2 A Message From The President Coming Soon: MUSIK-STADT ELECTION! September is here. Fall is rapidly approaching and there s absolutely no slowing down for Musik-Stadt. If anything we re upshifting and putting more weight on the GO PEDAL. We have Show, Shine & BBQ at Warner Park, German Cars & Coffee at Opry Mills, our monthly meeting at the Sportsman s Lodge in Cool Springs. More importantly our region begins to gear up for an election. Club elections are going to happen this fall! Following our region s bylaws the Board of Directors met earlier this year and elected me as the Chairman of the Nominating Committee. I have selected four active Musik-Stadt members who are not members of the Board of Directors to serve with me on the Nominating Committee. These members include Joe Questel, Josh Swayze, Harald Melson and Mike Moody. We will meet in September to nominate at least nine members to run for office in December. The membership will be informed of our nominees prior to October 31. Nominating petitions from the general membership will be welcome and must be received by November 20th. A petition supporting a nominee must be supported by the signatures of nine (9) active members in addition to that of the nominee. The plan is for the election to be available on-line in December via surveymonkey. The top nine vote getters will constitute the new board and will then meet with the outgoing board to select the new officers (president, vice-president, treasurer and secretary) as well as the committee chairmen from the nine elected. We will introduce the new officers and committee chairmen at our banquet on January 26 at Brentwood Country Club. We are asking everyone to take part in this year s election. Want to serve your club? Nominate yourself or another active member you know who wants to help our club progress. Be sure and vote! I have seen a terrific surge in activity by our members this year and it s appreciated. We ve had more people at monthly meetings and taking part in activities like driving tours. Let s be sure this continues into the election process. PAGE 2

5 Aug 18 Tour to Dover TN & Civil War History It was a beautiful day when about 24 cars and club members gathered at O Charleys in Brentwood to pass out route directions and give the safety briefing. Trip up was scenic and uneventful, which is always the best way. We drove through White Bluff and north Dickson and then north through Erin passing by historical 1800 s limestone ovens and one restored charcoal iron oven at Bear Springs. After lunch at the Dover Grille, we drove out to Ft Donelson Battlefield for a beautiful view of the embankments, cannons and Cumberland River. Members could then tour the battlefield on their own, along with the historical National Cemetery and the Dover Hotel where Confederate Gen Buckner surrendered Ft Donelson to Union Gen US Grant. 7 The Bavarian Bierhaus is putting on an Oktoberfest for the organizers of the Wags and Wings at the Clarksville Airport on Saturday, October 29th. The Oktoberfest hanger will be decorated in true Oktoberfest fashion where you will be able to enjoy German Oktoberfest cuisine, German beer and German Polka music. Additionally, the organizers are providing a special German Car Owners Corral. The event on Saturday goes from 11am to 11pm, but the German Car Clubs should plan to arrive around 3:00 p.m. German Car Club members will be provided a special pass that will allow you a no cost entry at a designated gate exclusively for us. You will be able to park as a group display at the north end of the apron near the Oktoberfest hangar and can stay through the afternoon / evening with an easy exit through the same gate.
