7 1 INTRODUCTION 1.1 PrtNde Gateway PrtNde is an external, high perfrmance Building Autmatin multi-prtcl gateway that is precnfigured t autmatically cmmunicate between any f Weil-McLain s prducts (hereafter called device ) t varius building autmatin prtcls. These prtcls include BACnet 1MS/TP, BACnet/IP, Metasys 2 N2 by JCI, Mdbus TCP/IP, and LnWrks 3. It is nt necessary t dwnlad any cnfiguratin files t supprt the required applicatins. PrtNde is pre-laded with tested Prfiles/Cnfiguratins fr the supprted devices. The We use 2 methds t dynamically cnfigure the PrtNde t supprt the devices with the selected prtcl. Aut-Discvery: Supprted RS-485 devices can be autmatically detected and identified fr additin t the PrtNde s cnfiguratin. (Sectin 2) Web Cnfiguratr: Fr RS-485 devices that are nt supprted by Aut-Discvery, use the embedded tl which is accessed with a brwser, referred t in this manual as the Web Cnfiguratr. Select the device(s) frm a drp-dwn list f knwn prfiles and assign a Mdbus Nde-ID. Then the PrtNde autmatically builds the cnfiguratin t supprt the device(s) with the desired prtcl. 1 BACnet is a registered trademark f ASHRAE 2 Metasys is a registered trademark f Jhnsn Cntrls Inc. 4 LnWrks is a registered trademark f Echeln Crpratin Page 7 f 65

10 2.5 Selecting the Desired Field Prtcl and Enabling Aut-Discvery Selecting Desired Field Prtcl PrtNde FPC-N34 units use the S bank f DIP switches (S0 S2) t select the Field Prtcl. See the table in figure 4 fr the switch settings t select BACnet MS/TP, BACnet/IP, Mdbus TCP/IP, r Metasys N2. The OFF psitin is when the DIP switches are set clsest t the utside f the bx. PrtNde FPC-N35 units d nt use the S bank DIP switches (S0 S2) t select a Field Prtcl. On PrtNde FPC-N35 units, these switches are disabled; the Field Prtcl is always LnWrks. 12 2.6 BMS Netwrk Settings: MAC Address, Device Instance and Baud Rate BACnet MS/TP (FPC-N34): Setting the MAC Address fr BMS Netwrk Only 1 MAC address is set fr PrtNde regardless f hw many devices are cnnected t PrtNde. Set the BACnet MS/TP MAC addresses f the PrtNde t a value between 1 t 127 (MAC Master Addresses); this is s that the BMS Frnt End can find the PrtNde via BACnet aut discvery. Nte: Never set a BACnet MS/TP MAC Address frm 128 t 255. Addresses frm 128 t 255 are Slave Addresses and can nt be discvered by BMS Frnt Ends that supprt aut discvery f BACnet MS/TP devices. Set A bank DIP switches A0 A7 t assign a MAC Address t the PrtNde fr BACnet MS/TP. Please refer t Appendix C.1 fr the cmplete range f MAC Addresses and DIP switch settings. 13 2.6.2 BACnet MS/TP and BACnet/IP (FPC-N34): Setting the Device Instance The BACnet Device Instances will be calculated by adding the Nde_Offset (default value is 50,000) t the device s Mdbus Nde ID (that was assigned in Sectin 2.2). The BACnet Device Instance can range frm 1 t 4,194,303. T assign specific Device Instance values, change the Nde_Offset value. (Sectin ) Fr example: Nde_Offset value (default) = 50,000 Device 1 has a Mdbus Nde-ID f 1 Device 2 has a Mdbus Nde-ID f 22 Device 3 has a Mdbus Nde-ID f 33 Given that: Device Instance = Nde_Offset + Mdbus Nde_ID Device Instance, Device 1 = 50, = 50,001 Device Instance, Device 2 = 50, = 50,022 Device Instance, Device 3 = 50, = 50, BACnet MS/TP r BACnet/IP: Assigning Specific Device Instances With the default Nde_Offset value f 50,000 the Device Instances values generated will be within the range f 50,001 t 50,127. The values allwed fr a BACnet Device Instance can range frm 1 t 4,194,303. T assign a specific Device Instance (r range), change the Nde_Offset value. Methds fr changing the Nde_Offset value are prvided in Sectin 4.2 This step cannt be perfrmed until after the unit is cnnected and pwered Metasys N2 r Mdbus TCP/IP (FPC-N34): Setting the Nde-ID The Mdbus RTU Nde-ID s assigned t the devices attached t the PrtNde in Sectin 2.2 will be the Metasy N2 and Mdbus TCP/IP Nde_ID s fr the field prtcls. Metasys N2 and Mdbus TCP/IP Nde-ID Addressing: Metasys N2 and Mdbus TCP/IP Nde-ID s range frm Page 13 f 65

This will present a drp-dwn bx underneath the Current Prfile clumn that lists all the available prfiles (Figure 21). Fr every device that is added, yu need t specify the Mdbus Nde-ID assigned t the particular device. This specificatin must match the device s netwrk settings. Change the value f Nde_Offset t establish the desired Device Instance values, and click SUBMIT. Given that: Nde_Offset + Mdbus Nde_ID = Device Instance Then: Nde_Offset (required) = Device Instance (desired) Mdbus Nde_ID Fr example: Device 1 has a Mdbus Nde-ID f 1 Device 2 has a Mdbus Nde-ID f 22 Device 3 has a Mdbus Nde-ID f 33 Desired Device Instance fr 1 st device = 1,001 Nde_Offset (required) = 1,001 (Mdbus Nde_ID) = 1,001 1 = 1,000 The Nde_Offset value will be applied t all devices. Device 1 Instance will then be = 1,000 + Mdbus Nde_ID = 1, = 1,001 Device 2 Instance will then be = 1,000 + Mdbus Nde_ID = 1, = 1,022 Device 3 Instance will then be = 1,000 + Mdbus Nde_ID = 1, = 1,033 Figure 25: Web Cnfiguratr screen Page 27 f 65
