5 MT Ger Coupling Description The MT ger coupling is steel double-joint coupling. Min function is to trnsmit torque nd t the sme time ccommodte the mislignment between two shfts. The MT coupling is torsionlly stiff nd formed by two crowned hubs which engge two flnged sleeves with internl stright prllel teeth (see coupling prts t Fig nº1). Coupling size for certin drive depends not only on the drive unit power nd speed, but lso on the mislignment nd the type of mchines to be coupled. Coupling components Axil Offset Angulr Axil, offset nd ngulr As result of the teeth curvture, if shfts mislignment occurs, the crowned teeth hubs cn oscillte in the flnged sleeve (see Fig nº2). It is impossible to hve corner pressure even t mximum mislignment. The combined tip nd flnk centering nd fully mchined coupling ensure smooth opertion. In cse of high rottion speed (circumferentil speeds exceeding 40 m/s or sensitive supports to unblnce) dynmic blncing is required. The teeth re mchined with precision ger mchines in order to ssure uniform contct on ll the teeth. Fig nº3. hft mislignment Proper mintennce of ger couplings is key to void erly wer of the ger teeth nd extend the coupling s life. It is necessry to strictly follow the instlltion nd mintennce instructions. The MT ger coupling must be filled with grese periodiclly. Therefore, the lubriction is forced into the teeth by centrifugl force. els re provided in the sleeves/covers to prevent ny grese lekge. They cn be used t -30 C to 70 C temperture rnge. For other temperture, plese contct Jure. The ger couplings re mde in C45/55 mteril s stndrd. If more compct coupling or higher power rtio is required, Jure Hevy Duty Type (HD) in lloy steel is vilble in our progrm. 6 Coupling election Fα For MT stndrd design selection, the following dt is required: -PN, Instlled or bsorbed power (Kw) -n, operting speed (rpm) -L, d shft lengths nd dimeters (mm) -DBE distnce between shft ends (mm) -ervice requirements (K service fctor from pge 15) -Dynmic mislignment (Fα mislignment fctor from Fig nº4) -Additionl geometricl or tmospheric restrictions Torque Cpcity vries with speed nd dynmic mislignment. From MT bsic design, we would select MT-78. econdly, we need to check mximum shft cpcity for selected size. This would led to the selection of MT-112, s the drum shft dimeter is 100 mm. 7 Blncing Coupling Blnce requirements nd limits re minly dependent upon the chrcteristics of the ppliction. For this reson blncing chrts should be used s guide only to ssist in determining whether blncing is required or not. Blncing Minimum pplictions dt required for chrt interprettion: 1. IO blncing Grde for the coupling. (G) Blncing chrt is shown for verge pplictions. For sensitive or criticl ppliction, contct Jure for coupling blnce requirement. 2. Appliction peed (n) This informtion llows to clculte the permissible eccentricity (e permissible) for the coupling. Blnce Chrt for non spcer type ger couplings e permissible = 9550.G/n Where, 1000 Permissible Eccentricity in (μm) e permissible = Permissible eccentricity of center of grvity in µm. e coupling = Actul eccentricity of center of grvity of coupling in µm.
