP Switch Bank A. (Sectin 2.5.1) 6. BACnet MS/TP r BACnet IP (FPC-N34): Set the BACnet Device Instance. (Sectin 2.5.2) 7. Once Aut-Discvery is cmplete turn OFF the S3 DIP Switch t save the cnfiguratin settings. (Sectin 3.5.1) 13. BACnet/IP r Mdbus TCP/IP (FPC-N34): Use the PrtNde s embedded tl which is accessed with a brwser, referred t in this manual as the Web Cnfiguratr, t change the IP address. N changes t the cnfiguratin file are necessary. (Sectin 4) 14. LnWrks (FPC-N35): The PrtNde must be cmmissined n the LnWrks Netwrk. This needs t be dne by the LnWrks administratr using a LnWrks Cmmissining tl. (Sectin 7) Page 3 f 49

7 1 INTRODUCTION 1.1 PrtNde Gateway PrtNde is an external, high perfrmance Building Autmatin multi-prtcl gateway that is precnfigured t Aut-Discver any f the Harsc Industrial Pattersn-Kelley s prducts (hereafter called device ) cnnected t the PrtNde and autmatically cnfigures them fr BACnet 1 MS/TP, BACnet/IP, Metasys 2 N2 by JCI, Mdbus TCP/IP r LnWrks 3. It is nt necessary t dwnlad any cnfiguratin files t supprt the required applicatins. 8 2 BACNET/LONWORKS SETUP FOR PROTOCESSOR PROTONODE FPC- N34/FPC-N Recrd Identificatin Data Each PrtNde has a unique part number lcated n the side r the back f the unit. This number shuld be recrded, as it may be required fr technical supprt. 9 2.3 Cnfiguring Device Cmmunicatins Set Mdbus COM setting n all f the Devices cnnected t the PrtNde All f the Serial devices cnnected t PrtNde MUST have the same Baud Rate, Data Bits, Stp Bits, and Parity settings. Figure 4 specifies the device serial prt settings required t cmmunicate with the PrtNde. Set the Mdbus COM settings n the devices nw. When mixing devices, the selected baud rates are required t match the slwest device (ENVI=9600). When there are n ENVI units present, the baud rate culd be set faster (LOVE end NURO supprt and 38400). The PrtNde s default settings are 9600 / Nne / 8 /1 Ability t change the PrtNde s Device COM settings are ffered later in Sectin The Selected device COM settings need t be dcumented. The Mdbus Nde-ID s need t be uniquely assigned between 1 and 255. The Mdbus Nde-ID that is assigned fr each device needs t be dcumented. The Mdbus Nde-ID s assigned are used fr designating the Device Instance fr BACnet/IP and BACnet MS/TP (Sectin 2.5.2) The Metasys N2 and Mdbus TCP/IP Nde-ID will be set t same value as the Nde-ID f the Mdbus RTU device. 4 Adding ptin fr 1 stp bit; Q1 2015? 10 2.4 Selecting the Desired Field Prtcl and Enabling Aut-Discvery Selecting Desired Field Prtcl PrtNde FPC-N34 units use the S bank f DIP switches (S0 S2) t select the Field Prtcl. See the table in figure 4 fr the switch settings t select BACnet MS/TP, BACnet/IP, Mdbus TCP/IP, r Metasys N2. The OFF psitin is when the DIP switches are set clsest t the utside f the bx. PrtNde FPC-N35 units d nt use the S bank DIP switches (S0 S2) t select a Field Prtcl. On PrtNde FPC-N35 units, these switches are disabled; the Field Prtcl is always LnWrks. 11 2.4.2 Enabling Aut-Discvery NOTE: If Mdbus TCP/IP was selected in Sectin fr the Field/BMS prtcl, skip this sectin. Aut-Discvery is NOT used fr Mdbus TCP/IP. The S3 DIP switch is used t bth enable Aut-Discvery f knwn devices attached t the PrtNde, and t save the recently discvered cnfiguratin. See the table in Figure 6 fr the switch setting t enable Aut-Discvery. If the PrtNde is being installed fr the first time, set S3 t the ON psitin t enable Aut-Discvery. The ON psitin is when the DIP switches are set clsest t the inside f the bx. 12 2.5 BMS Netwrk Settings: MAC Address, Device Instance and Baud Rate BACnet MS/TP (FPC-N34): Setting the MAC Address fr BMS Netwrk Only 1 MAC address is set fr PrtNde regardless f hw many devices are cnnected t PrtNde. Set the BACnet MS/TP MAC addresses f the PrtNde t a value between 1 t 127 (MAC Master Addresses); this is s that the BMS Frnt End can find the PrtNde via BACnet aut discvery. Nte: Never set a BACnet MS/TP MAC Address frm 128 t 255. Addresses frm 128 t 255 are Slave Addresses and can nt be discvered by BMS Frnt Ends that supprt aut discvery f BACnet MS/TP devices. Set A bank DIP switches A0 A7 t assign a MAC Address t the PrtNde fr BACnet MS/TP. Please refer t Appendix C.1 fr the cmplete range f MAC Addresses and DIP switch settings. 13 2.5.2 BACnet MS/TP and BACnet/IP (FPC-N34): Setting the Device Instance The BACnet Device Instances will be calculated by adding the Nde_Offset (default value is 50,000) t the device s Mdbus Nde ID (that was assigned in Sectin 2.2). The BACnet Device Instance can range frm 1 t 4,194,303. T assign specific Device Instance values, change the Nde_Offset value. (Sectin ) Fr example: Nde_Offset value (default) = 50,000 Device 1 has a Mdbus Nde-ID f 1 Device 2 has a Mdbus Nde-ID f 22 Device 3 has a Mdbus Nde-ID f 33 Given that: Device Instance = Nde_Offset + Mdbus Nde_ID Device Instance, Device 1 = 50, = 50,001 Device Instance, Device 2 = 50, = 50,022 Device Instance, Device 3 = 50, = 50, BACnet MS/TP r BACnet/IP: Assigning Specific Device Instances With the default Nde_Offset value f 50,000 the Device Instances values generated will be within the range f 50,001 t 50,127. The values allwed fr a BACnet Device Instance can range frm 1 t 4,194,303. T assign a specific Device Instance (r range), change the Nde_Offset value. Methds fr changing the Nde_Offset value are prvided in Sectin 4.2 This step cannt be perfrmed until after the unit is cnnected and pwered Metasys N2 r Mdbus TCP/IP (FPC-N34): Setting the Nde-ID The Mdbus RTU Nde-ID s assigned t the devices attached t the PrtNde in Sectin 2.2 will be the Metasys N2 r Mdbus TCP/IP Nde_ID s t the field prtcls. 14 2.5.4 BACnet MS/TP (FPC-N34): Setting the Baud Rate fr BMS Netwrk B bank DIP switches B0 B3 can be used t set the Field baud rate f the PrtNde t match the baud rate required by the Building Management System fr BACnet MS/TP. The baud rate n PrtNde fr Metasys N2 is set fr B bank DIP switches B0 B3 are disabled fr Metasys N2 n PrtNde FPC-N34. B bank DIP switches B0 B3 are disabled n PrtNde FPC-N35 (FPC-N35 LnWrks). 16 3.2 Device Cnnectins t PrtNde PrtNde 6 Pin Phenix cnnectr fr RS-485 Devices The 6 pin Phenix cnnectr is the same fr PrtNde FPC-N34 (BACnet) and FPC-N35 (LnWrks). Pins 1 thrugh 3 are fr Mdbus RS-485 devices. The RS-485 GND (Pin 3) is nt typically cnnected. Pins 4 thrugh 6 are fr pwer. 17 3.2.4 Biasing the Mdbus RS-485 Device Netwrk An RS-485 netwrk with mre than ne device needs t have biasing t ensure prper cmmunicatin. The biasing nly needs t be dne n ne device. Nne f the ENVI s supprt biasing. The PrtNde is required t bias the RS-485 netwrk. The PrtNde has 510 Ohm resistrs that can be used t set the biasing. The PrtNde s default psitins frm the factry fr the Biasing jumpers are OFF. The OFF psitin is when the 2 RED biasing jumpers straddle the 4 pins clsest t the utside f the bard f the PrtNde. See Figure 12. Only turn biasing ON: IF the BMS cannt see mre than ne device cnnected t the PrtNde AND yu have checked all the settings (Mdbus COM settings, wiring, and DIP switches). T turn biasing ON, mve the 2 RED biasing jumpers t straddle the 4 pins clsest t the inside f the bard f the PrtNde. 18 3.2.5 End f Line Terminatin Switch fr the Mdbus RS-485 Device Netwrk On lng RS-485 cabling runs, the RS-485 trunk must be prperly terminated at each end. The PrtNde has an End Of Line (EOL) blue jumper. The default setting fr this Blue EOL switch is OFF with the jumper straddling the pins clsest t the inside f the bard f the PrtNde. On shrt cabling runs the EOL switch des nt t need t be turned ON. If the PrtNde is placed at ne f the ends f the trunk, set the blue EOL jumper t the ON psitin straddling the pins clsest t the utside f the bard f the PrtNde. Always leave the single Red Jumper in the A psitin (default factry setting). 19 + Harsc Pattersn Kelley s PrtNde Startup Guide 3.3 BACnet MS/TP r Metasys N2 (FPC-N34): Wiring Field Prt t RS-485 BMS Netwrk Cnnect the BACnet MS/TP r Metasys N2 RS-485 netwrk wires t the 3-pin RS-485 cnnectr n PrtNde FPC-N34 as shwn belw in Figure 14. The RS-485 GND (Pin 3) is nt typically cnnected. See Sectin 5 fr infrmatin n cnnecting t BACnet/IP netwrk. If the PrtNde is the last device n the BACnet MS/TP r Metasys N2 trunk, then the End-Of-Line Terminatin Switch needs t be enabled (Figure 15). The default setting frm the factry is OFF (switch psitin = right side). T enable the EOL Terminatin, turn the EOL switch ON (switch psitin = left side). 29 8 CAS BACNET EXPLORER FOR VALIDATING PROTONODE IN THE FIELD PrtCessr has arranged a cmplementary 2 week fully functinal cpy f CAS BACnet Explrer (thrugh Chipkin Autmatin) that can be used t validate BACnet MS/TP and/r BACnet/IP cmmunicatins f PrtNde in the field withut having t have the BMS Integratr n site. A Serial r USB t RS-485 cnverter is needed t test BACnet MS/TP. 8.1 Dwnlading the CAS Explrer and Requesting an Activatin Key T request the cmplementary BACnet CAS key, g t and fill in all the infrmatin. Enter Vendr Cde Harsc12. Once cmpleted, the address that was submitted will be registered. The SYS ERR LED will g n slid 15 secnds after pwer up. It will turn ff after 5 secnds. A steady red light will indicate there is a system errr n PrtNde. If this ccurs, immediately reprt the related system errr shwn in the errr screen f the GUI interface t FieldServer Technlgies fr evaluatin. The RX LED will flash when a message is received n the hst prt. The TX LED will flash when a message is sent n the hst prt.
