2 Happy July, A Message From The President When you read this, I will most likely be in Ketchikan AK spending time with my daughter and enjoying the cool temp's and enjoying the seafood. This has been a really hot summer so far, so let's hope it cools down soon. I don't believe anyone from our region went to Parade this year due to the distance and location. I hear from those there that the temp's are REALLY COOL and there has been some rain. Jim Cambron from Huntsville didn't do so well in Concours or TSD Rally with his new Turbo S, but he did win first place in his class in Auto-Cross. Congratulations Jim! I am seriously thinking about driving to Spokane WA next year for Parade. Spend time along the way at the Badlands and Mt Rushmore, then over to the Devil's Tower, Wyoming and whatever else is along the way. Might come back south route and catch some great national parks in UT, AZ, CO where Kent Kersten and his son Will visited this summer. If you get a chance to visit the Porsche Experience Center, take a look at the Boxster Heritage Exhibit, where Ken Knight's Gen 1 Boxster is on exhibit. It is a beauty! Remember you just can't show up there and get an entrance, as it is secure property! Make an appointment for 1/2 hour on a track simulator, lunch or drive one of their cars and you can get in. We are always looking for great drives and lunch spots so let us know if you know of any. Yesterday, Shirley and I drove to Red Boiling Springs to check out driving up there for lunch at one of the three historic hotels in town. After that experience, I can report we WILL NOT be going there for lunch or anything. All hotels were rundown, smelled musty, had no guests, served no lunch unless you called ahead (and they had sufficient quantity to prepare for), etc. On top of that, a local recommended a shack of a restaurant to eat at, and the food was HORRIBLE! So we need your suggestions. We will be going back to Lynchburg in the fall for lunch at Mary Bobo's (always great food and experience) and you can tour Jack Daniel's on your own. I hope you have a good 4th of July holiday. My family will be watching the rubber duck races along Creek Street in downtown Ketchikan, maybe riding a big metal duck on the inland waterway, and eating salmon on a stick. 5 Boxster Knights Photos By: Ken Knight I trailered the car down to Atlanta about a month ago and they just sent photos of how the display turned out. It starts with our car and ends with the 718 Boxster. Pretty cool, no? The row of 911's across from the Boxsters is a collection of 911RS of each generation - which are TOO cool for words. If you happen to be near Atlanta before July 24, I would definitely suggest dropping by the PEC to see it all - it is a very impressive facility & you can see Mais'n with her friends. As part of the new Boxster 718 introduction, the Porsche Experience Center (PEC) in Atlanta is supporting dealer sales and tech training this summer. They had an idea to create a "history walk" through their museum leading to the training area of their complex. The PEC organizers put out an appeal to PCA members in our region for vehicles from each of the 5 previous generations of the Boxster - with the request to loan them for June and July. Since our 1997 Pastel Yellow Boxster - with under 20k miles - was likely one of the better examples remaining, I figured what the heck and sent in the requested info and photos. I was a little surprised when a note from our club president arrived informing me that our car had been selected to represent the original 986. This car was one of the first sold in USA and was delivered by Howard Cooper in Ann Arbor, MI. I purchased it from the original owner in a neighbor in Okemos, MI who was trading up to a Turbo. 6 Drive To Dickson By: Randy Lynch Saturday June 18 th was a beautiful sunny day for a Musik-Stadt PCA drive. We assembled at O'Charleys in Brentwood at 8:45 for a leisurely tour through Williamson, Hickman and Dickson counties on our way to lunch at Lugo's Italian Restaurant in historic downtown Dickson. Twentythree (23) cars and forty-one (41) people made the trip. The roads were good and we navigated a few twisties along the way. Lugo's food was great and the service was excellent. PAGE 6

8 Bellissima! the Italian Automotive Renaissance, The Frist Center for the Visual Arts Sunday, August 28, 2016 Sunday, August 28, 2016, will be Porsche Car Club Sunday at the Frist Center as members of Musik Stadt Region PCA will be the Frist s special guests for Bellissima! the Italian Automotive Renaissance, Bellissima! celebrates the visual dynamism and spirit of innovation characterizing Italian coach-built cars, concept cars and motorcycles produced during the post World War II economic revival. Returning to the Frist Center after the 2013 presentation of Sensuous Steel: Art Deco Automobiles, automotive authority and guest curator Ken Gross has chosen 19 automobiles and 3 motorcycles from private collections and museums that are among the finest examples of Italian automotive design, including vehicles by Alfa Romeo, Bizzarrini, Ducati, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Lancia and Maserati. With the ultra-rare Alfa Romeo BAT models 5, 7 and 9 from the 1950s and a 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO, this all-star assembly offers surprises for even the most knowledgeable car aficionados. These powerful and extraordinary cars exemplify the sexy and streamlined Italian design language that propelled Italy to the forefront of automotive design internationally. The Nashville Section has arranged for early admission and a private lunch prior to the tour for only $25 per person. Because seating for the lunch is limited, this event is restricted to only 50 members and their guests. We expect that this will be a sell-out, so please make your reservations early. You can reserve your place by sending a check payable to MSK PCA for $25 per person to Randy Lynch, 1308 Haber Drive, Brentwood TN The Frist requires that we notify them as to the number of guests attending at least 21 days in advance, so we must cut off reservations on Friday, August 5, 2016, or as soon as we hit the 50-person limit. Lunch includes a sandwich, chips, cookie and a choice of bottled water or soda. The lunch choices are: 1. Turkey Club Sandwich; 2. Chicken Salad on Croissant; 3. Vegetarian Mediterranean Wrap. Please indicate your preference(s) for the box lunch on your check. PAGE 8

9 The parking lot for the Frist Center is located behind the Frist Center, 919 Broadway, Nashville. The lot will open at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, Aug 28, for the Porsche Club, but will not open to the general public until 11:30 a.m. In order for the Club to be able to park our cars together in the lot please plan to gather in the parking lot behind the Frist no later than 11:15 a.m. At 12:00 noon we will enjoy lunch in the Rector Room of the Frist for lunch (on the left as you enter through the rear entrance of the Frist. We will be among the first visitors to see this one-of-a-kind exhibit when the galleries open at 1:00 p.m. For more information about Bellissima! and the Frist Center for the Visual Arts, go towww.fristcenter.org.
